Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

So are you from Titusville? Somehow, I think we have had this conversation before? You really don't understand how much you miss the space program until you not around it everyday. I never worked for NASA, but I did work for Space Camp in Titusville. The back of my house faced the east. It wasn't uncommon to see a launch from my backyard or even in my pool.

We used to have a makeshift basketball court in the backyard. (Right next to our Orange tree. miss that too). The court was nothing more than a concrete slab. We would take the basketball on occasion and throw it on the roof. If you were in the sunroom, you could hear these two BOOM BOOM sounds on the roof. My parents would always tell me or my brother to knock it off. Anyway, I was watching some show, think Cosby or Family Ties, (wow that's a dating me), and I hear these HUGE BOOM BOOMS. Scared the tar out of me! Our house back up to undeveloped property or woods. I thought someone was throwing stuff up on my house. I freaked out a little to be honest. Turned out it was the first night landing of the shuttle at the Cape. From that point on, if a shuttle was landing, I made sure I knew about it.:lmao:

I lived in Titusville for 6 years. One of my brothers is still there. I went to Imperial Estates Elementary School and used to live on Jana Drive.

I know I saw some liftoffs, but I can't remember which ones. It was a long long time ago :upsidedow

I do remember watching fireworks for the bi-centennial in Titusville. I was on my dad's shoulders and I peed my pants! :lmao: He stopped putting me up there after that!

No docs here yet, but they will be coming from my TA.

Had a weird dream last night: I left Sacramento on a Disney Cruise Line bus going to port. During the drive, I realized I didn't have my boarding passes or passport :scared1: I couldn't get anyone at home to find them. I was up sitting with the driver trying to figure out how we were going to rondevu with anyone who could get these documents to me. Luckily, I woke up! I remember that the port was in San Diego and the ride was going to be around 10 hours. Must be dreaming about the Wonder coming this way in 2011.

You can be sure I will be double and triple checking for my boarding passes and the passport before I leave Sacramento next month :lmao:

Weird dreams happening here too. Only now I can't remember the one I had a few nights ago, but I remember it was cruise related.

The big thing going on here, is my 7 year olds talk about how he is NOT going on a Boat/Ship ever again, because it might sink. Since I put up the new Dream Wallpaper on my desktop, he has become more vocal about it. The thing is, I don't know why, as he knows nothing about the cruise this fall, but knows we might cruise on the Dream next year. He mentions this Daily! Then after talking to him about how much he enjoyed last falls cruise, he says that he WILL go only on the same ship we were on before, referring to it as the "Disney Cruise Ship" or "Mickey's Boat". I tell him the Dream is also a Disney Cruise Ship and Mickey is going to be on that Boat! Then he says "Well, you can't make me go on that ship, Never, I won't go"!
I got tired of hearing this talk from him, so the other evening on our way home from MacDonalds, when he mentioned it Yet Again, I told him if he mentions Disney Again anytime soon, then we would never go back on a cruise OR WDW until he was 11yrs old. Uggghhhh, Bring on the Vacation start date, I'm SO looking forward to seeing his reaction when he finds out about THIS cruise. If anyone sees a parent carrying a kicking screaming child onto the ship, well, that might be us! :)

Patiently waiting our Cruise Documents (assuming thats what Fed Ex was here for yesterday). Their note said they were here at 11:40am. Well that will be an hour from now, if they keep to the same time frame. :upsidedow

Janice,

Thank you so much for the laugh I just had... :rotfl2: I was squinting at my screen about an inch from it and there it was " Hi Sarge".. It is a rough couple of weeks for us, My FIL started Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer, his brother passed away suddenly on Labor day weekend and work has been well if you watched channel 5 news the past few days, I work for the company that is getting railroaded..

Just an FYI to all from NJ flying from Newark Airport... If you knew the truth about what is motivating these stories about security at the airport, you would not concern yourself about saftey there. Don't believe the media spinnnn... You are all as safe as humanly possible.....

Great timing for that one Janice... I really appreciate it...(thats another drink on me)

Gerry

We usually fly from Newark but this trip we are flying out of Westchester.....I hate the media spin on everything. If we listened and believed whatever the media told us we all would be living in fear and under a rock and not eating anything!

FED EX CAME! I was confused at first because the FED EX envelope was addressed to my DH. Inside was an envelope from DCL, and again, addressed to my DH. Inside was the spiral bound booklet, containing our luggage tags and cruise info. I'm the one who booked the cruise, paid using my credit card, log into the DCL site with MY info, so very curious as to how DH's name is the one on this package?

Anyway, it's here, and interestingly, it came directly from DCL not my TA. :)

should we be bringing candy or ??? If so for how much. Sorry to sound so uninformed. I am really new to DisBoards. Love all the advice.

No worries! :) Ask away, LOL!

No you do not need to bring candy, although you are certainly welcome to either bring candy or any kind of donation to the ToT if you wish. I have volunteered to be the candy girl since we drive and that will also give me the opportunity to divide and organize it prior to leaving home to save precious time for all of us onboard!! I still have not purchased any although it is in the store calling my name (a common occurrence- ha!) :)

This post is for Nenner, any extra lanyards yet?

Not yet. I won't know for a couple of weeks, It's going to take a little bit of time to get everything printed up.

I can tell at a glance that they did not send any extra with the order (20 packages of 10) but none appear damaged either. So that having been said, my best general estimate is that there will be between 5 and 10 extra. I know that isn't a lot and that several people are interested....I wish I had been able to keep sign ups open longer but as it is I am running up to the wire.

Anyway, it's here, and interestingly, it came directly from DCL not my TA. :)

Who hears doc dancing? We do!!!!!!
:dance3::yay::banana:

No cruise docs yet, BUT.......

Today, we did receive our Magical Express envelope with our luggage tags for our pre-cruise stay at AKL! :cool1:

Makes it feel that much more real!

Same here! No cruise docs, but we got our Magical Express stuff. BLT on the front-end for two days and BCV after for two days.

I spoke to my TA, they no longer intercept the docs, the go directly from DCL to us.

BTW... a little birdy told me the 2012 rates will be released before we sail so dust off your credit cards. ;)

I was trying to complete my registration.. everything says the forms are completed, but the cruise contract is greyed out and there is a little sentence that says my docs are NOT completed.

Finally called DCL, and as usual, I forgot to authorize Anna's payment...! I do this everytime... she doesn't get charging but I have to make good if she takes my KTTW card!:rolleyes1

We got our docs! Yay! Came by Fedex, but we only have two sets, sister-in-laws have not arrived:confused3 Hope they will come tomorrow.

We have a slight issue with Tiger's name, they have left the final part of her name out (Tegeirian McQueen-Oliver instead of McQueen-Oliver Bowen) I am thinking this may be because we gave her the longest name ever, but her passport has the full name, and I don't want there to be any problem when we board. Just awaiting a response from DU that there is no difficulty, fingers crossed :wizard:

Happy to say we are sorted! DCL missed the '9' of the address, so sent the docs to number 1 instead of 19. They are at our local Fedex depot so I will pick them up this morning. And DCL have amended Tiger's full name, so looks like we are all set

I am just changing our countdown, now only 32 days until we fly!! The time is whizzing by and I definitely need to get organised.

It's going to be chaos for us for the next week or so, the Ryder Cup is coming to town! We live less than a mile from the Celtic Manor, so it is going to busy around here. Our road is closed to most traffic to allow for the buses transporting everyone to pass, so we have permits to display to be able to get in and out. Seren has lucked out again, and won a ticket through a raffle in school, so she goes on Wednesday. DH has the option of a ticket but is still undecided as he thinks he won't see a thing!
Should be a fun week, we heard Samuel L Jackson is due to arrive in our local village where he has booked out all the rooms at the hotel!

I'm so pleased that you've found your other documents and the name change is sorted too

Wow, you're in for a busy week with the Ryder Cup then. I hope you spot some celebrities. I will be watching it from the comfort (and warmth) of my sofa :rotfl2:

I am so curious as to why you chose the age 11. . . :confused3
With the ship having the same colors maybe he won't realize it is a different ship . . . or perhaps he will have so much fun on this one he won't be able to wait until the next one!!

So the fact that they were addressed to Martyn didn't stop you from opening them? :rotfl2:

Our cruise docs arrived yesterday! 5 weeks from today we'll be driving to the port by this time!

:rotfl2: Yah, thats a felony I suppose, right? But no, some mail addressed to DH, I do open (DCL, Utility bills ect...). I received something here yesterday in the mail for my DS17 who is away at College, and it was something from the Government....... That one I debated on, but then went and opened it. Good thing too. It was a notice that his Health Card is about to expire (on his Birthday in December), and gave info on where online he needs to go to set up an appointment to go get a new one and from there WHERE to go. So I'm going to Fax him the paper and I can walk him through it online (it was confusing). The new Health cards here have the individuals photo on it, so he needs to get a new picture, and we CANNOT have him without a Health Card and cannot have him wait till AFTER it expires, which would be his tendancy.
Our Thanksgiving is in two weekends from this weekend, and we were'nt planning on bringing him home for thanksgiving, as it's too expensive to fly him here (so close to our own trip), and we HAVE to make sure we get him home for Christmas, so thats where the money will go. Then this morning, my MIL calls and asks if he's coming home for Thanksgiving. So I talked to her about the plane and bus costs and time. Plane is fast, but costs and arm and a leg, bus is reasonable but it's a LONG drive and just won't work to bring him home for just a long weekend. Then MIL says maybe she has enough airmiles to fly him home. So she's going to check into that! If that works, I'm not telling our boys, I'll let it be a surprise. Tim asks often, when his biggest brother will be coming home, and how much he misses him, so that would be an awesome surprise. I have a feeling if DS17 were here that weekend, DS7 would be attached to him at the hip for the entire weekend!

Why did I choose the age of 11 when telling Tim not to mention Disney again? I've no idea. Thats just what popped out of my mouth! :rotfl: He's been good though, he hasn't mentioned it yesterday or today, yet. :)

The Magic is half way through it's transatlantic cruise. Currently in the Atlantic ahead of hurricane Lisa with no other disturbances in sight.

The recent hurricane activity in the eastern caribbean has subsided just in time to let our ship come safely home.

Next stop, St. Maarten Tuesday morning! If you are up early next Saturday you can catch her come home on the Port Canaveral Two Palms web cam.

OMG.....I have always wanted to stay at the Celtic Manor....it looks fantastic!!! Both times when we were in London I wanted to travel to Wales and vist....(my cousin has very good friends in Wales and always asks me to go with her but could never fit it in) but we ran out of time.

I think now I will just plan a week in Wales to take it all in!!! Ok...how do you pronounce Celtic Manor...is it Kell tic or Sell tic?

So we're back to going to WDW for a couple (well actually 1 day) before the cruise.

I was able to change our Poly reservation (been trying for two months and was ready to give up and just not go to WDW before the cruise) today to the Thursday and Friday night before the cruise.

I had originally booked a bounceback offer last December staying Sunday to Thursday night and planning to stay near the port on Friday night.

Now the pickings are slim for the Friday night (I do have a room booked at the doubletree in Melbourne) and we decided that 5 nights at WDW before the cruise would just be too much for us (concerned that my mom would be exhausted and end up sleeping away most of the cruise) so we were ready to just skip WDW.

Being able to get the Poly Club level at 40% off for the two nights before the cruise seems the best of both worlds.

Now I'm just debating on either the food and wine festival at Epcot on Friday or MNSSHP on Friday night.

I love the F&W festival plus I have days left on our non expiring tickets so it would only cost for food. We'd have breakfast in the lounge - ride a few things (and see Captain EO which I do want to see) then tour around the World Showcase. Probably return to the hotel in the evening and if we're hungry, nosh on the club offerings or grab something at Captn Cooks or room service. We could watch Hallowishes from the lounge at the Poly.

MNSSHP would be almost $200 but, well, it's an awesome party and I love the parade and fireworks and trick or treating around the park. And we'll have costumes with us already because of the cruise. We could spend the day doing a little shopping and lunch at Planet Hollywood. Enjoy the lounge offerings before the party and then stay out until midnight.

My parents say they're okay with either one - it's completely up to me. They'll just go along with whatever I decide.

No matter what, I plan to be munching on a piece of Tonga Toast from Captn Cooks on my way to the port. :lovestruc

Happy sailing to those who go before us and I really hope the dry dock goes well.

It is pronounced Kell-tic. It is a beautiful hotel, we are lucky enough to be gym members there (we use the excuse that it is close to home, and therefore we are more likely to use it!)

If ever you do make it over this way, you must remember to look us up, we can join you for afternoon tea :)
