Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

As we were walking out the door for our anniversary dinner, DCL called. No, they were not calling to wish us a happy anniversary. Or to offer us an upgrade (which is what I was hoping when I answered the phone). Instead, it was to let us know that the time for our Grand Cayman excursion has changed from 10:45 to 7:30 a.m.

They said the shore excursion provider had changed the time and that I could cancel if I wanted to. I told them we would keep it. It was that or cancel and have nothing booked for that day.

I just hope I can get us all up and out by then!

Wow that is a big change. What excursion is this for, may I ask?
Try to look on the bright side, at least the night before isn't something late, like Pirate Night. Also you'll probably have plenty of time to visit a beach or relax on the ship after your excursion.

The combo dolphin encounter and turtle farm.

I was thinking the same thing....I think the excursion is about 4 hours. Which means we could probably be back on the ship by 12:30. Might give us some time to enjoy the ship when it is a little less crowded.

Wondering if our friends in Canada will be enjoying holiday leftovers today? That can mean you don't have to take time to prepare another meal from :stir: scratch, and they are always delicious. Hope you all had a wonderful day!

I have been following your preparation progress as you post, and things are coming along here too. I saw a tye dye kit at Joanne Fabric, and was tempted. How difficult is it to do the Mickey shirts.

Finished costumes for pirate night last week, and worked on FE gifts last night. Hope to have them ready to pack into zip bags by Monday.

Camping this weekend, so no packing will be done until Monday. Got a new hair cut yesterday, and will have manicure next week. Anything to enhance my natural :rotfl: :lmao: beauty.

Have a great day all!

It really wasn't hard! I was sure I'd find a way to mess it up but I didn't!;)

Here and here are the two threads that explain the process, tons of tips and probably every question you could imagine being asked, and answered! Tons of pics too!

Give it a try it's fun!!!:thumbsup2

We had turkey sandwhiches for lunch yesterday and my son took one to school for his lunch. He requested the same today. Does anyone have a good but easy to make recipe for a turkey Casserole or turkey soup? Every year I say I'm going to do this with the leftovers, but then I don't find a recipe before the turkey is likely not safe to eat anymore. (I'm a procrastinator).
DS7 is still home with a sore throat, and he just asked me if I could make him breakfast in bed! He has never in his life requested that before :) So I'm going to make him some scrambled eggs.
Do you alll think the doctor would give him Hep A shot today? DH stayed home from work to drive DS17 to the airport as he's set to head back to College, and DH will take himself and the other two boys to the Doctore for those shots. DS7 currently does not have a fever, just the sore throat. I'll call the doctor in a 1/2 hour and check.

In the middle of the night last night, I had a panick attack about getting ready for this trip. Was awake for a few hours because of that. No particular reason to panick but holey smokes, that was not pleasant last night. Surprisingly, I feel pretty good/awake this morning. :thumbsup2

Hey Judy

I hope that your son is feeling better. I would think that as long as he is not running a fever that he may be able to get the Hep A shot today. But I would check with the Dr for sure. My arm is still sore from getting the flu shot on Monday. Did you ever take him in to to see if he had strep?

I do have a turkey casserole recipe that I will pm you. I just have to find it here and then I will pm you today with it. A friend of mine made the casserole for me when I had my son and I thought it was pretty good.

We leave 2 weeks from today and I am starting to get nervous. I have gotten quite a bit done, but there is still so much more to do.

Country Stroganoff Casserole

1 can cream soup of your choice
1/2 cup sour cream
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 cup grated cheese of your choice
2 Tbsp. parsley
1/2 tsp. each salt and pepper
3 cups cooked pasta of your choice
1-1 1/2 cup leftover turkey-cubed

Combine all ingredients. Pour into 1 1/2 quart shallow baking dish. Top with cracker or bread crumbs. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Top with extra grated cheese for the last 15 minutes of baking. Use all light ingredients if you prefer.

This works with many kinds of ingredients. Use your favorite cream soup, cheese or leftover meat. Also works well with a can of tuna or salmon and mushroom or shrimp soup for a Lenten meal. Add veggies if you like.

Double or triple for a large group.

Thanks everyone for those recipes! Now I have to choose which one. Whatevr I don't use this time, I'll use for our Christmas leftovers. :thumbsup2

DH just left with the boys for those HEP A shots. DS7 reminded me about the freezing stuff. OOPS, I forgot to pick up Emla. No worries, DH is stopping at the pharmacy first for that, and then there is about an hour wait at the doctors anyway, as they are going as Walkin's. I did call the Dr.'s about Tim's sore throat (no worries, and it's not strep, as his throat is much better, just really sore 1st thing in the morning, but after he had his breakfast in bed, it was much better. Strep doesn't start feeling better). I also asked the receptionist to tell the walking nurse to NOT mention anything about the trip!!!!!!:thumbsup2

We got our flu shots also. DH and DD got the sniffles afterwards that will clear up before we leave. Glad I didn't wait till the last minute on the flu shot.

Lots to do before we leave. We are coming in a week early. We only have 9 nights left at our house and then on to the airport! Single digits :woohoo:

I've rediscovered google earth and have been looking at the pictures people have posted and just getting giddy with excitement.

We also went to the Disney Store last night where I picked up Trick or Treat bags on sale. They are reusable and pretty sturdy. I do believe that between the cruise activities, the FE and MNSSHP, that bag is going to be overflowing:rotfl:

Before eldest son headed back to College, I wanted to get a good photo of the 4 of them together, as well as get some camera practice in for our Cruise. We usually travel up to the Gatineau Mountains to do this each fall. But there was just no time for that hike this past weekend. So I took them all over to the park at the end of our street. The old saying, practice makes perfect, is really true:

This one, I'd like to know what I did wrong. It would have been a great shot, if the two in back were as clear as the two in front. The camera focused only on the front two. Any ideas anyone?

This next, again would have been GREAT, IF I had had two hands to hold the camera steady. But I had climbed a tree (ya, me!). I was on a HUGE narrow branch that was on a slant, and needed one hand to hold me in the tree, and the other to take the photo. Lesson learned with this one? Take a ladder next time!

This next one, perhasp a tripod would have stopped the blur on those two kids on the end who were jumping during the photo taking. But I love the expressions on the older two!

This last one, goes with the saying "Practice Makes Perfect" This is the one I'll get a large print of, to sit on our Mantle.

Judy, love that shot with the two older kids looking at each other while the little ones jump up and down.

And the last shot is definitely a keeper. Your daughter has this look that only a girl with three brothers could possibly have!

Halloween Cruises

Disney Cruise Line will treat guests sailing in late October to a spook-tacular good time as the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder transform into a ghoulish wonderland filled with hair-raising events and activities. Guests of all ages will delight with special decorations, unique menu items in the restaurants and themed dance parties on deck.

The Halloween happenings take place on the Disney Magic cruise departing October 23 and 30 and on the Disney Wonder cruises departing October 17, 21, 24, 28 and 31.

Here is a glimpse at the treats awaiting Disney Cruise Line guests this Halloween:

Trick-or-Treat Trail: Young guests are invited to participate in a trick-or-treat hunt exploring multiple decks of the ship and collecting candy from various stations.

Haunted Parties: Following the trick-or-treat hunt, families will gather at the Goofy Pool for a fun-filled Halloween costume party – Disney Cruise Line style. The world-famous Disney Characters will join in the fun, wearing special Halloween costumes just for the occasion. For adults, the nighttime entertainment district on the Disney ships becomes the ghoulish setting for a costume contest and party sure to bring chills to everyone.

Spooky Movies: To get guests into the spirit of the season, Halloween-themed movies will be shown in the Buena Vista Theatre, on the Ariel Vision screen by the family pool and in guest staterooms.

Ghoulish Delights: Disney Cruise Line chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and “Witch’s Brew.”

I don't remember reading it before, especially not the part about the "Spooky Movies" or "Ghoulish Delights". I'm sure I would have remembered seeing something about chocolate cake with pumpkin filling! :goodvibes

I hope they show "The Nightmare Before Christmas" - it would be awesome to see that in a theatre again.

Oh no, I hope Tim feels better soon!

Judy I understand about the panic attacks! I am cool as a cucumber (maybe abnormally so) but Ron is really stressed out too. He is losing sleep at night as well, worried that something will go wrong or we won't get everything done in time. Plus money is tighter as we had planned as Savannah got her dance contracts early this year and we have to pay that by Saturday. She also has a bunch of competition fees due the day we return so that is at the back of his mind. We have worked hard to reduce our debt and are determined to make do with cash on hand. But most of the stress comes from how unbelievably busy we will be the next couple of weeks!

Maybe its just the artsy fartsy in me but I love this one! The way the older kids are just slightly out of focus lends the impression of wisdom or of "looking over" their younger brothers. As far as how you ended up with the shot, I am thinking you must have a DSLR and I'm sure it has to do with your shutter and aperture settings. I'm a total photography newbie though..I have been reading a book on photography geared at my camera in hopes to improve our shots on the cruise. What I really need is a new camera, but...;)

What a lovely shot!!!

I did see that on the main board in one of the Halloween threads. When I read it I was really bummed we had selected Palo on Halloween. They had me at chocolate and pumpkin filling as well.:rotfl2:

And a very Happy Anniversary Jane! :)

I worked on this magnet graphic this evening specifically for my family. I know some of you are doing many of the same things, going to the same places, (with the one exception perhaps the JetSki, and or Downtown Disney). If just a slight change in one or two photos, or just to repersonalize it for youself, I can and will do this for anyone who wants it. I won't have time to make more than just those few changes though, but wanted to share this with who I could! :)
