Oct 13, 2012 Fantasy who's going

Hi all!

I'm so glad to join this little community. :)

Stateroom: 6146
DIS Name: MommaBerd
Names/Age(s): Robin (40) DH Josh (38)
Where From: 'Burbs of Atlanta
Dining - late or early: Late
Celebrating: Belated 40th Birthday for me (September) and 10 year anniversary (on the 19th)
Participating in the Fish Extender: Not sure yet...sounds like fun, though!

This will be our first cruise and we are *so* excited. We have four DS's ages 13, 8, 5, 4 - and though we love them lots, we love our time together without them, too! Like many other adults, I'm sure, we're getting the "Why are you going on a *Disney* cruise by yourselves?!?" But, we know that the level of service Disney provides is heads and shoulders above everyone.

Take care and I look forward to sailing with you all!

(I need to work on my signature! Hopefully this weekend...)

Welcome aboard - your info is posted on the 1st page :surfweb:

I remember from my last Disney cruise that there used to be a 5k that you could run on Castaway Cay but I haven't seen any info about it. Has anyone run it before or know if they are still doing it? I am thinking about attempting it and it would be good incentive to get in shape for the cruise.

Thank you Jill that info answered all of my questions. You are a wealth of information! I'm sad that I will not get to meet you on our cruise :guilty: but very happy that you are staying close to our thread. :)

I did the 5K on our last cruise and it was very fun. We started at 9:30am. I will say with the humididty it was tougher than most of my runs and also i learned not to run in my swim trunks. had a little chaffing in the wrong areas, if you know what I mean. The next mornign in my FE I received a certifiacte and a water bottle for participatiing. The runs is not timed, just out to have some fun. This was my second time to castaway cay and i did not realize how big it was until I did the run. Later my wife and i walked it again since they have an observation tower you can go up and see the whole island.

Sounds like fun! Thanks for the tip about the swimsuit that is exactly what I intended on doing. I will have to rethink that now. Did you sign up for the run with the excursions or did you just show up?

Just show up at the starting point and sign your name. Easy as that.

Here is a GPS of the 5k route on Castaway Cay
