Hello, I have a 11 year old with peanut/tree nut allergies and in the past we have always done character meals etc etc

well we want to branch out a little and try YUMMY food restaurants this trip
On the agenda
Ohana, Teppenedo (kids fav) 50s Prime Time, Donalds Safari Breakfast...

Any suggestions what we should add on... Kona?
Where have you gone with your nut allergies and were so happy by all your choices??

I'm interested in the answers as I also have a nut allergy! I usually always just make sure to make it really clear about my allergies.

yes we do as well ... just wondering if anyone wanted to share some yummy food finds they have run across ...

INCLUDING desserts

It has been a number of years since we have been to Ohana, but last time the yummy bread pudding dessert was not safe for tree nut allergies. The chefs are good about finding and offering alternatives. The chefs at the Plaza restaurant in MK always give DS so much attention.

I have severe food allergies, including ALL nuts. I cannot eat food that have warnings ("This product has been processed" or "This food may contain traces of" etc) on, due to the severity of my allergies. However, Disney is absolutely brilliant.

I'm 26, and had my first proper meal, outside of my home, at the age of 18, at The Coral Reef, from appetizer to dessert and I even had bread.

I've found so far, the restaurants/Counter service safe for me are (that I've been to) and I've eaten dessert as well:

EPCOT:
- Coral Reef
- Rose and Crown Pub
- San Angel Inn (Mexican pavilion) - however, friends have difficulty with gluten here
- Sunshine Seasons

Animal Kingdom:
- Rainforest Cafe
- Beastly Kiosk

Hollywood Studios:
- ABC Commisary
- Pizza Planet
- Backlot Express
- Studios Catering Co
- Hollywood Scoops

Magic Kingdom:
- Crystal Palace
- Casey's Corner
- Columbia Harbour House
- Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
- Pecos Bill
- Plaza Ice Cream Parlour
- Tortuga Tavern
- The Plaza
- Tony's Town Square Restaurant

Is your Ohana reservation for breakfast? All of the noddles come with peanut sauce now, they have taken away almost all of the other options

DD14 has nut allergies too.

Our favorite places for breakfast are Crystal Palace, Tusker House, and Captain's Grille.

For TS lunch, we love LTT - DD can even have the chocolate cake for dessert!

For CS lunch, we like Pinocchio's, Cosmic Ray's, Electric Umbrella, Liberty Inn, Catalina Eddie's, Rosie's, Pizzafari, & Restaurantasaurus.

For TS dinner, we like Chef Mickey's, Grand Floridian Café, Narcoossee's, Citrico's, Olivia's, Brown Derby, 50's Prime Time, Sci Fi, Boma, & Jiko.

We've also enjoyed the Wishes Dessert Party twice.

We're trying Hoop De Doo for the first time next month.

Helpful post

I always thought the peanut sauce was on the side. Is it in the noodles? May have to cancel

We have done so well at wdw. The plaza was the best of them all. Dd even got to have a Mickey sundae. The HDdr is entirely nut free. Boma wa great about walking the buffet as was 1900 park fare.

Our three kids (two are adult kids now...22 and 19) all have peanut allergies and our 19 year old is also allergic to tree nuts. We have been coming to Disney since our oldest was less than 2 years old. We have dined at A LOT OF DISNEY RESTAURANTS over the years and have never ever had an issue. The only place we have not eaten at for dinner..... is Ohana. Only because of the peanut sauce. Our oldest son can't be in an environment with that much concentration of peanut in one place. Because that is served Family style and everyone in that restaurant has that on the table...not a good place for him to be. I always note their allergies when making ADR's and we always talk the chef at each place. I feel very comfortable when dining at Disney. :)

You can get it served on the side or without. Our issue with this restaurant is that its served to almost everyone. Since there is only one sauce now, it means 80-90% of people have it on their table. My allergy isn't just if I eat peanuts, its cross contamination as well. If someone eats peanuts and breathes on me, or they touch them and then we touch the same door handle, ill break out in hives. My allergy never used to be that bad. We learned this with my sister ate peanut M and M's and then we used the same computer hours apart. Once she stopped eating them I didn't get the rash anymore.

For us, this is a restaurant to avoid for dinner. If consuming peanuts is the only issue, than it might be okay for your family.

I don't have an allergy to egg but I don't eat them. I loved Ohana, the breakfast was great! Mickey Waffes, sausages, bacon. There is a lot of food, even if it isn't a buffet. I loved that the food was brought to the table. You can ask for more too.

We were really surprised when the restaurant made this change. I have no issue with them offering peanut sauce. But making it the only choice is strange. Peanut allergy is one of the most prevelant allergys.

The best restaurant we found to deal with my son's allergies (nuts and shellfish) was Yak and Yeti. They were attentive, the chef came and talked to him personally, and they did a fantastic job.

1900 PF was AWESOME, my daughter got a tower sundae for dessert, brownies, ice cream, strawberries, bananas...sadly I have read that Chef TJ now does breakfast so we won't see him this time around.

We have done teppan edo w/o a problem, japanese cusine typically doesn't have peanuts/peanut oil. I don't think there was anything she couldn't have?

The chef at chef mickey's was really nice, he was giving my daughter things that were not even on the buffet.

We did the Captain's Grille, that chef was awesome too, he kept coming to check on us, he was also from Jersey so we had a bit to talk about haha. And the food was really good, I think this is a little hidden gem.

Coral Reef, The Wave, Ohana's (breakfast), Tusker House (breakfast), San Angel Inn, Cape May Cafe (breakfast), Crystal Palace )breakfast) all good.

Whispering Canyon Cafe chef was also very nice and accomodating.

Wasn't too keen on Mama Melrose, chef never came out and spoke to us.

We did le Cellier, and the chef told us she could have anything but the banana chips served with the sundae, and when we got the sundae it had the banana chips on the side so we had to send it back. Just always double check when things come out.

We are trying Beirgarten in 2 weeks (read they were very accomodating) and Rose and Crown.

I heard on here that ALL the desserts at Be Our Guest are nut free!!! So We need to get there bc those look like some pretty sweet deserts. And on the Disney website they list the ingredients and peanuts/tree nuts are not listed.

My grand daughter is 11 and tries to eat gluten-free. On our last trip I noted this on all our reservations and it was amazing. We ate at Cinderella's castle, Chef Mickey, Coral Reef, Hoop De Doo Revue, Ohana & Hollywood & Vine. The chef came out and discussed what he could serve her at each restaurant. They had special rolls and she loved all the selections. Disney was terrific and if you tell them at the quick serve restaurants - they even had special rolls for burgers ...... Disney was amazing!!;)

Where have you gone with your nut allergies and were so happy by all your choices??

Like others have said I would skip Ohana. They can make a safe meal there but with the peanut sauce on the noodles and served with the meals the possibility of cross contamination all around is just not worth it. Kona offers a number of nut dishes including the bread served with every meal. We've skipped it but I'm sure they can do something. At 50's the smore's dessert is nut safe. At Donald's none of the baked goods are OK as usual BUT they have nut safe donuts!!!!!! Be Our Guest is one of the few places with nut safe baked goods so that's worth a wait for lunch. If you are looking for another TS in the magic kingdom area Liberty Tree Tavern is great, Tony's is OK but many allergy safe options, Whispering Canyon at WL is fun for kids and has lots of allergy safe options. I was able to have corn bread there which is nice when most baked stuff is off limits.
