November/December 2016 discount code watch

Thanks for posting this info. I'm traveling that week as well to POR. It's disappointing, but I'd rather know now than keeping my hopes up. It's sort of what I figured...they have no reason to give an incentive if people are already willing to pay full price.

Me too. I sort of wish I would have just stuck with my typical August trip...but of course I've never seen the holiday decorations, so I suppose that is a good reason to travel this November.

I wanted to go this week for the same reason to catch the decor but miss F&W and some of the other "busy times" .... so I thought lol! Just pray for the best. Staying at CSR and tried to look see if room were avail. the week I am going and I was not able to book any so I assume that means it is sold not....another not so good sign....lol

One upside about CSR is that it is the major convention hotel, and convention goers do not tend to spend the same amount of time in the parks as people on vacation. So maybe there are just a couple of big conventions, and the impact on park attendance won't be so ginormous.

That's my hotel! I love Coronado! I'll be there, too!

The only downside of course being drunk 40 something's at the hotel bar celebrating their one week of freedom away from the family, partying like they are back on Spring Break, circa 1996.

Taking over/under bets on how many pages the thread gets before we hear about discounts. Do I hear 50? :teeth:

Per my travel agent when I expressed concerns about there being no available rooms for POR the week of 6 to 13 NOV and whether there could be some released when/if new discount dates were announced:

"They will not be making additional rooms available so if there are no rooms at full price, it's almost certain there won't be discounted rooms."

I've been working with an agent as well -- there are apparently several large conventions going on in mid November, and lots of places are booked solid. I don't see much, if anything in the way of discounts being offered. I've had a PIN code for a couple of months, and there's been almost nothing except Values left. Even searching without the PIN code, pickings are slim.

I'm thinking of switching my resort to a value since I doubt discounts are coming. Never stayed at a value, but really aren't in the rooms long enough to care. Can't convince my daughter to let me switch the reservation to mid May either.....so I think I'm waving white flag.

I just upgraded from a Value to a Moderate since I found that TA that quoted me the awesome deal. I stayed at Pop once and swore I wouldn't do a Value again, though to be fair, I should give the All-Star resorts a chance sometime. Pop was just way too chaotic for me. I theorized that it's probably usually the resort of choice for larger families, and that larger families often seem more chaotic and have less parental control, to me. (YMMV - I'm sure there are exceptions.) It was just crazy chaotic when we were there, and that was during a low period. The food court was a madhouse.

Well, we've only stayed at moderate or deluxe only because of group size. When my kids were smaller (many years ago), we always stayed at POR because it was cheapest to fit 5 people. Then when it's just me and my hubby, we stay at WL because he grew up staying at deluxe resorts with his family, but he usually pays so I ain't complaining. This time is me, DH, DD, and her friend (both teenagers) and we have a lot of sit downs planned so I'm thinking the $500 I'd save to switch could go towards food.

Have a great weekend everyone!!! No one even think about discounts coming out for the entire weekend. Just go out and enjoy because they aren't coming any time soon. Disney might bring a discount on Sept 6th (After Labor day holiday) and I am pretty sure those of us in November are going to get skipped right by. Sucks when your dates are right between all the discounts. I guess the kids get less school clothes lol.

Well I just pulled the trigger and switched to All Star Movies preferred room. Requested Dalmatian area since my daughter used to be obsessed with them when she was younger. I can stop worrying about discounts now......or will I????

I got paranoid and pulled the trigger on ours Tuesday and booked a standard at All Star Music. So glad I did! There aren't any standard rooms at any Values for my dates anymore!

I'm REALLY hoping that good things come to those who wait. We've been waiting for a long while, so, it better be REALLY good!

Does anyone know if I try a travel agent and they book through Disney can they transfer the money I have already paid to there reservation or do I have to wait for the refund from Disney and then turn around and give it to the TA. Can anyone recommend a TA? I would love to stay in a deluxe for the same price I am paying or get some sort of a discount at all. Thanks

I hope that Disney appreciates my kids having to skip breakfast between now and November as a result of no discount being offered! Mouse or bust. Seriously though, January is looking so much better now. The only regret that I have if we switch is that it's not typically water park weather and we were building in a day for that in November.

That being said, all of the talk about conventions has me wondering whether it's going to be an issue for the resorts but not so much for the parks.

Yes, the travel agent will need to have the reservation transferred to them and they take over from there. I will PM you the TA I've used for the last 8 years.
FYI, I had my TA quote me a price for a room only discount on a deluxe over what we are presently paying for POR and the difference, with the discount, was still more than $2,000.

That was my unenlightened theory :D
