my son was playing angry birds on my phone, he gave it back to me when he was done and said:
mommy no sound is coming out.
well i checked everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all my setting are on, the keyboard settings, the ringer, everything you can think of is on.
i shut it off waited and put it back on.........STILL NOTHING
i restored it to the default settings STILL NOTHING

i don't know what else to do.
i def. know the mute button is not on MUTE.....

this is so frustrating, please can anyone suggest anything else?

Do you have stuff left open? This happened to me and an Apple employee took it, double clicked the home button and a whoooole bunch of apps appeared on the bottom of the screen. They were all like, left open because I'd just hit the home button when I was done or wanted to switch.

If you do that and find a bunch of icons, press and hold one until they all start jiggling, and a red square with a minus will appear on the top left corners. Tap that to close them. That fixed it for me, apparently when too many things are left 'open' (even if you can't see them and aren't using them), they override each other or whatever and the sound goes away.

Now I regularly check and close extraneous stuff I'm not using.

thank you soooooooooo much for that tip, apparently my angry birds was still open and my messages and something else, but i did what you said and NOPE still no sound the only thing that is working is the vibrate sound

This happened to me before...I had gotten my phone wet out in the rain. I was freaking out, but really it just fixed itself :confused3. Sorry I'm no help. Good luck!

thanks anyway...
i might try to take the battery off and put it back on and i might reboot my router, not that that is the problem but you never know, other wise, i'll have to go to AT&T tomorrow :confused3

Have you done a hard reset? Hold the home key & power key until the phone shuts down & restarts?

Good luck!

Heh, yeah when the Apple employee did it I was like 'what the?!?!' Who knew?

Sorry it didn't fix it. I thought it would because that was basically the exact same thing, I was playing Angry Birds and Plants n Zombies randomly and suddenly, no sound. There's an Apple store near me so I just went in the next day and the guy was like 'oh, do you have a bunch of stuff open?' And I was like 'say what?'

I'm trying to remember if he did anything else before the sound came back. Maybe did that and then turned it off and then back on? I know it was fixed then in the store so it wasn't sync'ed but couldn't hurt?

You arent by chance an Alabama Fan are you?

I had no sound with the ipod feature before and the apple rep had me do a restore network settings and that fixed it. It is under settings, then general, then reset, then reset network settings. Then you have to restart. Good luck.

yep did that to, i just don't get it :(

Since the problem started while playing Angry Birds I would delete the app. It's free so you can re-DL it. Try to delete Angry Birds then restart your phone and see if the sound comes back. Then go back to the app store and get Angry Birds again. This is just what I would do. I am a NEW IPhone owner myself.

Happened to my boss on his iPhone once. He had a little bit of debris in the hole that you plug your headphones into and all he did was blow it out and his speakers worked again.

OK, then. My DD13 wrote this out for you.

Go onto your itunes account that you normally sync to.
Plug your phone into the computer.
Click on your iphone screen then you will see all your info.
Click restore and press ok.
This will take a while DO NOT unplug while restoring.
Once finished press back-up to get all your data on your phone like contacts and music, etc.
Let that back up and you should have sound.

The same thing happened to me so the apple guy told me what to do :)
There is a lot of iphone help on youtube, fyi.
