October 11-18, 2008 Eastern Magic-Parrothead Pirates in Paradise!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far.

This is our last week home. Then the kids start Kindergarten on Tues. after Labor Day. I am sooo sad........

to all the new cruisers! This group is getting big and I know of several more who are going to book this cruise while onboard at the end of this month.
We decided we wouldn't ever make it on a DCL Panama Canal, so we booked a round trip from Ft. Lauderdale on the Coral Princess for this March. Check out this itinerary. There are several ports of call on this trip we have never been to. One of our local banks does group trips and this is one of the big trips for next year. We couldn't pass it up. We still plan on doing this cruise also, so we'll have to work hard to save all our nickels and dimes!

They will do great!! My kids have been in school 3 weeks and are loving it. I am sure your's will to!!

I hated the first day of Kindgergarten, I was a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!! So was my son. My dd did fine though, and once I got past the first morning it was much better. Now however, my kids are starting middle and high school next Tuesday, I'm such a wuss, I'll probably be a mess again (where they can't see me of course).

Hi Kristen, I remember my little guy on his first day of school, it was so hard to leave him there. He wanted me to leave, LOL. I must of stared at the clock for hours that day waiting for school to end so I could pick him up. He's starting grade one this year and he can't wait. Goodluck.

Hope everyone is having a great week. We are enjoying our last week of summer. Swimming, etc. Last night I went to my first PTA meeting. It is very weird to be on the parent side of things and not the teacher side. ( I was a teacher before I had the kids.) The twins are going to have my good friend as their teacher.

Me too! We are taking the kids out for just 1 1/2 days though since our district has given us the whole MEA week off. That's why we can do the cruise next fall! Erika, when will you be at WDW?

I think we had this talk already, where I told you how jealous I was of that situation??????????????? We are there the 13th - 21st. Next year, Columbus day is Monday of MEA week, so I am so hoping that they will have 3 days off, so they will only miss 2 days of school instead of the 3 they miss most years.

Wish I was going somewhere!Mydaughter began 1st grade this past week. She loves it. I find it hard since she is gone all day. You only hope you brought them up well to survive in a world outside our protective bubble! I still have the twins to keep me super busy!

What is MEA??????????.

MEA is the Minnesota Education ***'n aka the teachers' union. They have annual meetings in Oct. and most districts give their students 2 or 3 days off. Our district went to the entire week off (parents voted) and I'm thrilled. We love doing Disney in Oct. and the price on our cruise next year was waaaayyy cheaper than spring break this year!

We will be in the world Oct. 11 - 17 - can't wait!

I think this time next year I'm going to be a mess when she goes to college. Talk about scary! I hope she remembers everything I taught her when she's on her own.

Enjoy every moment with your kids, and don't feel bad about taking them out of school for precious family time.

OH my GOSH a SENIOR!!! WOW!!! What a wonderful year she is going to have this year. Such a special time. Where does the time go?????

Well the twins had their Meet-n-Greet at the school yesterday and one wanted to leave and the other wanted to stay...lol!!!!


I spoke with the teacher and reminded her of our Disney Trip. She asked how many days. When I told her again. She said oh we might be doing testing that week. So it will have to be made up. Testing in K...Oh my gosh!!! She reminded me that I have to think about trips in the future grades, since I do not want to send the wrong message to the kids that vacations are more important than school. She remarked this will proabally be the only year you will be able to take them out...LOL!!! What she does not know is we are going on the cruise next year. DH says we are going to be taking a fall vacation all the way through elementary school....I just thought it was funny how she was ok with it last spring when I mentioned it and now she is acting funny about it. Oh well, as a past teacher I am not going to worry one more bit about it. I am going to start getting my mind set for our trip.

I am off to the dr. today I have had a sore throat for over three weeks now and am finally going to get it checked out.

Hope everyone has a great Holiday weekend. I am wanting to go to the beach and DH does not want to deal with the crowds. So looks like we are haning out in our backyard at the pool. No other plans. Anyone else have exciting plans.

It did erk me. Since she acted like it was fine in the spring. Plus she was my mentor when I taught there. What is up with that?? Maybe since it is not scheduled near a day off and the next week is Columbus day. But come on. It is Kindergarten.

I agree about the family time thing......
