Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

Jen,

What does MNSSHP stand for? We will be in town the 27th so I may stop by but not sure what this is?

MNSSHP is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party- it is an evening hard ticket event at Magic Kingdom. You could stop by, but it'll cost ya! $$$! ;)

We leave in 8 days :woohoo: We are soooo excited!:goodvibes

The meet the day before is going to be at Grills at 3:45 right? I just want to make sure. Where exact;ly is Grills located? We are staying at the La Quinta Inn on Hendry St. We are hoping to be able to be at this meet. We will be staying in Georgia the night before and will have a 6 -7 hour drive ahead of us that day. But hope to still be there

Vicki

I think it is right next to or across the street from Fishlips. Both are right near the Port/Radisson/CIS. Looks like you are 5-10 minutes south, a straight shot up A-1-A

We have tix for that, we are going on the 29th, night before cruise. Sorry, once you spell it out it makes sense.

The CM in the gift shops did when we cruised in 08 and they have at least one special pin trading to do with the captain and other officers on the ship.

We are getting ready to pull out of the drive so I will see everyone on board. Have fun with what is left of the planning and safe travels to all. See you soon. Lois

Have a safe trip!! We will see you soon.
Kim

From my experience it is best to stroll in at the last minute possible for the drill. :cool2: I remember our first cruise showing up a little early and it seemed like we were out there forever. Plus they jam you in so tight that if you are one of the first to arrive you are stuck in the back up getting squished.

One of our fondest memories was going to the muster drill, Sarah was only six months old. We all had lifejackets on, we are laughing, taking pictures, when all of the sudden a woman (passenger) starts yelling at us.

She says, "This is serious business, pay attention, stop fooling around!!!"

It made us laugh more. We knew were we belonged and what to do. I guess it must have been her first time. :lmao:

Hey Everyone! I've been insanely busy the last few days, so I'm just catching up reading here.

If a photographer is still needed for the group photo - DH would be happy to do it. He doesn't much like being in photos and has done this for other groups in the past. (I think I've posted "grown up Princess night" and Pirate night group photos he has taken.) If those with remotes can find a way to set them up, he can babysit their cameras as well. We have a DSLR (although not a brand new super fancy one - it is a Canon EOS Rebel XTi)

For someone who was asking about pin trading. There have been formal pin trading events on board on our past cruises. Our son likes trading with cast members and he has often found ones to trade with outside Topsiders. However, we have found that as the cruise goes on, more and more "seconds" appear on the lanyards. At the parks, the cast member lanyards seem to get cleaned up each night - but I think on the ship they only do that between cruises.

Quick question about Silver/Gold status. This has been setup since our last cruise (Aug 2008) and I know we are Silver (4 cruises - Annoying part is 36 days on board doesn't count for anything). How many cruises do we need for Gold? Does the level effect the stateroom gift and what is it nowadays anyway?

I have been so insanely busy with work and daily life that I still haven't really processed that the cruise is so very close. DH's birthday is the 28th and we fly out the evening of the 29th. DH and I have talked about needing to pack this weekend, but neither of us is really prepared at all! Good thing this is our 5th cruise - we'll probably be OK with winging things a bit :)

The 29th is going to be crazy - DS11 has a Halloween classroom party that afternoon where the kids wear their costumes - I then have to get him home and get the costume PACKED in time to leave for the airport :rolleyes1 My mother made his costume (she does this every year) and it is her best yet - she did the Johnny Depp Mad Hatter and it looks amazing! It also has all sorts of bits & pieces that I have to be sure and get into the luggage....

Silver - 1 Completed Cruise
Gold - 5 Completed Cruises
Platinum - 10 Completed Cruises

Yes, there are tiered gifts, one per stateroom based on highest member status

Don't know what they are currently given out.

NEW Castaway Club Tier Information

The status is what I was laughing about in an earlier post. Sarah after this cruise will have been on 4 7-day cruises, and 1 15-day so a total of 43 sailing days will make her a Gold Member at 6 years old. :thumbsup2

i wish we were going to gills but we are at the park that day is everyone doing anything that night together??

Pudo, are you the "Computer Guy"? Or anyone else that can help here. I HAVE to finish this video I'm making from footage taken at my mothers friend's 80th birthday party this past summer. I have footage from 3 different cameras. Two of them, burn from the video cameras as VOB DVD files/format. I'm using windows movie maker to do the editing. I have the new video half done, but now one video file has gone missing (I probably accidentally deleted it when I was cleaning out my computer a few weeks ago). So now I have to get that video off the DVD disc again, and CONVERT it to AVI so I can use it in WMM. Well, I thought I was done with the Conversion program I had downloaded, so had deleted that. Now I can't remember which one it was. So I downloaded a different one, but when I convert the file, it comes out all squished up in the width in WMM. Thats no good to me. I Absolutely HAVE to get this project done by Friday night. Can you recommend a good downloadable conversion program that won't Squish it? I've tried different ration settings with the one I used today, but none of them made a difference. This is getting SO frustrating!!! I'm NEVER taking on a paid job like this again!!!

Just a reminder for those of you attending the 10/28 (only) MNSSHP and the pre-cruise meet at Grills I will have your Lanyards. :thumbsup2]

Hey Jen, did anything ever solidify for a meet up at the MNSSHP or are we just winging it and keeping an eye out for each other? DH and I are going to be in street clothes and our little guys will be dressed as pirates - we likely won't be sticking out like sore thumbs! :)

Yep! :thumbsup2 We could all walk right around the corner to the Helmsman Mickey statue at about 3:25 or so. That will most likely be the best time to get as many of us together at once. Plus those of us who are making shirts will most likely already have them on for the photo.:goodvibes

I like the idea of having the set time (but I am slightly anal that way) - can we get a few more votes on this to make it "official"?

We too learned this the hardway! You don't want to be late (or you will have a lot of people upset with you!!), but from the minute you get there until the end of the demo, you must stand in the line with your life jacket on!

One thing I think the disboards are missing (or maybe I just haven't found it yet) is the listing of which Muster station you go to for each stateroom. We are in 8574 this time, and I am HOPING we go to Animators Palette! Recently I was reading some one's Trip Report and they were close to our room and that was where they went (and they sat in the seats during the drill!) . . . but I am trying to be too excited about it until I found out for sure . . .

I get the idea of strolling in towards the end of the muster drill but my mom is in a wheelchair so we need to be sure to get to the elevator before it starts to get her to our muster station. Will we still have enough time? What about having to grab our lifejackets from the room first?
