Obama the 'Second coming'?????

Does Obama fulfill a religious need for You?

  • Yes

  • No

  • What a stooooooooopid question!

Results are only viewable after voting.
I'm an atheist and I support Obama. If I were old enough to vote I would be happy to vote for him, but it has nothing to do with religion. That would be a weird reason to vote for somebody to be president.

All these highly comical threads about Obama being the second coming, the anti christ, a communist, a terrorist, etc., alot of silly Republican giggling, and not a single one about any of Maverick McCain's positives. Not for nothing Conservatives, but I'm not loving your chances this November...

And I'm not an Obama fan, just someone tired of these ridiculous attempts to discredit him and his supporters.

Guess some people can't come up with a good argument against his policies, so they make up crap like this. :confused3

Thank you.

The attempts are ridiculous. A few tingly people does not make a serious trend. THe attempts to discredit in this fashion speak about the reporter than to the tingly person.

I especially agree with the second statement. Frankly, this kind of crap just smacks of desperation. If folks need to continually need to put down the oppostion with this type of innuendo, it speaks volumes of what they think of their own candidate.

But unfortunatly we wll be hearing it for months to come.

I think that a few of his supporters seem to have this almost religious fervor thing going on but truthfully only a few. Most just seem to think he'd make a good President.

Politics is the religion of the far left.

I am a fierce supporter of separation of Church & State. However ever since the Oprah "He is the One" speech...I have noticed a huge Religious fervor surrounding the Obama campaign. So much so that I personally find his campaign laughable.

And if anybody cares to read the article I posted, some of Obamas adamant supporters DO equate him to a messiah.

27,000 and you're a bit closer to the truth...

For instance, The logo in Laugh O Grams sig is IMO very Jesus like! This is also on Obamas website.

Also Official pics like this are NO Accident.

More like the Anti-Christ than the second coming...

That is not to say I believe he is the Anti-Christ, just that he is closer to the former than the latter in my eyes.

It is absolutely ridiculous that Obama supporters are generalized as blind zealots who think he is a "messiah"! Sure, some are out in left field in their devotion to him but not the majority! I am an Obama supporter and it is because of his policy ideas on health care, economy, college tuition, etc...
I find it interesting that the "left" is considered to be "religionless" and the right has the cornerstone on accepted faith.
I also think it is ridiculous that he is being compared to an "Anti-Christ" - come on, people -be a little rational here!
So, in answer - I think it is a very stupid question.

Thought you'd appreciate this DISUNC

L. Ron Hubbard is widely rumored to have said "The way to make a million dollars is to start a religion." There are also variant rumors. For some reason, this is often mentioned on Usenet. Evidence is discussed below, but the short answer is that it's almost certainly true.

OK, your coworker is a whackjob, but as for the first part of your post, the same can be said of Clinton supporters, Bush supporters, McCain supporters (well, his few true supporters that is, not the ones reluctantly voting for him as the lesser of 2 evils), etc, etc.

And I'm not an Obama fan, just someone tired of these ridiculous attempts to discredit him and his supporters.

Obviously you both have missed numerous posts on the conservative thread and on other threads. First, I haven't met IRL or on this board any person who blindly follows John McCain. Second, I have seen many point out the fallacies in the proposed policies/promises of BO. Third, there have many been posts about positives of McCain's proposals.

I really wish the McCain bashers would make up their minds -- either he is not conservative enough for us conservatives or he is the third term of Bush -- obviously it can't be both. Please make up your minds.

I am definitly not saying it is not there, but I have gone through perhaps 50 pctures so far on his official website and I have not found it. If it is out there trying to "influence" the holy vote, they certainly are not tryng real hard.

So Obama's got supporters so fervent, they consider him to be the second coming and McCain's supporters aren't interested in even creating a single thread about their party's new standard bearer, dislike 60% of what he stands for, and could take him or leave him? As I said earlier, good luck come November....

That is simply good marketing and graphic design. His last name starts with O (in case you weren't paying attention). The circle makes perfect sense. If you see a halo, that is your own indoctrination getting the better of you. It is a connection some people will make and some won't. Again, good design.

Whenever there is an issue about Obama -- i.e., Wright, Michelle, Pleger, BO's own misstatements, etc., not one OS will admit error or even admit that it "appears" bad -- it is always this is what he meant, blah blah blah blah blah - if you don't agree with us you are a racist. Moreover, IRL - the BO supporters are now accusing Bill Clinton of being racist -- give me a real break. You can't make this stuff up.

As for your second part - I don't see any legitimacy in your argument that there is not a separate McCain thread. There was no need -- however, since there was such a heated democratic primary - there was a need to separate the lib thread into HS and BS.

I think BO will be the worst thing to ever happen to the US -- all incentives to succeed will be gone. Be ready to open your wallet -- and then see how well the economy will be ... Oh, and would you mind sending me whatever BO has supplied you with for that happy feeling - - I'm going to need lots if he should happen to win - because I sure don't see the attraction.

Thing is, I think President Bush's presidency is the single worst thing to ever happen to this country, so even if you end up being 100% correct and all of your cynically misplaced worries come true...we'll be even. Isn't that special? :goodvibes
