That is simply good marketing and graphic design. His last name starts with O (in case you weren't paying attention). The circle makes perfect sense. If you see a halo, that is your own indoctrination getting the better of you. It is a connection some people will make and some won't. Again, good design.

When Obama speaks...it is a "joy" to hear someone who does it well.
Our current leader should only speak to Nursery schools:rolleyes1

Seriously....if Obama takes some religious votes away from the religious right:worship: :worship:

Obama could raise $100 million in June, fundraisers say
Leading Democratic fundraisers predict that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few months if he opts out of public financing and begins raising money for the general election.

and...

Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion.
As quoted in the article "Scientology: Anatomy of a Frightening Cult" by by Eugene H. Methvin. Reader's Digest (May 1980)
I always knew he was exceedingly anxious to hit big money — he used to say he thought the best way to do it would be to start a cult.
Sam Merwin, Editor of Thrilling Science Fiction magazine Winter of 1946-47; quoted in Bare-Faced Messiah, The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard (1987) by Russell Miller

Thing is, I think President Bush's presidency is the single worst thing to ever happen to this country, so even if you end up being 100% correct and all of your cynically misplaced worries come true...we'll be even. Isn't that special? :goodvibes

:lmao: ::yes::
I've been unhappy for 8yrs....time to share the "goodwill";)

Completely pathetic, although I suppose I should be glad that the discourse has come to this. It means that any legitimate conversation has just about run its course.

Stupid question. My support is completely political

But if he was the second coming, the OP would be in pretty big trouble.

No, it would be smart of him to create a religious-type fervor, which is what he's accomplished. This is what comes to my mind when you combine that religious-like fervor of some of his supporters with the suggestion by prominant supporters that BOs accomplishments deserve an addition to the bible. It's not a big leap IMO.

You were comparing him to L. Ron Hubbard. L. Ron Hubbard was addicted to narcotics, mentally ill, a liar, a con man, and a man most of us would consider a cult leader. Not a favorable comparison and NOT accurate either. Perhaps if Obama is trying to create a religious fervor (and I am not sure that is his doing) he is taking a page out of the Republican play book.

Amazing how the Bush supporters talk the way they do about religious fervor for a candidate without the slightest hint of irony, isn't it?

:rotfl2: I did not compare the men at all, just their tactics used in meeting their individual objectives. I thought that was obvious. :confused3

So Obama's got supporters so fervent, they consider him to be the second coming and McCain's supporters aren't interested in even creating a single thread about their party's new standard bearer, dislike 60% of what he stands for, and could take him or leave him? As I said earlier, good luck come November....

My dh is a big JMC fan but I"ve already told him to be planned to open up our wallets nice and wide, wider now, almost wide enough, come next year.

By the time Obama is finished no one will need a wallet because a coin purse would fit the bill with room left over. I also told him that we need to see the accountant prior to his inaugeration.

I have no doubt that Obama will win this election.

Guess some people can't come up with a good argument against his policies, so they make up crap like this. :confused3

*What* policies??? :confused3 I think thats a big part of the concern with those of us whom dont care for BO - which IMO, is an amusing way to refer to him, as. :rotfl:

 Even I didn't think y'all would be able to twist this one around to a Bush bash fest. :rotfl:

:lmao: But not the first time a OS has said that to me on these boards!

That is EXCATLY how I see Obama!

I am neither a Bush Supporter nor a Obama supporter!

The only thing non-BO supporters have observed is the complete and unquestionable adoration of BO by OS. The references to Messiah/Jesus/adding to the Bible -have come from OS directly, yourself excluded. I have likened BO to a rock star -- I will never equate him to Jesus/ or another religious figure.

I must have been sleeping for the past 8 years -- I missed all the fervor over GWB. :confused3

Not if you ask Scientologists, he wasnt. Absolutely not - at all - what-so-ever.

Thats kinda the point. Those who follow dont see him for what he is. :) ::yes::

Y'know - those fun, rose-colored glasses. :3dglasses

I wouldn't either, but I would equate it to a cult-like persona. JMHO
