i was using my phoenix macro lens, i think that is the 1:2 ratio and i should have but didn't use my tripod ( lazy lazy lazy)thanks....well i have tried a few times but they are to expensive to kill at the rate i didJann

seriously maybe could you get rid of the trees in number 2? i think there aren't quite enough of them to really add much but enough to kind of distract from the pole, sky, and mts. i like it. it's kind of like cold and lonely desolation which isn't a bad thing and i like the grayish cast to the snow cause it adds to that monochromatic type color palette...but then i like odd cacti so who am i to say
Thanks for the comments. I'll have to go earlier next weekend and take that second photo again from a different angle and with better light. Or change the light settings. I've got to do something about the graininess, too. In fact, the more I look at the photo, the less happy I am with it.
