Numbness in lips and nose

I had facial tingling and eye twitching for years. I always ignored it. I had a brain tumor pressing on my trigeminal nerve. Don't ignore is my advice.

One day in 2008 I woke up and the right side of my face was pins and needles. I was diagnosed with MS.

You need to see a doctor.

That's exactly what happened to me in 2011.

I also had numbness in my right food and hand. I'd have to go back and look but I believe the OP indicated that she had it in her hand as well.

Stress is one of the main triggers for MS relapses. MS isn't a death sentence, but it should be treated and waiting doesn't help.

I agree wholeheartedly with seeing a doctor.

I had a similar experience and the eye twitching just about made me crazy, but did nothing about it until one morning i woke up and wasnt blinking my eye and my smile was off and i was drooling on myself.

That scared the crap out of me and off to the dr i went and it was bells palsy. With quick treatment it went away quickly and i had no long term effects from it.

Go see a dr.

Please let us know what your dr. says.

I've had tingling on my lips where my part of my lips would swell. Then it would just go away in an hour or two and wouldn't happen again for months or sometimes years. I think mine just might be an allergic reaction to something. Not sure what because I've eaten different things right before it happens.

I haven't had it happen for a few years now, so I guess I will never know.

Go to the ER.

I had this happen and it was either a migraine aura or Mini stroke (Tia). Not the place to get a diagnosis but there are a lot of people replying with serious issues. You will probably have a lot of bloodwork and scans/tests to rule things out and figure out what's going on.

Knowing the info below helped me get my husband to the ER within 1/2 hour of his stroke symptoms. He is only 54 years old, and was told that strokes in younger people is becoming more common. (His symptoms were half of his face drooping, couldn't smile, slurred speech--and it came on suddenly in the middle of us having a funny conversation!)

SPOT A STROKE F.A.S.T.
F.A.S.T. is an easy way to remember the sudden signs and symptoms of a stroke. When you can spot the signs, you'll know quickly that you need to call 9-1-1 for help. This is important because the sooner a stroke victim gets to the hospital, the sooner they'll get treatment. And that can make a remarkable difference in their recovery.

F.A.S.T. is:
Face Drooping Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile.

Arm Weakness Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

Speech Difficulty Is speech slurred, are they unable to speak, or are they hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, like "the sky is blue." Is the sentence repeated correctly?

Time to call 911 If the person shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 9-1-1 and get them to the hospital immediately.

I had some weird tingling and numbness on the left side of my face over the summer. I did not have any dropping and my arms raised evenly and all that, but I ended up going to the ER just because I couldn't figure out what was going on.

Turns out i was dehydrated and having an anxiety attack. Both easy fixes. I hope it turns out to be something simple for you as well :)

(That being said, I am glad I went and had it checked out because you never know)

Glad you are seeing the MD. Could be a TIA ("mini stroke") or any of the number of other things folks here have posted. Best to get it checked out.

OP, I hope you check back in and let us know how things are going. :grouphug:

I went to the Dr and everything looks good. He believes it is anxiety, which is kind of what I thought too, but I wanted to make sure it was nothing more. I asked to be put on Wellbutrin because it helped me years ago when I was going through a rough time. So he did that. I have not had the problem in two days so that's good.

Thank you all for your help. I see that some people think it's crazy to come here and ask medical problems but I do not. I have read about many things here that I never would have known about unless it happened to me, and it might help me sometime down the road. You never know. I dont see the harm in it.

Thanks again! :)

(Note to self: if I ever think I need medical advice, don't seek a doctor's opinion until AFTER checking with the folks at the dis boards.)

Glad to hear this turned out okay for you and meds might help in the future. However, next time I would recommend contacting a professional (and not waiting 2 days after symptoms appear) for advise rather than reaching out to an internet group.

It would be tragic if next time your symptoms were caused by something much more serious.

Glad to hear you were able to get some help from your doctor. Isn't it amazing how stress can cause so many physical symptoms? It is because of that that I often second guess myself before going to the doctor too. Take care.
