Hi all, Am I theo nly one that hopes that Obama addresses the issue of his church, spiritual leader?.Now growing up around many people who are Catholic and yet were pro-gay rights, pro -chioce, I do know it's very possible to be a part of a religion that you feel is overall good, and yet reject some tennants....I just hope he will address this.

It's not a huge issue for me, probably because I'm one of those Catholics that believes in choice and gay rights.

I wouldn't mind hearing how he reconciles his personal beliefs with the Pastor in question-but I don't want it to distract him from talking about the really important distinctions between himself and John McCain.

I agree and feel that even if he never addressed it the issue, the only people who wouldn't vote for him because of it are those who wouldn't vote for him if he was in a one candidate race...

I would like an explanation about his former pastor, yes. As far as his denomination, no, that doesn't bother me. I wouldn't even know what denomination that was if it weren't for the news.

Would someone who understands explain the possible motivation for Pelosi's comments? This is the second time she's said this recently. Is she sending a message? To whom? Why?

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is throwing cold water on the idea of a “dream ticket” on the Democratic presidential ballot that includes both Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) and Barack Obama (Ill.).

“Take it from me — that won’t be the ticket,” Pelosi said Thursday at her weekly press conference. Pressed for further explanation by a chorus of reporters shouting, “Why?” Pelosi declined to elaborate.

“Do you want me to go through a lifetime of political gut?” said Pelosi, who grew up in an intensely political family in Baltimore. “I do think we’ll have a dream team — it just won’t be those two names.”

I'd be amenable to an Obama/Dodd ticket, or pick a Southern white, democratic governor or congressman that's an Obama supporter, or, a well known military man with about 30 years of experience... There is a short list of just that type of person out there.

I think Pelosi is right, that ticket will never happen based on what we have seen go on....

And like Fits, I wouldn't mind hearing how he reconciles his personal beliefs with the Pastor as long as it did not take front and center away from the campaigning going on.

It maybe because Pelosi is under pressure from her constituents, like me. Hillary's behavior and the acceptance of it has become the measuring stick by which other politicians will be measured. If dirty politics and touting a GOP candidate over their own party is OK with them, then suddenly I'm questioning whether they are OK with me.

So do Pelosi and Clinton really irritate each other? (I'm surprized Pelosi is saying anything, because most every other influential Democrat seems to be tongue tied.) Because looking at votes, delegates and momentum, Clinton won't be at the top of the ticket. So...is Pelosi really just sending a message to Clinton that based on her pro McCain stance, she's not welcome as VP?

(I saw the clip and Pelosi specifically mentions Clinton and McCain.)

I do think Pelosi is rather ticked off about current tactics, she's said that outright. As a result of the tactics, she seems to indicate this ticket is not possible. What message she is really meaning to send? I have no idea, I'm not in her head.... but she clearly does not like the idea of doing the Republican's dirty work for them.

Thanks! I needed to think about this a bit, but I'm all for the Democratic leadership stepping up at this point. All the wringing of hands, we have to let let the process go until, basically September 2008 is getting old. We'll be so far behind at that point it will be pathetic.

I am subscribing, love the idea of this thread. I am interested in hearing what other Obama supporters are thinking. Meanwhile, I am praying my O'bama St. Patrick's Day t-shirt gets here by Monday...they shipped it today:) !!

Hope you get it soon!

Someone please shut Mark Penn up:

On the Clinton call earlier, Mark Penn said, "We believe that [the Pennsylvania primary result] will show that Hillary is ready to win, and that Sen. Obama really can’t win the general election."
