Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

I just checked the trolley website. There it reads that the trolley tour is closed the Last Saturday in October for Fantasay Fest. It doesn't mention anything about Halloween day. So I think we are save to assume it's running on the 31st. :)

Yes, I called and spoke to them directly. They are very nice folks and explained they are only closed one day out of the year. Apparently the last Saturday of Fantasy Fest must be one heck of a party.

I also found it funny that the only day they are closed is the day before we get there. :goodvibes

Welcome!

NFL games can be seen in Diversions sports bar and in the Promenade Lounge. They also show Monday Night Footbal on the DumboTron by the Goofy pool.

I'm actually hoping to see the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series during our cruise.:goodvibes

Any team that can keep the Yankees out of the World Series works for me!!

I cheer for two teams, the Colorado Rockies and any team playing the Yanks!!

Was out of town for the holiday weekend. Just got home and saw the TOT list and noticed that my boys are no longer on the list, they were added 8/18 and I think neener was the one to confirm it). Is it at all possible to get them back on the list (I know I am after the closing date now, but they were at one point on the list). Hunter (9) and Chancelor (5).

I feel the same way! Although I'd like to through them stinkin' Red Sox into that mix.:rotfl:

Anyone else see the thread on the main board from a fellow cruiser of ours saying the the Trolly is closed on our Key West day?:confused3 I hope that is not actually the case... Didn't someone on this thread already buy their tickets?

Ron

The day before, not Sunday. We're good and yes we already bought tickets.

I know that they aren't the prettiest things... buttttttt has anyone tried Crocs? I know I m going to be needing new shoes/sandals for the 14 days I m in FL and have been eyeing them. I swear they are ugly as sin but I m curious. Ill take comfort over pretty any day!!

The Croc flip-flops are the BEST! I love them, I could walk miles in them!

How would the latecomer FE work? One gift per person or one per stateroom? We'd love to participate, but I just can't schelp alot of stuff and having no car in FL, I just can't go get stuff!

Thanks!

Good morning guys, I hope you all have a great day :thumbsup2

I finally finished typing up the lanyard tags! Whew!

Thought you guys might enjoy a sneak peek!

They look amazing, I can't wait to see the lanyards, they're so cool

I know exactly what you mean. I will be doing a gift per stateroom as I just won't have the room to carry much due to the weight restrictions on our flight :)

Both groups work the same. In either it is up to you to do one gift per stateroom or per person. On our last cruise we had a family from Vermont, the gave a bottle of maple syrup to each stateroom.

I am planning to ship my FE fillers down, but if you choose to do that remember you can not have any food in there. Apparently if the dogs sniff food in your box you can get a hefty fine!

I am a football fan. What a wonderful opportunity for your Seren to be on the pitch with Steven Gerrard. That said, I think it could only be topped by being on the pitch with Robin van Persie of Arsenal! :P Yes, I'm an Aresnal fan :D At least Liverpool fans can hopefully get a chance back up to the top four after the wise departure of Benietz. How L* fans could take that guy, I would never know?!

I haven't kept up with the beginning of the season and the difficulty of finding the games on tv to watch. I look forward to meeting you all in the future.
?

You will be pleased to know that the Gunners are second from top of the Premier league just behind Chelsea, they have had a great start to the season and look impressive. We are on an 'internationals' break at the moment for the European qualifiers - once again Wales lost to probably the smallest country in the world Montenegro (they have a population of just over 600,000!) so we will be happy when the Premier league gets into swing again on the weekend.

Hopefully by the time we meet, Liverpool's problems will be solved with the departure of George Gillett and Tom Hicks - what we need is a rich sheikh to sort out our financial mess!

Wow. We are impressed! My family is hugely into football -- Steve loves Manchester United, I'm a Chelsea fan, and Uncle John who is coming over tonight is a way over the top Liverpool fan. We can't wait to show him Seren's photo with Steven Gerrard. Our twins love all the teams (especially the ones with the fun colors!) so they will be hugely impressed too. We just gave the lifeguards at our pool DC United jerseys as they will all be heading back to Serbia in the next couple of days. They were so excited to get them -- just goes to show that soccer (aka football everyplace but in the USA) is a universal sport!

Beth

How great that you all love football so much! I know it has been increasing in popularity in the US somewhat, and it's great that the girls love it too. It is a universal sport, I guess partly because it is such a simple game to watch and understand, and partly I suppose because all you need is a ball and some free space. I thought the World Cup this year was great for getting all of those countries together, rich and poor, small and large, on the same stage :grouphug:

It would be nice to see the Rays in the WS.... Anyone besides the Yankees is always good esp. for us Met Fans.....:happytv:

My thoughts exactly!!!!

They look Great.. Great Job Thank You!!!:woohoo:

CROCS:

I have been wearing these for years. (Very, very flat feat and before Crocs, I could only wear athletic shoes with custom orthotics!) New Crocs have decent treads on them and I rarely slip with them. I wouldn't suggest running on wet pavement/flooring in them, but given those conditions I have slipped in most other types of shoes including athletic shoes with really good treads.

However, older crocs can have the treads nearly worn off - these are downright dangerous! I just fell 3 or 4 weeks ago wearing one of my oldest pairs. I hadn't checked them in a while and was walking down a wet, wooden staircase. I still have a few bruises!

Keep in mind that there are many styles of Crocs and not all of them are super-comfortable. The original clogs have the best support - the footbed is designed to be orthotic and they sort of mold to the shape of your foot after you have worn them for a while. Some of the sandles are pretty good also. I even have a pair of Crocs "work" shoes that look like a regular shoe and have a wedge heal. They work better for me than other "real" shoes, but are no where near as comfortable as the original Crocs.

Probably more info than anyone really wanted :rotfl2:

American Football:

Most of the games are on Sunday afternoon while we are in Key West. Last time we stopped in Key West a few years back my Chicago Bears were playing in a Playoff game that Sunday. I was able to watch it even when we were walking around Key West since most of the bars were open to the sidewalks and the TV's were easy to see! :thumbsup2 When we got back to the ship around halftime I was able to run up and watch the rest of the game on the Jumbotron. I doubt regular season games would be on the big screen (how would they pick which to show?) but as others have said, the sports bar area will have them. I'm lucky this time, my team has a bye week for Oct 31st!

Fun Fact: The large TVs on the Magic and Wonder are called "Ariel Vision", although like livingis2me said, I prefer the term "DumboTron".

For those unfamiliar, Sony used to manufacturer arena/stadium size TVs. The term "JumboTron" was trademarked by Sony, although many generically use the term for any large outdoor TV.

When DCL installed their first outdoor TV it seemed pretty natural for them to refer to it as the DumboTron, but it wasn't to be.

More fun facts...

In the process of creating a DCL Halloween Teens FaceBook account, this is a separate FB account specifically for this cruise and not a group created off an existing account.

It seemed to be the best way to allow all the teens to communicate, share photos, etc. For the moment, the group will be open and not by invitation only, but that can be changed if we think it makes more sense to do so.

I will be sending out emails, PMs, and a post on this thread probably later tonight. Please let your teens know, so we can get a big response from the very beginning.

Thanks for your paticipation,

Jeff

Looking great!

I happen to see my tags in the sneak peak. It looks like mu43-5's name might be spelled wrong. Its hard to read but it looks like "Tony" -- it should be "Toni" (that's my Mom). (And, mu43-4 should be "Russ" -- I think this one is right but it looks a little like "Ross" -- hard to tell at this resolution.)

Thanks,
Brian

Ack! I'm sorry!! No worries though, I will fix that! :flower3:

I am making t-shirts for my family using the same cruise logo that is on the lanyards. The kids are wearing white t-shirts, and I am hoping to convince DH to wear a black t-shirt with me. I have both types of transfer paper and have already printed out the transfers for the kids t-shirts.

I was hoping to add something to the back of the shirts. Like a concert tour list, with the dates and port stops listed. Unfortunately, I do not have graphic or design software and the capabilities of my computer to do such a thing is, well, non-existant. Plus, I'm not that talented in that area really.

I was wondering if someone else may have already done this, and if so, could you share the design with me?

I was looking to something similar for the concert tour as well. What programs do anyone use for graphic with the word over lays?

I have one I made for our shirts. I haven't printed or applied it yet so I don't know how good it looks in reality. We are wearing black shirts so it is in white. Anyone who wants to is welcome to use it. I made it in Photoshop Elements, but it is saved as a .png which will open in any image viewer/editor.

Also if you do save the design (you can use it for a magnet or anything else, I don't mind), when you click on it it will open in Photobucket, be sure to click on "zoom in" over 76% in the upper left hand corner and that will bring it up full size! It is sized at 8.5 x 11 for a letter-sized transfer sheet. :goodvibes And of course when printing it, be sure to choose Transfer in your properties menu so it will be reversed for Tshirt printing! :thumbsup2

Since it is impossible to see on this background here is also a preview shown on black.

And thank you all for your comments on the lanyard tags. I'm glad you like them!! I can't wait for the order to get here so I can see what they look like fully assembled! :goodvibes
