Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign

While that is a little hinky if his name wasn't printed on the ballot, I hope people are writing him in!

How in God's name does a country like ours not get a verifiable paper trail ballot and voting machines that work?!

In December 2000, the American public gave up it's voting rights to the Supreme Court. It's been downhill from that point on. From that point on, it was open season on voting rights. If someone could get away with taking the vote away from Americans, they could get away with anything.

This is what happens when people up their rights in the name of expediency or security. I'd love for Planet Bush to explain how giving up one's rights makes one safer.

Blog from Seth Grahame-Smith

In hope of preventing some of this hysteria (especially my own), I thought it'd be helpful to keep a few things in mind during Tuesday night's results -- from Hillary's "victory" speech to the blizzard of spin that's sure to follow:

1. Remember that there's no way Hillary can become the nominee without a superdelegate coup -- which would alienate a generation of young Democrats and dangerously fracture the party.

2. Remember that her campaign leaked internals showing an eleven point lead (as a means of firing up her supporters and getting out the vote). Therefore, any win smaller than eleven points should be considered a disappointment by her own assessment.

3. Remember that every time Hillary begins a sentence with "you know," or "my opponent," the next thing out of her mouth is a lie.

4. Remember that when Clinton surrogates say "this proves Obama can't win the big states," they're ignoring the fact that he actually won more delegates in Texas -- not to mention twice as many states as she has.

5. Remember that when the pundits argue that Obama can't win in white rural areas because they broke for Hillary, they're ignoring the fact that he won (in alphabetical order): Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

6. Remember that when Hillary talks about who will be "better against John McCain in the fall," she's talking about the fall of 2012.

7. Remember that Hillary's campaign is $10M in debt, while Obama's has more than $40M in cash on hand.
8. Remember that Hillary's lead in Pennsylvania was as a high as 26 points only a month ago.

9. Remember that Hillary's late Pennsylvania rebound was forged in the fires of negativity and fear-mongering.

10. Remember that the only manufacturing job Hillary ever brought to Pennsylvania was the manufactured notion that she was a middle-class, whisky-swilling duck killer, and not an anti-union multi-millionaire.

And everything that comes out of Bill's Mouth is a lie one way or the other, since he comes out on both sides of the fence on most issues, he can always say he's somewhere in the middle I suppose :rolleyes1 (And yes I voted for him twice)

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/04/22/93109...

NBC/NJ: “Sir, what did you mean yesterday when you said that the Obama campaign was playing the race card on you?”

CLINTON: “When did I say that, and to whom did I say that?

NBC/NJ: “On WHYY radio yesterday”

CLINTON: “No, no, no. That’s not what I said. You always follow me around and play these little games, and I’m not going to play your games today. This is a day about election day. Go back and see what the question was, and what my answer was. You have mischaracterized it to get another cheap story to divert the American people from the real urgent issues before us, and I choose not to play your game today. Have a nice day.”

NBC/NJ: “On WHYY radio yesterday”

--- what he actually said on WHYY radio:

INTERVIEWER (RE: Jackson comment): “Do you think that was a mistake, and would you do that again?"

CLINTON: "No. I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything, that they planned to do it along.

As an aside, the BBC is reporting (Worldwide) the obliterate comment made my HRC in regards to Iran, it's on their front page... After 7 years of the worldwide community laughing at us, I would have hoped for something better, but nope.... Plenty of fodder on this one....

I used to really admire Bill Clinton...this election season has ruined that for me.

I was reading some comments from supporters on the Obama blog and there have been calls to radio stations that some ballots don't even have Obama's name on them? :confused3

I'm new to PA and when I went to vote today my county had a printed paper ballot. Not only was Obama's name there, he was the first one on top. Very Easy!

The officials told me there will be paper ballots for November also. They had so much trouble with the electronic machines they sent back all of them. That's fine by me. I like having a paper trail!

Wait, you're in PA & have paper ballots? I thought they had converted every precinct to electronic machines? Why are some precincts with paper ballots, some without? If the machines weren't good enough in your precinct, what about the precinct next door?

Glad to hear you voted though :) and that it went smoothly, that's better!

I know what you mean :sad2: Maybe it was because I was younger that I didn't see what his character was really like, maybe I was just blinded, I've no idea, maybe he's changed over the years, who's to say, I just can't say that I respect him nearly so much anymore... It's on video when he says this stuff, does he not know that??

Thanks for letting us know - it's a bit concerning reading some of the reports about malfunctioning machines and some of these provisional ballots possibly not having Obama's name on them.

It's up to each individual county (or even precinct), I suppose :confused3 . Like I said, I'm a newbie. I'm used to the old New York lever machines that are apparently indestructable. I'm in the boonies up here so I wasn't too surprised. Actually I was more surprised that they had tried electronic machines at all! And they did say quite clearly that paper will be used this November too.

That IS really odd, I always assumed each state had a statewide program, learn something new everyday....

And those Lever machines are indestructible LOL...

SIGNS OF RECORD TURNOUT IN PHILLY AND ‘BURBS
Bright skies, record enrollment in the Democratic Party and the potential for Barack Obama to throw a knockout punch or Hillary Clinton to hang on to fight another day are all spurring what is shaping up as a huge early turnout in Philadelphia and its surrounding counties.

It is way to soon to say who has the advantage, but Democratic sources tell The Mouth that the vote through midday was high to very high in Philadelphia, Montgomery County, Bucks County, Delaware County and Chester County. Philly, Montgomery and Bucks are key to Obama keeping an expected Clinton victory within 10 points statewide, Obama insiders predict.

All I can add to this is dont remember him for who he is know but who he was than. He has been said to be one of our greatest POTUS ever. No dought there have been times during these primaries he has inserted his foot in his mouth....as McCain, Hillary, Obama and Michelle. They are all guilty of saying the wrong things at the wrong times. But dont let that get in the way of than. Only now :thumbsup2

During the administration of William Jefferson Clinton, the U.S. enjoyed more peace and economic well being than at any time in its history. He was the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term. He could point to the lowest unemployment rate in modern times, the lowest inflation in 30 years, the highest home ownership in the country's history, dropping crime rates in many places, and reduced welfare rolls. He proposed the first balanced budget in decades and achieved a budget surplus. As part of a plan to celebrate the millennium in 2000, Clinton called for a great national initiative to end racial discrimination.

I am not talking about his record here, of course I am a democrat and I am proud of all the things listed above...the low unemployment and balanced budget. However, when I hear him say things on the campaign trail like..."Well even Jesse Jackson won the South Carolina primary," and his denial of saying to WHYY that Obama's campaign played the race card against him, when he clearly, and on tape did, well I start to view him in a different light. When he was out on the road waving his finger around a lot in campaign speeches, I was like, "Wow, I never saw Bill this way, and I don't like it." I never said he was not a great president, it is just now I feel that I have seen another side to him that I am not fond of.
I do remember him then, 1992 was the first election I ever voted in and I voted for him, as I did again in 1996.

Yes he does seem different. I have caught that also. Not sure if it is him or that he does not know which way to go in his situation of once being President and the high honcho to possibly first man:confused3

Either way he is different. But many that have heard him speak have said he was great. I did not hear him. Maybe since we are hearing about his inserting foot in mouth that we are seeing it worse than it is....who knows :confused3

I myself in the beginning was questioning if he really wanted Hillary to run for POTUS.

That IS really odd, I always assumed each state had a statewide program, learn something new everyday....

This shouldn't surprise you but Texas does not have a statewide standard for voting, either. If you choose to vote early in my county you had to use a machine. On election day my precinct had a choice of paper or machine. It varies from county to county and often from precinct to precinct.

To change the topic (since I'm avoiding all mention of the PA. primary until after dinner), here's the spanish bio page I've prepared for the local media. All of the information is pilfered off the website (and spellchecked).

Any opinions are appreciated :)
