Obi Wan Predictions

Watched and we found it to be terrible. Sorry for all the lovers out there. Little Leia is way too young looking. Looks 5 to us. And the capture scene was soooo bad. Also the villain actress (Reva?) is terrible. Just way over the top and not organic at all. The positive is McGregor. He is fabulous.

But did you all see Stranger Things?!?! THAT was phenomenal.

Have only watched the first two of the newly dropped episodes, as I watch with DS and we are coordinating around opposite schedules right now. But really enjoying having it back!

I really liked Stranger Things 4! Loved the Kate Bush scene in the Upside Down with Max, that was one of the highlights for me. I forgot that ST does it's seasons in halves, because I was really getting into it until it ended abruptly.

The YouTube channel Auralnauts does lots of re-dubbed Star Wars videos and music mixes. Their version of Threepio, "Creepio", has become it's own thing, complete with mini "Creepio's Corner" videos.

And Obi Wan is called "Larry" in their versions. Here's a Obi Wan car ad, which I've never seen outside of Auralnauts:

I kept telling DH they had a lot to wrap up in the last episode and he was like "it's a long episode, like a movie length, so it will get there". Then we got to like 15 mins left and were like...uhhhh. Then I realized it's part 1 of the season...a la TWD. Also, LOVE Kate Bush so that was also a highlight for me.

Mixed reviews here. I LOVED episode 3. Hubby thought it was just ok. Love how it unfolded. I think we'll get some explanation of why it played out the way it did on the next episode. Loved the name drop too of a certain Jedi

My only issue with it is that it seemed too quick - either it was a shorter episode or it felt like it went by so fast! I have no complaints about the content though - it was great!

Saw a TV ad for some new Star Wars movie. I think it is going to be on one of those pay channels (vs. being in the theatre). Ad seemed geared for avid Star Wars fans since it jumped around so fast to various characters/scenes, I honestly had no idea what I was looking at. Isn't Obiwan a character from the original movies? I wonder how many sequels they can keep making with variations of the original cast.

It's for the Disney+ show Obi-Wan Kenobi, which has 6 episodes and just started being released last week. Obi-Wan Kenobi is indeed from the original movies, played by Sir Alec Guiness. A younger version of Obi-Wan was in the Prequels in the late 90's, played by Ewan McGreggor, who is also playing him in this show, now older and closer to the age of the character in the originals (about 10 years prior now).

It seems that you aren't a big Star Wars fan, but if you want to come into the fold you are always welcome and we're here to help if you have any questions. 🙂

True not really that big of a Star Wars fan.......LOL. I liked the original Star Wars series but when they started going backward/forward and introducing a lot of new characters I just lost interest and found it hard to follow.

Most of the newer ones seem like an effort to keep the franchise going and there are only so many variations on the good vs evil theme. I have moved on but saw that TV ad and figured some new material was apparently being released.

There have been several shows on Disney+ already, with more on the way. They have been quite popular so far, with The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett. There are also some animated shows and there will be new movies eventually, though there hasn't been much detail released on that.

It can definitely be hard to follow, especially as they add more shows that take place in different eras. Before it was just the Prequels, but now there are the Sequels and shows that usuallt fill in the gaps in between. I know many were confused by The Mandalorian's placement in the timeline, but it is a few years after Return of the Jedi.

Episode 3 was better than the first two.

I think it will turn out that Reva is looking for a child, relative or lover who was a Jedi and wants Ben to tell her what happened to them.

And I was surprised that Vader walked right by Ben without sensing he was there, but in A New Hope he sensed that Ben was on the Death Star with seemingly no problem.

We loved Episode 3 - It went by so fast - it was fantastic but I am so sad that we are already half way through.

I was surprised by that too. However He kept jumping out at Obi, surprise birthday party style, from every nook and cranny of those grain piles/dunes.

I loved hearing James Earl Jones again! This is also interesting that this moment is Obi's first time seeing Anakin since the flaming cheetos world of Mustafar.

I really liked it overall, probably the best episode yet. Ok one thing:
Obi Wan's flaming getaway scene was a bit clunky to me. Visually, not to mention it seemed too easy a getaway.

And finally, I know this is a TV series, but since we're returning to the main canon characters, I would have thrown in the classic Star Wars screen wipe transitions, and probably more steadicam than shaky cam. If there were screen wipes used, maybe I just didn't notice them?

I just learned that Zach Braff voiced Freck the alien, never would have guessed.

Sad to discover that Moses Ingram, Reva, received many racist comments on her social media for appearing in Obi Wan. You would think that in a universe of diverse beings of all shapes and sizes, skin color wouldn't be an issue.

I would like to say I was surprised by the hate she (Moses) has been getting, but sadly i am not. It is all to predictable nowadays. I cringed discussing it after the premiere when folks were like ..."Well, it was great except for one main character".... and I was like oh come on, dont be THAT a$$.

I love her character and think she does a great job.

Yeah, some fans are just ridiculous - and they want to hide it behind criticizing her acting. First of all, her acting is great - I think she comes across as pretty menacing, which is perfect for the role. Then some blame the writing, but only for her? That doesn't make much sense. The show is very well done, and sure the writing is a bit over the top, but it's Star Wars - that's pretty normal.
