Too many years of presidents who's actions either embarrassed us, or let us down, or got us into a war with no plan has left many sarcastic and bitter. It's time to set that aside, and think about what we really want for our country.

It's our future. It's our time It's our choice.

Honu,
Thanks for posting this. I really hope this gets out so more folks read it.

Honu, I just borrowed this and posted it on the 'typical' thread. Hope you don't mind.

That's great!

Now for the bad news.....

In replying to questions about a contest between McCain and his wife today, Bill Clinton said....

"I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country," said the former president. "And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

What an *##&^%@!

No worries, there will be a response... have faith.... Bill's trying to pivot off having Wright in his White House on a day they'd all like to forget...

I haven't been on the board in a few days, but have you guys seen this article from the Washington Post?

Another Angry Black Preacher: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy.../03/20/AR2008032003021.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

The article is about Dr. King.

This also deserves it's own thread on page one. I have a slightly unique life experience, in that I've lived for some periods of time as a minority in a local population...even though I'm white. Maybe it gives me a different perspective, but I just can't get over so many white people demanding race be discussed only in the context and terms that they choose. The call that Obama was attempting to make was for us to listen and dialogue with one another. Sarcastic complaints from those that have decided Obama's grandmother wasn't portrayed to their liking don't further the discussion one bit. But, it does allow many to avoid even opening an honest discussion about race in America.

I agree, but the problem, is that his speech, and discussions are meant for adults with open eyes and an IQ of more than 80, and far too many of us are like children on the playground. Yeh, it's easy to fault someone else to build yourself up. Like we are all perfect? I think not. The holier than nows are just too holy to ever admit there's a side they never thought of.

These people you will never get through to, and that is supremely saddening. I hope nobody takes offense at what I say, but I feel this is the thread I can be truthful.

Sorry if this has already been talked about...I have been out of the loop for a few days due to a sick child. BUT why is there a banner going across this board advertising for John Mccain? Is that who the DIS is backing? Just wondering?:confused3

Google ads search for words in our posts and target the ads based on them. The more you type his name, the more it will appear.

I am working on feeling more hopeful, and less discouraged by all the back and forth semantics. Bill Richardson made a great speech, and think his decision may encourage more super delegates to get onboard. Dragging the nomination out for months will only harm the entire party.
It's one day at a time! We can do this. :goodvibes

I'll be honest, this has and will hurt Obama. But I think more than anything it just leveled the playing field. Now, I think none of three candidates can easily pass the "who would you rather have a beer with" test. So, maybe this election will actually be about issues this time around. :scared1:

I was never "in love" with Obama, but after seeing the hysterics of peoples' reaction to this - "OMG-Obama has a scary, angry, black, preacher -run for the hills -lock up your women :scared1:" Well, now I want Obama to win even more.

I really think though that it needs to be either an Obama/Hillary ticket or Hillary/Obama ticket for the Democrats to win.

I totally agree with that. It was a tough choice for me, choosing between Clinton and Obama. But now, especially after his speech on race, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want him to be POTUS.

I'm so happy this post exist. It's great to see people who have enough common sense to realize one can be friends with someone and not share their views. After reading some of things I've read on the Obama threads it's amazing, but not surprising how some people are so closed minded.

Really I could care less who they vote for, but please explain to me how any sane person in their right mind could come to the conclusion that Wright and Obama are white folk haters just by listening to sound bytes?

I keep asking the question to those who say he listened to hate for 20 years if they belonged to Trinity, and if they have concrete evidence to these supposedly 20 years of hate filled sermons. They never offer any proof, but they still claim he did it. :confused3

The also never proved their claim that he "lied." They also have yet to prove their "fact" that black people only voted for Obama because he is black.

Of course 99.9% of the people posting this stuff never like Obama to begin with. I know there are some people who did support Obama but these few comments from Wright were a deal breaker for them, but I've yet to meet anyone like this in RL though...
