November Check In 2010

You may have already mentioned it but refresh my memory. Where are you planning your dining for DD's birthday? So much fun to have a birthday in the park! She will feel just like a little princess!
If we were closer we would drive too but Texas is just so far away that we would already be pooped before we got there. Even worse than that is driving with my DH! He is no fun to drive with! Think one of the seven dwarves and I am not talking about Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Doc, Dopey or Happy!
My disney dreams have not started up yet.... unless you count all the daydreaming I do everyday!

You may want to check out some of the Garden Walk offerings too! http://www.anaheimgardenwalk.com/dining/

We're taking her to Goofy's kitchen for breakfast, before the park opens so we don't miss any of the fun stuff!! The park doesnt open until 10am that day (at least historically it doesn't, lol)

I really, really want to go to the 300 Bowling place on Monday night (Tuesday is our free day). It looks sooooo nice in there!!

Until a few days ago, I belonged in the September thread, we have (still) reservations for next week. Sadly, something completly outside of our control happenned and we will have to push our trip to November :sad1: I just said good-bye to the folks in the Sept forum...
Anyway, I read some of the previous post, I wasn't planning by far to be on Holiday Time but it seems we might. We have 2 dates: Nov 6-13th, or Nov 13th-20th. The first days we'll be at San Diego, so we'll actually arrive at Anaheim on Wednesday, either the 10th or the 17th.. I'm looking at better airfares on the first week, but I think I'll be going in a busy time (ironically, we were supposed to arrive on Sept 17th, without planning it we were arriving at Halloween Time, which we didn't thought back in February when we did all our plans). So should I change our plans to arrive on the 13th?
What say you?popcorn::

Goofy's will be good! We haven't been there in a while but have enjoyed it in the past. Good idea not wasting any of that premium park time! :thumbsup2
My DD surprised me this year and wanted to go see the Princesses at Ariel's so it looks like that will be our character meal of the trip. Last year she couldn't have cared less! You never know what they will think from year to year!

I thought we were the only ones who ever thought it would be fun to go bowling on vacation! That is one very cool looking bowling alley! We live in a little podunk town that doesn't even have a bowling alley so my son actually thinks it is a real treat when we get to go. It will be another good excuse to lure him over to Garden Walk! Sneak in another of those restaurants!
And don't forget the movie theaters! We love to watch one of the new movies when they come out while we are at DL. Makes the movie extra memorable. This year "Tangled" will open on Nov. 24 so I already have plans for us to see that.

Ooops! Didn't mean to miss you! Must have been posting at the same time! So sorry that you had to postpone your trip. BUT at least you are still getting to go AND November is a great time to be in the land of Disney too! The week of Nov 6-13 includes Veteran's Day on the 11th and the holiday kickoff on the 12th so you have to keep in mind that the weekend will be busy. Nov 13-20 will start out busy but may lighten up some after the weekend. So you see it's kind of a toss up! The second week will have more holiday offerings. If you have never been during the holiday season it is a wonderful time to go. If it were me I'd probably go for the second option to avoid the additional folks that might be there taking a long Veteran's Day weekend.

Not to worry!! Yes, I'm thinking the same... our last trip was to WDW in December and we :lovestruc all the Xmas decorations, shows, songs all day in the park, it was great!! I have to call tomorrow or the day after that to change my package, hope that the prices won't change as well!!
Thank you so much!

So we changed our plans a little, but not to much. We are now going to be at the Villas from Nov. 6th-15th, actually we are on a waitlist for the 6th & 8th but I am hoping they will come through and curious too if they will this late in the game, if not then we will give up the 7th and do a few days at the Pier or Disneyland Hotel before moving to the Villas for the other 6 nights.

ACDSNY now you may be moving into our 2 bedroom unit the day we leave on the (15th) - is there anything you would like us to leave you, I always bring extras. ;) LOL

Official is always good! If you don't mind me asking... where is the condo you will be staying in? After our trip to WDW we were spoiled by staying in a wonderful house. I would love to find one near DL or even a condo but they seem to be harder to find on the west coast.
You have a wonderful list of things to do! I think the majority of the ones in the park have been on my list at one time or the other. Good luck knocking some of them off your list!
Hope your dad gets to make it too.

There are lots of rentals to be found here and here. Search Orange County/Anaheim. The condo we rented is actually right across Walnut Blvd from the DLH. Its description can be viewed here.

Missed watching it but I am glad you saw it so you have a new place to try. We won't have a car so 2 miles is a bit far for us but I have noticed several places at the Garden Walk that sound really good! We always go to Bubba Gump. This time I thought we might try some of the others if the guys are agreeable to walking over there. Guess it depends on how tired we are. I picked up a $25 gift certificate for the Fire & Ice Grill and I'd also like to try the Cheesecake Factory and PF Chang. Don't think I can talk them into going over there that many times but after all the walking we did at WDW last year it doesn't seem like anything is going to seem like that much walking!
I Google mapped it and it is 2.5 miles from Hojo's so we're not likely to walk it unless we eat so much that we need to walk it off afterwards. Checked the bus schedule but looks like a cab will work better and should be less than $10.

Last year was a surprise trip for DS's 13th birthday and, before we let him in on the surprise, he'd said that he wanted to have his birthday dinner at California Pizza Kitchen because good things always happened when he did. We ended up going to CPK at the Gardenwalk on our arrival day even though it was the day before his birthday, figuring it was certainly appropriate. We also ate at The Cheesecake Factory one night after a 9pm park closing then walked like zombies back to Hojo's to crash for the night.

Goofy's will be good! We haven't been there in a while but have enjoyed it in the past. Good idea not wasting any of that premium park time! :thumbsup2

I was really hoping for Tangled to start showing when we were there, but we'll just have to see it when we get back. It'll be a nice reminder of our time in Disneyland :)

There are so many places I want to go to while we are down there but if we ate out every day we'd have to cut San Fran out of our trip :scared1:. I currently have $900 budgeted for food for 3 adults and 1 child, that includes Goofy's Kitchen. I think it will be enough, we plan on getting groceries when we get there to curb costs. I can't believe I'm planning to spend $900 on food!!! It seems outrageous to me but I really need a dole whip, some peppermint chocolate treats, churros, tigger tails and the list goes on and on and on and on :woohoo:

How old is your DD? Mine changes her mind a lot too, from Fairies to Princesses I can't keep up. It'll be really nice to go to Ariel's though, the reviews about the food make me want to go too!!

Another November DISers!! Welcome to the party  My honest opinion on your dates would be the 6-13th (But Im bias cause thats when we are going, :thumbsup2) because of the lower crowds just prior to the holiday season opening, and then you would still have 2 full days of the Full holiday stuff (most of the holiday stuff is up that week anyways). Check out the christmas thread for more info on all the fun holiday stuff, there is sooooooo much information!!

Yeah!! I saw the update for pirates and BB for November 4, they are off the list:cool1:
Becasue we are traveling with DS (2 3/4) I think we'll book AR's for the Plaza for breakfast on Wednesday(early entry) and our first day in the park. Thursday (Thanksgiving day) I'll have pre-ordered WoC picnics.:cheer2:

Question for those with young ones. Because my little monkey doesn't have a ticket, he can't get fastpasses; the picnics are aged for 3 and up. Will the CM's let him into WoC along with the rest of us? He won't be 3 till January but he's as tall as the average 4 year old.

Well then you do have some sort of idea of how pretty the park will be. Plus you do get the added little extras like the Christmas parade, special seasonal yummy treats, carolers, and even SNOW!

Got you updated! Hope the dates come through on the wait list. Guess it won't be too bad to have to stay in one of those Disney rooms if the villas don't become available.

There are lots of rentals to be found here and here. Search Orange County/Anaheim. The condo we rented is actually right across Walnut Blvd from the DLH. Its description can be viewed here.
Very nice. Unfortunately, the bunks wouldn't work too well for us. Have you stayed there before? I guess 2 things that make me nervous about a rental in the DL area would be how far the actual walk would be and the neighborhood. I don't think I have ever ran across an actual review of anything here on the DIS but hotels. :confused3 I looked at your links. I think for now we will stick with the Desert Inn since we won't have anyone in tow with us this year. However, going to keep some of the places book marked for the next time we bring company along with us.

I Google mapped it and it is 2.5 miles from Hojo's so we're not likely to walk it unless we eat so much that we need to walk it off afterwards. Checked the bus schedule but looks like a cab will work better and should be less than $10.

Whooo! That's a pretty good walk after a day in the park. I'm with you! I think a taxi would do the trick!
So how was the food at California Pizza Kitchen and The Cheesecake Factory. Not likely to do pizza because we already order in pizza A LOT but it's still always good to hear some thoughts!

We are coming for one last trip before our AP's expire on the 5th and 6th. :wizard:
Sounds like a good plan! Let me know where will you be staying and I will add it to he list.

Pirates and BB are not longer on the refurb list for November 4th! :yay:
This is certainly fantastic news!

I think Tangled looks like it will be very cute so it will be good even if you have to watch it after your trip.
I don't think $900 for food is all that insane. It's probably about right if you want to be able to eat what you want when you want. We are always on diets when we are at home. Disneyland is my one chance to throw the diet out the window and enjoy some special treats. Vacations in my book are meant to be indulgent! Funny though.... like you said I start out with all these places in my mind but when we are actually there I don't end up having as much as I thought I would. 2 big meals a day and I am so stuffed I don't usually have room for the extra goodies.
I really enjoy ordering in groceries. First off it saves a bundle on water! Also, I get mainly breakfast items, coffee supplies, paper supplies and snacks. I also have started ordering small bottles of shampoo, condition, and any other items I can so I don't have to bring them with me. I'm okay going with an inexpensive brand for a couple of weeks. If I don't use it all I can just leave it behind. I need every bit of room I can possibly save in my suitcase!
My DD is 10. We watch Disney movies all the time but she has never been especially partial to any one particular character. She loves them all! Princess Aurora is her favorite princess and Silvermist is her favorite fairy. We've been to Ariel's before and the food was pretty good but not at all what we have on an everyday basis. Kinda pricey too but worth it as a special treat and if your DD will really enjoy it.

Now at first I was thinking that the 6-13 might be less crowded too but then after taking into account Veteran's Day I decided that the second week would be my suggestion. Either one will be fine. We have been on Veteran's Day before... and will be this trip too... and managed with the crowds just fine. In all honesty, I get pretty wrapped up in my own little bubble and unless the crowd is just really insane I don't usually notice the crowds so much unless they are directly in my path, like say waiting in line or walking through Adventureland.

:banana: Soooo happy to hear they will be open. This will most likely be the only trip my mom gets to take and POTC was one of the rides I really wanted to show her, so YAY DISNEY!!
I hope mom loves POTC as much as some of the rest of us!

Yeah!! I saw the update for pirates and BB for November 4, they are off the list:cool1:

What a relief for POTC to not be still showing up on that refurb list! Sounds like some of your dining plans are coming together. I need to sit down and look over mine again but for some reason I have been putting it off til the last minute.
I would assume that if you do not have to buy him a ticket to enter the park that the same rules would apply for WOC.

YES! I am so glad to hear this. Woo Hoo!:cool1::banana::cheer2::rotfl::worship: :rotfl2:
Thank heavens they didn't let us down!

You're gonna love it over there. Be prepared though cause you are going to be busy awhile looking at all the photos!
