Ok - so now I'm confused. . .

We've been going to Disney the last couple years the end of April - first week of May. LOVE IT! Great weather (usually, sometimes too hot) and crowds are perfect - no waits. But now I hear they are kicking off the 50th celebration on May 5th. Should we change our dates???

It important to us to have lower crowds and good weather especially on this trip because of our toddler and his special needs, its his first trip.

If we were to change it would be to perhaps the thrid week of April. Of course, then we "chance" spring break crowds. But this year seems to be different a little because of Easter.

See my confusion . . . anyone with any thoughts? Just not sure what to make of the whole 50th Celebraton thing and crowds.

Any thoughts would be great!! And very much appreciated!!!

I don't know what they have planned for the 50th anniversary but I don't think it will cause a rush to WDW in early May. They may have some new shows, you'll kick yourself if you go in late April and miss them. They usually have a media event, but that isn't too many people. I was there during the media week in December 2001 for Walt's 100th birthday and it wasn't crowded at all. I was there April 21 to 25 this year and it was pretty crowded because it was New England's school break. I would stick with early May.

I think you'll be fine. Celebration or not, early May just isn't a good time to travel for many people(keeping the crowds down).:earsboy:

I agree with the others. I think you should keep your dates and enjoy the special celebration. Most people cannot travel in May due to having children in school.
