For this year - 9th - 12 th grade - 2200 students in all - and I think 1400 in total are involved in the music department or something like that

:) Good morning,

I just put on the news, and wow that Universal fire is BIG.

About the Fish Extenders, I have to go re-read how that works, like if it's per person or per family, what kinds of gifts, etc. Then I can start picking up gifts now, so that by cruise time, I wouldn't have felt it budget-wise.

Brenda, very very nice photo of you and your sisters! And the reunion photo made me laugh a little, just because of the small group.

I told Jesse about meeting up with you and Ryan at JFK.:thumbsup2

Judy, what are your kids' names? Are they excited about the cruise?

Pretty similar to the public schools out here...DS' school is a small Catholic school with approx 230 students this year...will increase to 250 next year. Its a new school - been on campus 5 yrs & once all construction is complete; will only accept 400 students total (100 each class) but with the economy the way it is & rising tuition fees - our enrollment for next year's freshman class is down 35% :worried:

Going shopping today to pick up whatever stuff Ryan still needs for our trip & whatever 'travel' gadgets we both need

Kara will be a senior this up coming year (crossing toes - finals this week - rofl) and 4th year with marching band - she has been in the band since 6th grade - plays b flat clarinet for maching and bass clarinet (currently) for symphonic, we hadn't heard back from the audtions if she will move to wind ensemble for next year or stay with symphonic - one bass clarinet player from wind graduates this week

Their marching band runs - 260 - 300 members the last 3 years - we haven't heard how many incoming freshmen have joined as of yet - won't know number until next month - when band camp starts

Wow, their band has about 75 members, including the majorettes and flag corp

Oldest to youngest, Jim, Kelly, Brian (husband is Jim also). They do enjoy the cruises. They were tired of being away at Christmas, so that is why we chose New Years.

Hey cadznychc---thanks for the directions. I quoted multiple posts!!!!! Doesn't take much for me.

Judy

OMG I must be a dunce, I was looking for a "polish" clock, you know like polished with something shiney! Duh me!

Ok another Jesse hair update. Someone please tell me I'm not a negligent mother! He's giving me a look that says "yeah, try to get me to a barber, not!"

Judy, what lovely Irish names. I'm not Irish, but I have an affinity for Ireland. I just love the music, the culture, the men, the accent, the storytelling, etc. By the way, congratulations on the multiple posts, no kidding, I've been a Diser for years and only recently found out how to do that!

Hi Artman, where's Claudia? Out shopping I hope! :lmao:

Aisling - Jesse's hair looks great - he's really a handsome guy!!!

Good morning,

Hi Robin!

Today I have a sad task to do. A few weeks ago a cat showed up at my back door. I'm not a cat person, but this little kitty stole my heart. She has a collar on, and is obviously a house cat, but no one on my block has claimed her after I went house to house. I've been letting her in every day when Mel leaves for work (he doesn't like animals in the house), and I've been feeding her. She's so good, keeping my company, very affectionate, very clean. She follows me around as I do my housework, and when I Dis, she sits on the couch next to me. My kids keep telling me to be careful, not to get attached, because they know we can't keep her.

So this morning, there she was outside my door, and I let her in for breakfast. Mel was still home, but I ignored his scowling. But he has a point, because I noticed cat hair here and there, and on my clothes. To his credit, he was trying to be kind, joking that milk costs more than gas, and it's too expensive to feed her. Of course that isn't true, but that was his way of saying she has to go. In my heart, I really don't want a cat, but I already love her. Anyway, after seeing all the cat hair, i decided that I'm going to take her to a shelter today, and hope that a nice family adopts her. She really is a beautiful, well-tempered kitty. I have to do this before I go out and buy her a flea collar, a grooming brush, cat toys, etc. "Cause that's what I'm dying to do. Anyway, I may be sad later this afternoon.:guilty: But it really is for the best.

Other than that, all is well by me.

Wishing you all a good day!

a whopping 32

I figured you had a small graduating class...ours (John and I graduated together) was around 250, It'd be a really sad reunion if only 14 of us showed up.

 Aisling :(

Nan, did you participate in the cruise's fish extenders?

I saw Deb Wills (WDWIG-allears) did. She said she put in little things like keys chains and magnets. I doubt the stuff has to be expensive. You could do like we did for the swap on our first cruise and pick up stuff that represents where you are from!

She is spending most of her free time gardening lately. The Canadian economy is starting to feel the effects of her lack of shopping. :lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

John is "making" me go shopping. I rarely buy new clothes so he is insisting that I need to go and get myself some. I hafta agree with him - after working in a skatepark for two years and not having to dress up my wardrobe really is lacking.

Oh yeah!

I was watching the fire at universal yesterday waiting to see exactly what was affected...today they say the King Kong area and a large area of the city streets was destroyed.

The ghost whisperer site (the old back to the future set) was in that area too...here are a few pics of that area from my last trip out there. The last one shows the type of building their King Kong was set up in...

I saw some footage later on yesterday about the fire - and saw the roof caving in on the one building - suspecting it was the one that King Kong was in

Kara just called during her lunch break - the 'list' went up today and she is bass clarinet (first chair) for wind ensemble next fall - the 'top' concert band in the school

:cool1:

Great news! Congratulations! Will she be swimming, too?

yep - she will be swimming and for 2 teams - year around and high school, the high school season starts mid Nov

she has one meet this summer - not expecting much out of her at that one - she hasn't been in the water much lately

yes did the the FE. It was a big undertaking on our cruise, there were 300+ people, so in fact it did get expensive. We had a leader that coordinated fish teams, that pooled resources and took over a day of delivery. My team was Panama Canal Day and we gave out custom made binoculars with Ship of Thieves on them and the date. Others gave simple gifts like candy and pencils, one a mousepad, my favorite was a cd of cruise music. the one sad thing was that people had their FEs stolen from, mine was for sure. We'd all compare what we got and sometimes you didn't get what others did. Can't very well stop anyone from grabbing from your fish, but I did feel really bad one day, as our pirate FE gift was stolen. we did have to create a cut off date for sign-ups as people needed to know how many to buy, also someone needs to create the list of who is where. we cruised with a great diser, seaulater, linda, and she made us all these very nice mini-navigators, that listed all disers and whatever was dis planned for the day. it was a wonderful resource to have that list to be able to call ones friends. we also had floor captains with whiteboards on theirs doors for changes or annoucements. I was a captain. first day a few upgraded rooms were posted, then a few more notes thru out the week, a vow renewal location change, and a pub crawl revisited. we also had FE gifts prior to the cruise, another favorite was our landyard. we all had ship of thieves lanyards with cool id tags, which are very helpful with so many new friends. ok that is my mouthful posting now so I don't lose it.

p.s. I'd do a FE again, but only with smaller cruise, it was hard work for vacation IMHO.

Please let's keep the FE thing inexpensive.

Also, do we need a FE with so many pockets? Would one with two pockets be ok?
