Aisling...we connect to Paris thru JFK & i think we have a pretty long layover there Monday June 16th - want to bring Jesse out & we can meet up for a coffee or something & the boys can meet? i'll have the actual flight schedules etc Monday as well & if the layover is long enough (for us to leave "security" etc. & if the timing works for your schedule) that would be great....of course - no obligation to do that & don't change anything for that either...also, i know JFK is much bigger that LGA so if it's just a hassle for ya - no worries

I can understand your fear, I have a friend who is afraid of clowns. Really.

Runs screaming, freaks out, histerically afraid of clowns. I've seen it.

Unless you were ready to face it, I would never force you into that situation.

lets just not say that word again, ok. seriously. or balloons.

That sounds perfect!!! JFK is 10 minutes away from my house, and I know it well, so it'll be no hassle at all!

Hi Judy! Welcome to this fun group! I see you have teen children. We have a few teens in our group, including my son who's 16, and Brenda's (CADNYCHC) son who's 17.

This is going to be my 2nd cruise. Looks like you're a cruise vet, so I'll be glad to hear your words of cruise wisdom!

Thanks for the welcome. It seems like a great group.

My sister got me hooked on DCL. Seems like I live from cruise to cruise....pretty pathetic. We are taking a trip to Hilton Head this summer. We always used to go there till I got obsessed with cruising.

I'm a stay at home mom--even though my kids are older.

Just got home from the hospital on Thursday. I had surgery on Tuesday. I can't do anything for 5 weeks!! I am going to go absolutely crazy. I hope you guys will be around to keep me company.

Judy

Thank you soooo much~YES it is a great cause...my 3 team members lost their mom to Breast Cancer & my Aunt also died from BC - my other great friend from Iowa lost her Grandmother & Mother & has a surviving sister, ....just NOT fair...everyone REALLY does deserve a 'lifetime'....so it's totally something i believe in & can walk 23 miles each day to help find a cure....

:cool1: *****WELCOME Judy & family!!******your kids are just the right age - there are many others on this cruise of the same age~:cool1:

Thanks for the welcome. You sound like you're a busy person. Way to go with the walk for the cure!!:worship:

I'm a SAHM to older kids, too! (16 and 22). This July will be two years since I left my job, and I love every minute of being a "housewife"!:lmao:

And don't worry, Judy, we'll be HAPPY to keep you company here on the thread. Five weeks is a long time...do you have to stay off your feet, or just take it easy??

Hey cool a new person, welcome Judy. Please don't read too far back in this thread, then maybe I can recycle some of my lame jokes. :rotfl:

lets just not say that word again, ok. seriously. or balloons.

Seems I know TWO people with that phobia :wizard:

No problem Nan~

Very nice pictures Brenda. How many were in your class originally?

Welcome Judy!

You totally skipped over the cruise we sailed on! Some of us sailed on the Magic for Christmas 2005 ::yes::

John (DH for our new friend) and I hung out today. I went out with my sister last night to celebrate a birthday (the drummer's wife) and for me to take some live shots of my friend's band. Tomorrow DH and I want to get to the Zoo Mad early~

Ok, I'm really bad with computers, so I don't know how to quote multiple people.

Aisling--just have to relax. I had a hysterectomy due to a large benign growth in my uterus. Caused me to be anemic. I'm not used to sitting still. Even after removing my uterus and a large growth, I still didn't loose any weight--go figure!

Artman--it hurts to laugh. Don't make me pop open my incision. Warn me so I can hold onto my belly before reading!

tiggerwannabe--I really liked the 10 night cruises. I can't remember why we skipped 05 because 07 wasn't a 10 night either. Heck, I can't remember much of anything anymore--who am I kidding! (I'm only 45 but kind of feel like 33ish except when it comes to memory)

Off to finish watching season 2 of The Office.

awesome - it will be great that Jesse & Ryan can meet - they'll feel like long lost friends once we cruise - just like us!!!:goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome. It seems like a great group. I sure think so & i've been fortunate to meet a couple when i was in NYC last Sept!

My sister got me hooked on DCL. Seems like I live from cruise to cruise....pretty pathetic. We are taking a trip to Hilton Head this summer. We always used to go there till I got obsessed with cruising. I'm with you - our vacations were always Hawaii (we're closer to Hawaii than we are to Orlando) but i LOVE Disney & cruising on Disney - have never tried any other cruise line - the only bad thing is that DH won't cruise:(

I'm a stay at home mom--even though my kids are older. I work as the Cust Svc & Logistics Mgr for a fairly large Calif strawberry company. We are an ingredient supplier & process purees, concentrates, whole, diced & sliced IQF. So once we finish we send our products off to other companies who put them in the finished products that you might be familiar with. Dried strawberries in cereals; diced in yogurts, McDonalds parfaits - lots of 'drinks' have our berries - Naked Juice - Odwalla - etc.....

Ahhh - i had surgery 6 wks ago friday - just got released back to the gym & my training walks....get some good books - i'm reading a series by Fern Michaels that are terrific - they are about a 'sisterhood' of women righting some wrongs that the court system didn't do....i've read 7 of them in the last two weeks....

Seems I know TWO people with that phobia :wizard:

just click on the 2rd "icon button in the bottom right hand corner (Quote "icon & paper icon) for each persons quote & then hit post reply - that gives all the 'multi' quotes. to quote just one person - just hit the 1st button labeled quote

cadznychc--did your 6 weeks go by fast? I did buy a few books to read. I think I'll sit outside today and read some more. We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon and would love to go back, but I hate the long flight, and it's so expensive. I like the way they pamper me on the cruise. I think a cruise is the best vacation for moms because we don't have to worry about cleaning and food and entertainment for the rest of the family. We don't have to do a darn thing once we are on board.

Judy

Just looking at your pictures in your signature.....
My ds has been in the marching band his 2 years at high school, and will continue next year. He has played the trumpet since 4th grade. My dd is joining for her senior year. She played the flute in grade school and is taking lessons to get ready for marching band. They are a small group, but a bunch of good kids that have a lot of fun together.

Sorry I can't answer your question about fish extenders though!

Judy

Kara will be a senior this up coming year (crossing toes - finals this week - rofl) and 4th year with marching band - she has been in the band since 6th grade - plays b flat clarinet for maching and bass clarinet (currently) for symphonic, we hadn't heard back from the audtions if she will move to wind ensemble for next year or stay with symphonic - one bass clarinet player from wind graduates this week

Their marching band runs - 260 - 300 members the last 3 years - we haven't heard how many incoming freshmen have joined as of yet - won't know number until next month - when band camp starts

There is a link back a couple of pages of their last year's show

We still haven't heard anything more about this year show, still just that teaser that was posted

Yes - but the only thing i was banned from was lifting & exercising- i go to the gym every day at 4 am - so that was hard; but i was so busy with so many other things that i never got 'bored'...and i still went to work & did everything else - some of the housecleaning DH did more of but he's a big help anyway

Welcome!

ohhhhh wow - haven't heard that yet but don't have the tv on & it hasn't come thru my "breaking news" email yet either

i don't know that there is any set price....but don't go broke for things....on our first cruise we had a big onboard welcome party where we just did big gift bags for each family & each dis'er family contributed one identical item for each bag - the cost there was $1-2

our 2nd cruise was supposed to be something similar but we never got our get together because of a stupid unattended bag that of course needs to be treated as 'suspicious' (& ended up being nothing reall) but we didn't get to board tlll around 5 pm that day....uggghhhhh -

So are we thinking for fish extender something per family or each member of party?

You can add Kara and I to list

Just trying to keep track of the 'budget'

Nice photo of the marching band Marla~ She must go to a large school if they have that many band members....

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hundreds of firefighters are battling a large blaze that broke out on Sunday on a back lot at Universal Studios, site of movie and television production, a spokesman for a neighboring fire department said.

Burbank firefighter David Ortiz said that about 200 firefighters and two helicopters had been deployed to assist the Los Angeles County Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

A spokesman for the L.A. County Fire Department was not immediately available, but Capt. Frank Reynoso told CNN that at least one explosion had been heard at the scene.
