Obama Supporters, A question?

I am very disturbed at some posters on here and I am trying REALLY hard to understand where exactly they are coming from.

You want change so you WILL ONLY vote for Obama who is of the Democratic party BUT if Hillary wins the nomination you are going to vote for McCain.

For those of you that are doing that - Thanks for killing thousands of more soliders.

I don't care if I get points for that. Not one person has clarifed that question as several other posters had asked - Why if you are a REGISTERED Democrat would go vote for McCain if Hillary instead of Obama gets the nod.

I am sick to my stomach. Why would you turn your backs on your own party in such a way. That is terrible. Again I will take my words back when you give me good reason why. Don't bring up the whole Bill thing because that is not what this is about, it has nothing to do with this at all. Don't use him as a scapegoat.

Please I seriously need to know, it is really bothering me......
It's bothering me too but I have yet to get a good answer. Good luck with that.

Maybe they just don't like her because she is a strong powerful woman and a lot of people find that intimidating. There seems to be more prejudice against gender than anything else, and I don't understand it.

I've been asking this question for roughly 10 years or so when confronted with the vitriol people have towards Hillary. Other than a few rare instances, I've yet to get an answer. They'll talk about how they don't trust her, but give no reason why that's so. They'll talk about how they don't like her politics (as if that would give reason for hatred), but won't be able to even talk about her politics other than the healthcare issue she's famous for.

Which is exactly why I'm so confused. For the past few months I've seen the same people state their hatred for Clinton over ad over again, yet they never actually have a reason why. They always have a "hunch" that she's untrustworthy or "there's just something about her." :confused3

Or it's something about Bill's indiscretions or whatever. It almost makes me want to vote for McCain if Obama gets elected but that won't happen!

Yep! Prejudice is the key word. Prejudice usually has no real grounds as to why someone hates a race, gender, person, etc. There are a lot of people in this Country that are prejudice against Hillary with no real reason to back it up.

I think it is a real shame that people will vote for McCain just so Hillary doesn't get to be President. Seriously could Hillary be any worse then Baby Bush or McCain who sees us at War for the next 100 years????
I wish people could see Hillary with an open mind. If one supports Obama so much and agrees with him on the key issues, tell me how Hillary's stand on those same issues are so much different! I thought voting for a President means voting for the issues you agree with not someone's personality or last name?
I just don't get people's thinking! :confused3

Like I said I am not 100% sold on Obama as President but I would much rather see him in the White House then McCain!

First of all, I registered as a Democrat so I could vote in our Caucus for Obama. In the state of Washington your vote will not count for a candidate unless you choose either Dem or Rep, Independents do NOT have their votes counted.
Secondly, and you may see this as foolish, but I have to vote for someone who I can respect. Hillary is not that person for me. I respect that she is that person for you, but she is NOT that person for me. I don't like her, I don't trust her and she's (JMHO) a longstanding member of the "more of the same" club. I love Bill Clinton, but I don't need all that crap dredged up again. I had to have a conversation with my then 4yo DD about "oral sex" because it was all over the news. And just how do you explain the a little kid what exactly the president did with that flippin' cigar? And right now, Bill & Hill are playing dirty, down in the mud dirty, and I don't want them back in the White House.
I want a change. I want a president who kids will look up to. I remember days when I was a kid that there was a pic of the president in every classroom and little kids aspired to being the president when they grew up. I want to believe and I DO believe that it can happen in my lifetime. Look at the amount of young people standing up for Obama, they want to change the world and change the dirtiness of politics.
Kennedy had multiple affairs, its a wonder he had time to do his job, but everyone seems to forget about that. Infact some people say they love Obama because they remind them of Kennedy. So why is it ok for one but not the other. I personally don't care about their personal like, just as long as they do their job. We were in the black after he got us out of the red. Clinton did great things when he was president.

Exactly, and this isn't even about Bill which is what gets me so mad. He did something stupid while in the White House and he paid for it. But this isn't Bill running, it's Hillary. And like a previous poster stated, you can't get much worse than the president we're dealing with now... as the saying goes "When Bill lied noone died." :thumbsup2

DH and I have been talking about this situation. We lean much more to Obama than anyone else. We don't consider ourselves Democrat or Republican but lean more toward the Dem's stance. Neither one of us care for Hillary Clinton but clearly wouldn't want McCain to win either. I think we are still undecided if the election is McCain vs. Clinton

I totally agree with this. I vote Republican sometimes and Democrat sometimes -- just depends on whos ideas I like better. I really don't like Hilary so I won't vote for her if she is the Dem nominee. I do like Obama quite a bit so I would vote for him. If it was Clinton vs McCain -- I'd probably vote Mc Cain.

I don't discuss the why of why I don't like HRC for several reasons.

Some of the information I know was learned at work. So of the things I'm able to talk about, I'm still not comfortable disclosing those things. It feels like gossip. I also don't think anything I say will or should change someones views, so why get into slinging the dirt?

I will say my views have nothing to do with her gender or her marriage though. They have to do with her past actions, her responses to them and what I have observed of her in person.

So can we stop accusing those posters that don't like Hillary of having character defects? Really. It's gettin' old.

No one said anything about character defects :confused3 It's just getting old for so many people to hate her for no reason. There still hasn't been an actual reason given as to why so many people have such strong hatred for her that didn't involve Bill or some random "gossip." I'm just curious as to actual reasons.

I am a democrat, registered in the state of Florida (where my vote counts at election time in November). I am also marrying a man in the military. I will NOT vote for Clinton but will vote for Obama. And to tell me thanks for killing 1000 more soldiers is uncalled for in my opinion, that my family who has volunteered to go over there for this country. I'm not pro this war, but also realize its not so easy to just pull people out and have more soldiers killed in the war, and am also not pro a lot of things Clinton wants to do either, her health care policy stinks (so does Obama's). No party has it perfect. And just because you are registered in one party doesn't mean you can't vote for another, people who are that naive not to even listen to the other candidate need to reevaluate where they stand in my opinion, it's people like that who have made this country so divided on both sides (Repubs and Dems). It's sad.

First of all - thank you for your service to our country.

Second - in the primary elections - in most democratic elections - you must declare yourself a democrat before you vote in it. Some states allow you to do this the day of the election if you are undeclared ....... in NJ if you were previously a Republican - you had to change your affiliation 3 months before the primary election. This is to avoid a clever scheme whereby the other party could try to pick the person they want to run against!

I think this is the first time in a long time we have a lot of independents voting in the primaries in great numbers. This is benefiting Obama greatly. I think that is why you see a good number of Obama supporters refusing to vote for Hillary.

I have already voted - and you can see by my signature who I voted for.

Hillary is "polarizing" mostly because right-wing-radio-types like to hate on her. Those same folks are going to attack Obama non-stop too. Heck, they are hating on McCain, and he's a Republican.
I doubt that the Democrats who have posted in this thread, and find Hillary polarizing, listen to right wing radio.

If both Hillary and Obama's heath care plans stink, then why is there such a huge different between the two? What exactly is it about Clinton's policy that you're against that you would be so against voting for her? I'm honestly asking out of curiosity because again no one has an actual answer. :confused3

Yes, I understand that you have to declare a party to vote in the primaries almost everywhere (you definitely have to in Florida). So in that regard I understand. Gotta love voting policies :) I guess I may be an independent, but agree more with Democrats so registered with them, I want my right to help choose (even though I live in Florida, haha). I respect Hilary advocates, but she's just not the right choice for me or my family.

Why if you are a REGISTERED Democrat would go vote for McCain if Hillary instead of Obama gets the nod.
First off, I'm a registered Independent, which means I get to decide who I vote for, not be tied to a particular candidate because he/she is my party's nominee. It means I get to listen and think, decide what my priorities are then vote accordingly. No one candidate is all that I'd like. I disagree with Obama on certain things. I disagree with McCain too. I just have to decide what I can and can't live with, and cast my vote. And, just so those who want to know can know, I've voted in every election and primary since I was able to, I am not a new voter.

Second, I agree with the poster who said that their opinion is their own, and doesn't feel the need to give you the reasons why they won't vote for a particular person. Why is it so important for some of you to know why someone else won't vote for Hillary? I'm not asking why you won't vote for McCain as it's none of my business.

There seems to be more prejudice against gender than anything else, and I don't understand it.
FYI, I'm a woman so race has nothing to do with it.

It's different if you're an independent because then it goes either way. But when we're having a political discussion I find it very interesting that a registered Democrat would purposely vote against the person representing their party because they hate them so much, so I'm interested in knowing what exactly it is that's keeping people from voting. There's STILL no actual answer, it's like nobody knows!

Both are great candidates. I had a hard time deciding. I ultimately voted for Obama. I decided that sometimes it is important to have someone who can persuade people on the issues while in office. Plus, I will admit that the Clintons behavior in SC was not in step with my beliefs.

I really respect John McCain. I can only imagine that if he is elected it will be better than Bush. But, that being said, I just don't agree with him on too many issues - in particular his war stance. Despite what happened in SC, I will look past it if the Clintons clean up their act and she is the candidate.

I assume you mean "gender" and not "race".

Does the name Anita Bryant ring a bell? This will show my age, but she was one of the most vocal opponents of the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970's. Gender means nothing when it comes to being prejudiced against women. I'm not saying that you are or that you are not, but your gender does not automatically exclude you.

Again, I'm quite sure people know why they won't vote for a particular person. Maybe they just don't feel the need to share it with you.

I'm sure I'd love to sit and have a cup of tea with you and talk WDW or sports (maybe;) ) but I am not going to discuss my political views with you. That and religion are pretty much no-no's. Even my DH and I don't tell each other who we vote for. It's just personal.

I assume you mean "gender" and not "race".
Too funny...yes, that's what I meant!
