Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

Hi Everyone! We've been off-line for the last week or so (changed internet providers and it took a while to get everything working...) I'll try to go back and catch up, but did I miss anything important?

OUR CRUISE DOCS CAME TODAY!!!! :thumbsup2:banana: Makes the trip seem so much more real!

It is starting to get chilly here and I'm thinking I need to switch the summer/winter clothes around - I may just start packing for the cruise as long as I'm messing this the clothes anyway ...

I lived in Titusville for 6 years. One of my brothers is still there. I went to Imperial Estates Elementary School and used to live on Jana Drive.

I know I saw some liftoffs, but I can't remember which ones. It was a long long time ago :upsidedow

I do remember watching fireworks for the bi-centennial in Titusville. I was on my dad's shoulders and I peed my pants! :lmao: He stopped putting me up there after that!

I remember the fireworks! I grew up in Hickory Hills off hwy 50. We all went to Apollo Elementary, Jackson Middle and then THS.

I told my wife to check the mail box, then laughed and said we probably don't have anything. BUT then my wife yelled,WE GOT OUR DOCUMENTS!!:dance3:

It is pronounced Kell-tic. It is a beautiful hotel, we are lucky enough to be gym members there (we use the excuse that it is close to home, and therefore we are more likely to use it!)

If ever you do make it over this way, you must remember to look us up, we can join you for afternoon tea :)

that is what I thought.....but one the USA basketball teams are called the Boston Sell-tics and it drives me crazy!!!

I would be honored to share afternoon tea with you guys!!!

Ok...with all this doc talk lately I went to get the mail and low and behold there was a packet for our DD from DCL....but none for hubby and I. I booked DD's cruise ressie just a few weeks ago and ours has been booked since January....she is a Gold member and we are Platinum members......:confused3:confused3

Also, hers came regular mail, not FedEx....with luggage tags....is that the docs you are talking about getting? I always remember them coming FedEx before.

I went shopping today. Groceries, and then to Michael's Craft store. I picked up the photo mat to have autographed on board. How do I decide which way I want them to sign it? With the photo mat Portrait or landscape. I have no clue what picture will go into it, but it will either be a Character one of the boys, or a family one with all 4 of us, but obviously taken with my own camera as the opening is 5x7.

On the way home, on the Queensway, we were approaching a bridge, and there was an Police car parked in the right lane on an angle and in front of him a van with a huge covered trailer on the back. The Officer had put those little lights down on the road, you know, redish ones, on an angle, to direct traffic into the left lanes. Wasn't an accident, but don't know if the guy stopped for help, or if the Police pulled him over. Anyway, I had Tim with my (the 7 year old), and he sees this, and the little red lights and yells, "MATCHES, FIRE, BOMB, LOOK OUT, THEY'RE GONNA BLOW UP THE BRIDGE". Man he has an imagination. I had a good laugh.

Then just up ahead of that, I'm driving in the middle lane, and a van was in the far left lane, up a ways, and pulling an open top trailer on the back. A Wood Kitchen table in the trailer suddenly took flight. Thankfully I was enough of a distance back that I could slow down to determine where exactly that table was going to end up. It came crashing down in that left lane, but then pieces of it broke off and took flight (did I mention it was very windy today?). I was glad to just get home. All that shopping though, and returning a few items (to walmart and ikea), took all afternoon.

Tonight, Tim has asked if we can all watch NEW MOON after dinner. The soundtrack from the movie was playing in the van while we drove. So thats what we'll do, snuggle up and watch a vampire movie. Not once today has he mentioned a SHIP or DISNEY! :thumbsup2

DH and I were out of town today and were thrilled :yay: to find our documents had been delivered . Good thing I'll start sewing costume parts tomorrow.

I took ds Zach to his first NASCAR Nationwide race today at Dover. :cool1: He had a blast and wants to know if todays ticket is good for tomorrow :confused3
It was hot and sunny!
When we got home our cruise Docs were there!

We got our cruise documents yesterday via regular mail. Now I just have to pull the cruise clothes and sundry items out and start organizing them. Might as well put everything in our suitcases as the weather is getting a bit colder so the girls certainly won't be needing their swimsuits until the cruise! The number of Mickey heads on the count-down chart is getting fewer and fewer. It turned out to be a great activity for six year olds who are very visual about the passage of time.

Speaking of passage of time, Steve and I went to his 30th +1 high school reunion. The organizers didn't get their act together last year. It was fun to watch my spouse run into people from his past. Steve had never attended a reunion so it was truly a walk down memory lane. Very cool to realize that the major source of conversation tended to revolve around family and a common activity was seeing lots of family pics pulled out of wallets. Most of his high school buddies now have kids in college or beyond. A few people had kids about our age, but we were definitely in a minority.

Another rite of passage: our girls got to have their first sleep over down the street with our close friends and neighbors as we weren't sure how long we would be out last night. They were very excited to haul their sleeping bags and tinkerbell suitcase over to their friends' house. It was very strange not having them with us when we got home. Our dog kept going into their rooms looking for them. Not quite the feeling of a child going to college, but still a weird feeling that our little ones weren't where they were supposed to be: fast asleep in their own beds. And about the bed situation on the cruise: my two are very opinionated about that -- both of them want to be in the top bunk so I imagine we'll have to do the every other day gig on that. Here's hoping that they don't do the math and figure out that one person gets 4 nights and the other only gets 3 nights up there!

HS Reunion! Sounds like it was very worth going to! I don't think I'd attend a HS reunion myself, nor DH for that matter. He's just not into things like that, and myself, I hated Highschool, not a lot of good memories, so I'd most likely pass (except for the school I went to for my graduating year.... Now if THEY did one, That I just might attend).
Sleep overs. Did the girls have fun? I bet they did! My 7 year old asks if he can can have sleepovers at friends ALL the time, but the only time we let him, was last March when DH and I attended a family wedding out of town. Then it was a friend's of mine whose son is the same age as my 7yr old. Both my boys went there for the weekend, and they did have a blast. But never again since then! And yes, it does feel very weird not having them with you, especially since they are so young, and you're not used to not having them with you.
Passage of time, I wonder if I should do a little countdown Calendar with Tim for "our trip to Washington". The only thing currently, timewise, he asks daily "How many more days till....." is with regards to WHEN is his College brother coming home. So we'll see what the MIL says when she calls with how many airmile points she has. Keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Add us to your "minority", I graduated in 1979 so I am right there with Steve. Some of my classmates have been married one or more times, some are grandparents.

Sarah has yet to have her first sleepover, but we were discussing it last night with her best friend's parents.

So lots seem to be doing the DOC DANCE!! Is there anyone who DOESN'T have their DOCs yet? :)

Nothing here yet. :( I called our TA, she said they no longer handle the cruise docs, they go directly from DCL to us. I imagine we'll see ours in the mail on Monday.

:( no docs here yet either. Does anyone know if they all come FedEx? FedEx doesn't deliver on Monday, so I'm hoping no. But, if it is FedEx, I'll be home to sign for them on Tuesday. I guess they'll get here when they get here.

Does anyone know if there are pressed coin machines on board? DH wants to be ready if there are.

Oh, and did we ever find out Finx's stateroom number?

I have 136 individual participants on the FE Group A list, is that correct?

No coin press machines on the ship that we know of. The one place that might have one that we don't visit is Quarter Masters which is the game room on deck 9 mid-ship (my girls aren't into video games).

I would think the terminal is a place they would have one, but don't remember seeing one there either. As Missy said, "If there was one we would have pressed a coin".
