Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign

Well, I just did the calculation. I would save a whopping---get ready for it--$2.76. That piddly sum won't even buy me a latte at the neighborhood coffee house--let alone Starbucks. And since the current price of the gas I buy is $3.61, I can't even buy a gallon of gas with my huge chunk of change. I say thanks but no thanks to HRC's latest pandering and political posturing.

So we reduce the gasoline taxes, which means there is less money to repair the roads, which means more wear and tear on our vehicles/alignment, which means more maintenance costs for us.

Is it surprising at all that Little Miss IDon'tKnowHowToPumpGas doesn't understand this? She doesn't pump her gas, she doesn't maintain a car, she doesn't go to to the grocery store or Target, she has no idea what the average joe pays for and struggles with.

The latest laugh inducer from Miss "Let's belly up to the bar boys and have a shot and a beer":

Clinton Stops at the Pumps

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/04/30/clinton-stops-at-the-pumps/

Miss "I'm really one of you and HE'S an elitist" doesn't know how to pump gas or get coffee from a machine.

Next she'll go to WalMart, buy a pair of socks and be in awe of how the cash register really works. :lmao:

The only saving grace about Hillary is she's a junkyard dog who would have McCain's cajones as trophy hanging over her fireplace (next to her shotgun, of course ;) ) should she be the nominee.

Is her campaign theme song "Leroy Brown?" It fits with the 'Bubbette' persona she's currently masquerading.

Oh yeah, Hillary's a real bad ***. The first bit of opposition to her 1993 healthcare plan and she disappeared. If it was that important to her, what did she do in the ensuing years?

She couldn't stand up to Bush in 2002 and she couldn't stand up to him im 2007 with the Kyle-Lieberman bill.

Btw, has anyone else taken notice she no longer talks about her "35 years of experience"? Gee, why is that? Could it be it really doesn't exist? :lmao:

But that is so not true! How can we be so mean and out of touch? Didn't you read the memo in which it is noted that HRC not only visited a grocery store and Target (to appeal to us elitist upstarts who think we are too good for Walmart), she actually helped to build a Target with her own two hands using the bricklaying tools left to her by dear ole gramps and Dad. And she accomplished this while dodging sniper bullets, generating peace in Northern Ireland, campaigning for human rights in China, scrapping with that vast right conspiracy, and downing two shots and a beer with the boys after completing her stint at ACME Fib Works--the home of political joists and whoppers.

Net gain: Obama 5, Clinton 0*

Obama gets endorsement of Texas DNC member John Patrick, who cites candidate’s record on trade, fighting for working class.

Also expected to pick up three prominent Illinois supers — Mayor Daley, House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie and Cook County Board President Todd Stroger — as the state finishes filling out its delegate slate.

And gets former DNC leader Joe Andrew after a defection from Clinton.

While Clinton is expected to get Connecticut AFL-CIO President John Olsen.

*Superdel Andrew leaves Clinton camp for Obama.

Finally, can we all speak the truth?

Clinton playing by her own set of rules

"Hillary Clinton leads Barack Obama in the popular vote, and this is her path to victory.

She will ultimately win the Democratic nomination by convincing the superdelegates that her popular vote lead makes it legitimate for them to support her. It gives them the cover they need to deny Obama a nomination that he otherwise would have won.

What’s wrong with this picture?

First, Clinton does not lead Obama in the popular vote. It is a fantasy.

Second, the people she most needs to convince that this fantasy is true are the people least likely to believe it.

Let’s first deal with Clinton’s fantasy lead in the popular vote.

“I’m very proud that as of today, I have received more votes by the people who have voted than anyone else,” Clinton said the day after her victory in the April 22 Pennsylvania primary."
"But has she really? No. Not really. Not unless you throw out the existing rules of the Democratic Party and invent a new set of Hillary Rules.

Under Hillary Rules, Clinton counts the popular vote in Michigan, where she was the only major candidate on the ballot. The Democratic Party does not recognize those votes.

Under Hillary Rules, Clinton also counts the popular vote in Florida, where candidates were forbidden to campaign. The Democratic Party does not recognize the results of the Florida primary, either.

Under Hillary Rules, Clinton throws out the “votes by the people who have voted” in the states of Iowa, Nevada, Maine and Washington, because those were caucus states, where popular vote tallies were not officially kept and where, by the way, Obama won three out of the four contests.

Under Hillary Rules, Clinton gets to choose the contests that help her, throw out the contests that do not and declare herself the winner.

Steve Kornacki of The New York Observer did an excellent, detailed story last week on Clinton and the popular vote, going through a number of different scenarios and projections for the contests that remain.

His conclusion: “The point is that under the most basic and probably the fairest criteria — simply counting every state and U.S. possession where there was a legitimate primary or a caucus where popular votes were tallied — Obama will finish the primary season hundreds of thousands of votes ahead of Clinton.”....

I wish other people would do the math too...I was just watching MSNBC and although they admitted that the gas tax holiday was an unsound economic idea...it would cause demand to rise and in the end raise prices and profits for the oil companies...they still maintained how Obama will have a "hard time" explaining to people why they can't save $30 when they need it...all I can do is turn off the TV because out of one side of their mouths they are saying that anyone who knows even a little bit about economics knows this is a bad idea, but people just want to save, literally, a few bucks. Why can't they report on this as Hillary and McCain only caring about getting elected today and not what happens tomorrow and Obama having the "testicular fortitude" to say this is a bad idea???? Hillary claims the media gets on her back...please, they are letting her get away with this one, anyone with common sense should know that this temporary "relief" won't help once September comes and prices of oil skyrocket. This issue really bothers me because it shows how McShame and Hillary are old school, Washington politicans, who are not so much different. Obama would be a refreshing change in Washington.

What does it say about the Clintons now that long time friends are switching sides and moving over to Obama? Voters need to take heart of the fact that when one's closest friends no longer support you, something is amiss.

I agree I think it speaks volumes to voters when they see that close friends of the Clintons cannot offer their support. Even after contraversies such as Wright...people are still leaving the Clinton camp...interesting.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clinton Announces Campaign Motto Change: Experience Needed Only When Necessary

Clinton Land, May 1, 2008 – A central theme of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s lengthy quest for the democratic presidential nomination is that candidates should treat their campaign as if it were a job application and that her 35 years of experience on the national and international political stage make her a ready, willing, and able candidate to tackle, on day 1, the enormous economic, national security, environmental and other problems facing the United States of America.

Before a crowd of diffident unemployed factory workers in the American heartland, at a rally in front of a shuttered factory, closed 12 years ago as a result of trade agreements that she negotiated, except when she did not negotiate them, and that were signed into law by her husband, former president, William Jefferson Clinton, Clinton, with her American flag pin firmly placed in the lapel of the jacket of her trademark aquamarine designer pantsuit assured the waiting throng that although she supported trade agreements until she no longer supported them, she would single-handedly, using the tools her great, great, great, great-grandfathers carried across prairie, build a new factory and provide millions of jobs for those who wanted them. When asked by an Associated Press reporter, what experience she had in factory building, Clinton replied, “actual experience is needed only when necessary.”

When questioned further about this change in motto, Clinton would only note “those 35 years really don’t count. The years, you know, that do count are, you know, the really significant ones. Although I’ve lived and currently reside in mansions and am a millionaire, several times over, it is those significant years of experience that demonstrate how well I know the average working American.

In response to questions about when the new factory would be built, Clinton stated, “the factory will be completed at the same time the Holiday Gas Tax,”—legislation she vows to push through that will save the car-driving public anywhere from a total of $1 to $5 over the peak summer driving season (May 26 thru September 1).

Disheartened by the small savings on gasoline purchasing, the crowd visibly picked up when Clinton announced free beer, shots of whiskey, and pizza in exchange for their votes and endorsements.

“I was a little unsure about her sincerity,” said rally participant, Ohmadarling Clementine, a 38-year-old, white mother of two who works at Walmart and represents a key demographic for Clinton. “But when she said we would get $5 in September and then she offered the free beer and pizza, I knew she really understood my situation since she’s so rich and all and does not have to pump her own gas. I hope other voters who do not see this side of Hillary will get to do so and get some free beer and pizza.”

Here's some of the new goodies I've made for the local campaign

They are so cool!

Thanks!

How is Obama doing in the polls in Puerto Rico??:)
Sadly, Obama's still down. Polls still have him 13 points below Hillary.

Another problem, Hillary has 4 local super delegates pledged, Obama has 1. However, Obama has more Mayors (actually a big thing here) and Senators than Hillary, as well as our Governor. Obama has pledged support from members of 3 of our 4 political parties (PPD, the commonwealth party, which is typically aligned democrat; PNP, the statehood party, which is typically aligned republican; PPR, no status or US party alignment, but rather for local policy changes), with the pro-independence party formally boycotting the campaign.

The irony, there are at least 10 members of the pro-Independence party volunteering in the campaign, and 2 staffers.

Our ace in the hole though. We have a local office, with a budget and press team. Hillary has NOTHING. Not even a staffer.

We're behind, but we're fighting forward.

pr surfer--

There's time. I'm hopeful with all the effort that is being expended that PR will also support Obama in the end! Thanks for all your work!
