Man I think it was great how Obama was able to substantiuate that he is really a black man by joining Rev. Wrights church and then throwing his white grandmother under the wheels of the bus in his speech yesterday. That was great. Just another reason to vote for him.:worship:

At first glace, I think a new thread needs to be started on Obama throwing his grandmother under the bus!

Or better yet - a thread on why you are supporting McCain!

People love to repeat those cute little catch phrases don't they......only if they would come in prepared with a real argument, things would be so much more fun!

They give McCain about as much attention as they would a pet rock. :rotfl:

Actually I think they should pay MORE attention to his gaffe from yesterday, and everything else he says and does... the more I do see him, the more he looks washed up and having a senior moment is not a good image of a potential president.

I thought foreign policy was his strong point? If he can't even get that right, what else can he stand on? Flip-flopping over the Bush tax cuts?

They seem to love grannies so much I think they are afraid they would be throwing granpa under the bus if they question McCain .

Is there a way of putting whole threads on ignore?

There isn't, but if you put everyone who posts on them on ignore, it's like NOT having a thread at all :thumbsup2 my list is growing by the day...

The economy of course, he can focus on the economy :thumbsup2

Well stick a fork in MI too. Is Hillary out of options?
Here's the latest suggestion for Hillary from US Rep John Lewis:

Lewis says Obama-Clinton would be 'dream ticket'
" U.S. Representative John Lewis of Georgia says he hopes the two Democratic presidential candidates will join forces in what he says would be the "dream ticket."

The civil rights leader told Atlanta radio station WAOK-AM in an interview Wednesday that he still backs Barack Obama for president, but says he hopes Obama and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will be on the same ticket for the election this fall."

I think that's her only hope in getting back into the White House.

Rep Lewis is a respected leader, and friend of Clinton even though he went on to endorse Obama. It's pretty gutsy of him to even propose Obama as the Pres, even though he might be (I don't think I'm allowed to say the word...so I'll just whisper it quietly) winning. It would be great to end all this mess, and get a ticket so they can start the real work of defeating McCain. I'm thinking Lieberman pass the test yesterday...maybe he'll be the VP.

If there is any criticism to be made about Obama's speech yesterday, it is that he may have over-estimated the intelligence of the American public. It's comments like this that make me realize the complexity of the ideas he laid out in his speech. His speech was eloquent, yes, but complex and ultimately challenging. It contains various strains of cultural theory and history that are not easily understood even by those paying close attention.

With the help of the media, conservatives are going to approach Obama's speech the same way they've approached Wright's sermons...taking one or two phrases out of context and ignoring the fuller context of the whole statement and occasion.

My guess is that people are going to still be studying and quoting this speech years from now.

This is exactly right. You do have to have a certain level of understanding of politics, history and intelligence to hear what it is he is saying, and what it is he is relaying.... Sadly, that isn't the case in some households... I won't make sweeping generalizations though, although I would REALLY like to.

I think Lieberman has to be VP for McCain....

I was hoping Dodd would be the VP for Obama, I like Dodd and he has a lot of foreign policy experience...

Thank you for your post - I have tried to explain these very points but you did so very eloquently and honestly.

Clinton Says Obama Alienates Florida, Michigan Voters

"At a hastily arranged rally in downtown Detroit, Sen. Hillary Clinton accused rival Sen. Barack Obama of alienating the voters in Florida and Michigan by refusing to agree to a do-over of their primaries and threatening the Democrats’ chances in November.

“Sen. Obama speaks passionately on the campaign trail about empowering the American people. Today, I am asking him to match those words with action,” the New York senator and presidential hopeful told the crowd of 250 AFSCME union members. “If the Democrats send the message that we don’t care about your votes, I’m sure John McCain and the Republicans would be happy to have them.”

But she doesn't indicate that her advisor Ickes was on the committee that decided to strip the delegates in the first place!

Top Hillary Supporter Ed Rendell Hit Up George Soros For Money To Fund New Michigan Primary

"Top Hillary supporter and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell privately appealed to billionaire George Soros for cash to help fund a new primary in Michigan -- a request that Soros is declining, a source familiar with their conversation tells Election Central.

A Soros spokesperson confirmed the account.

The private appeal by one of Hillary's most important national supporters to one of the wealthiest men in the country is yet another indication of just how hard the Hillary camp is working behind the scenes to get a Michigan revote-- and how many backstage angles they're working to make it happen.

According to the source, Rendell told Soros that they were looking for around 15 or 16 people to come up with the needed funds. "He said that the total figure they needed was $10 to $12 million," the source says."
