Nurse Tammy's "Waiting for ROFR" Support Group - The Sequel

Just checked my email & had a message RE: DVC contract XXX - your timeshare purchase. Got all excited, but it was just something from the escrow company letting us know they set up an account for us. :sad2: I knew it was too soon to hear anything, but my heart skipped a little beat anyway. I'll continue to wait patiently. Well, maybe not patiently but I will continue to wait. :rolleyes1

This time it was DS7 that had a game. My prayers were answered after three innings unfortunately tonite. The field they use is behind the lax field, over the river and thru the woods. It's by far the worst location and fields our league has for any age group. When it rains the fields are like sponges and it's a pain getting out.

Oh well...came home early and lost in two games of Mario baseball! At least I was dry...:rotfl:

I feel for ya. At least they call the game in circumstances like that. Lax isn't so lucky. And we will spend our last game tomorrow night getting wet!!!

Nothing new here today. Got a lot of homework done. Finally got caught up.

I did find $159 airfare on Airtran tonite for a long weekend trip in December. Just not sure if I will bite though. That is just over $300 and I haven't added room cost yet. I seriously doubt I would have any luck at all at getting a room on points. This week is the 7 month mark. Still thinkin......

Gonna hit it. I got behind on sleep trying to catch up on school. Night all!

Hello all! Just thought I'd post that it took 8 days from the email notifying me that my OKW contract closed until MS had me in the system. I started calling MS a few days ago and hit the jackpot today.

I was able to get a studio at SSR for the third week in July. It was such a thrill to finally make a reservation.

Signing onto the DVC website took 4 phone calls to straighten out, but on the bright side, it only took one day!

Of course, I'm still waiting to hear that closing papers from the seller have gotten to the closing agency, so I am passing the time working on trying to find my next contract.

But my head is spinning! I'm trying to figure the next several years of use patterns for three families, to figure out whether a 200-point contract with no current points would work better or worse than a 150-point contract with all current points, while taking into account the difference between use years and calendar years and being mindful of banking windows. Trying to chart all this out to see how many points we would use for the every other year GV reunions, and the intervening years when just one of the two boys and their family will go, and adding in our shorter trips each year, with one grandkid at a time. I'm going through page after page of a legal pad, and keep finding where I got confused back a few columns, which changes all the columns from there on! It's going to take awhile to get accustomed to thinking in points and use years, rather than money and calendar years, but I guess I'll get there sooner or later. If I do, it will prove that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.

I just did what the boss told me we were doing!  you'd need to talk with her!

I’ve been a longtime reader of this thread and its predecessor. :surfweb: I recently closed on a contract and reading your posts was probably the only thing that kept me from going crazy during the long ROFR and estoppel periods. :flower3:

Now, I want to join in the fun too and I have a question for those of you that made it through. I’m assuming that DVC will be sending out some materials (information, membership cards, etc). What materials should I be expecting to receive directly from DVC? How long did you wait for them? Does it all arrive at once or trickle in over time? :coffee:

Good morning all!! Congrats CLombardi!! Whoo hooo!!!! I too......never mind. ;)

Well, last game today. Kinda makes me sad but on the other hand....it will be nice to have family dinners again. No more racing around to make the games. It also means only 2 weeks left of school! Man, that went fast!
It is supposed to lacrosse most of the day here so this season will probably go out the same way we spent most of it!! Wet!!!

Welcome aboard, Dumbo Fan!! I have heard some talk of a blue box. I have no idea what is in it but.....someday I too will have a blue box!!;)

Have a great day guys!!!

Welcome! I am not sure what you get because I did an add on so fast I cant tell what I got from resale or my disney add on. But you will get your cards and maybe a planner? Those that have gone through this recently can probably help you more. and CONGRATS!

As for deluxe dining we are getting ready to get STUFFED. In 3 days we are going to Boma 2X, La Cellier, Coral Reef, Rose and Crown, Hoop de doo, Yatchmans Steakhouse. Somebody call 911!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Good Morning Sunshines! :goodvibes

Dumbo Fan, Congrats and welcome. I got ( quickly ) a planner from Disney, but didn't get my member cards. So, when I was there last week, I called my guide and he had my member cards delivered to my room.

Kris, I still can't believe we have all those reservations. I think I'm going to be totally fooded out. I put a thread on the Dining Board, did you see it?

I got a call from Nancy that my paperowrk/and check were in her office. Now we wait.

Found you guys!
I wanted to state that it took us 8 days to be in the system as well. We closed last monday and we were in yesterday!

I rented all of the 2006 points cheap and now have everything booked.

Grandbuddy you are just a glutton for punishment  But, you are one fantastic Dad & Granddad to be doing all this for your peeps. Cheers to you! :drinking1 :cheer2:

Since I'm a newbie I'm not sure how everything works. On the trash & towel service, I understand you get it on the 4th day. When you check in do they give you enough towels to last 4 days or do they just give you a few & then you're basically do the resort's laundry for them? What do you do with your trash if it's full before the 4th day? Not that I anticipate that would happen because I don't plan on doing much cooking except for breakfast & reheating leftovers. ;) Thanks all. :worship:

I received the planner too, but still don't have my member cards. I hope they get here before June 14. We leave for WDW that day.

I called member services and they told me who my guide is. Same guide we toured with. Will wait and see if or when he calls us.

Operating on the premise that this is your "second home," housekeeping (mousekeeping) services are more limited than if you are paying CRO prices for a resort hotel experience. You receive enough towels for the capacity of your room; and it is assumed that you will use them when you are clean, and can reuse them for the three days before that 4th day trash and towel service. Most resorts give you the option to reuse your towels, since "green" became so popular; and most of us are accustomed to reusing our towels at home. If you are not so accustomed, extra towel packages are available for a fee; or you can use the W&D, if you have a 1BR or larger. (Paying for the extra towel sets would be preferable to taking your towels to coin-operated machines, if you are in a studio.)

If you generate too much trash to make it to the 4th day, there are dumpsters, where you can deposit your bags - just as there would be if you owned a vacation condominium in a nice resort, anywhere. I've always immediately removed pizza boxes and food-related garbage from any hotel room I've stayed in, so this is not a biggie for me.

Most vacation condominiums (including non-Disney timeshares) provide no housekeeping services, other than between guests, so you would not actually be doing the resort's laundry for them, were you to wash a load of towels...or even the sheets, should you so choose.

I'm excited to be an "owner," even if just for a short time (or times) each year. I think you will be, too. Just takes awhile to get past the "hotel" concept. If you really, really need daily housekeeping, it is available for additional fees. Charges are based on the size of the unit, and it is quite expensive - but not as expensive as paying rack (hotel) rates for the studio or villa you are occupying.

I took towels from the big container at the pool. ;)

Then I returned them to the towel return.

In our 3 nite trip we didn't generate enough garbage to take it out.

A little birdie told me that a certain sister has put an offer on an add on contract today.
