November Check In 2010

We just returned from our quickie roadtrip to DL, the World of Color show was pretty amazing and we met a fellow DISer and watched it from the higher handicap section, wonderful view. The Verizon private party last Friday night was pretty crowded and they really didn't have enough stuff open for the amount of people.

We also were lucky and received one of the newly renovated rooms at the DLH in the Dream tower. They're pretty nice with a wood headboard going the length of the two beds with the castle and LED lights for stars and fireworks. We loved the new look.
Glad you had a safe quick trip and enjoyed the show. The new room sounds lovely!

i am planning to make some LGMH for my shoulder bag and our backpack - we always carry both with us on our days at DL

Reminds me i need to buy the supplies to make them
I'll have to dig mine out and be sure to put it on my bag that day!

Happy Monday morning to all!!!
I added some new items to the refurb list on the first page. Mainly just a few short closures here and there. I'll go ahead and repost here too just to save a few clicks.
There's so much going on in CA with all the construction that I've only posted the rides that have been affected.

I must say that I'm not too disappointed about the Village Haus being down. Hopfully they'll improve the menu while they refurb the resturant.:wizard:

I agree. I think we have only been in there twice. The last time it was so crowded that we left and went somewhere else. Evidently some people like it or it wouldn't stay crowded but we are not one of them.

I called and got my Blue Bayou reservation set this morning. Wasn't nearly as painful as calling in for WDW ADRs. I was on and off the phone in about 5 minutes. One down!

My sister is one of the ones who actually likes Village Haus. :confused3

I got my PS for Minnie & Friends and Carnation Cafe this morning. CM said the park opens at 8AM on November 11 and 13th.

YAY!! Glad to see you made the trip after all. Did you end up going to the Rivercats game? I see that they're 2-2 in the series now, hope they can pull it off. Would be great to bring home another Pacific League championship!

Ooooh, fantastic to know. I'm trying to decide which days to hit the parks. I think, since I'm coming in to OC on the 10th that I'll make my first day the 11th in hopes that the crowds will be slightly lighter, and also to hit the Jungle Cruise before it goes down for refurb. Opening at 8:00 am makes this plan that much better.

Then, I'll hit the parks again one or two more times after the 12th to get the full effect of the holiday overlay. I know it'll be much more crowded, so I'm thinking 2 visits will be necessary to see/do everything.

I just found out that a co-worker of mine has landed his dream job - working IT at DLR!! He can sign 3 people into the park each day; here's hoping he's willing to do so for me at least once (don't want to take TOO much advantage) ;)

OMG - I can't wait!!

We went to the first two games of the series last week and the RiverCats lost. I'm starting to get a complex since they seem to loose when I go. They lost yesterday so they are out of the playoffs now. :sad2:

Hopefully they go all the way next year!

sooo jealous of you guys that get to make your dinner/breakfast resies. I have to wait till later this month.;)

Question for all the seasoned November Disers. Some of the newer posts are reporting a 8am opening:banana:. Is this the normal time for November? Our dates are the 23-27 (day before thanksgiving, turkey day, and black friday in the parks).

If you trust last year's calendar, it looks very feasible. Looks like there were a lot of days at the end of the month with Disneyland open from 8am until midnight.

Well the 11th is Veteran's Day so I think that might be one of the only weekdays in early November that is going to be open at 8AM.

Thanksgiving week will probably have 8AM openings as well since thats a holiday/high attendance period.

I'm right there with you. Last time we ate there I called it the cardboard cheeseburger.

My DH also like Village Haus, go figure?:confused3

I would rather go to Carnation Cafe, the potato soup is wonderful!:cloud9:

Oh, boy...I get to join this crowd! Going to DL Nov 13-15 with my sis. We're staying at GCH :thumbsup2

Sign me up for November. I'm going with my big sis, her kids and grandkids (10/31-11/6) and my DH will be there with me 11/5-11/10). Yes, you read that right -- I'm going to be there 11 days -- 9 of them somewhere in DL/DCA. Am I going to be sick of it by the time I'm done? :upsidedow

Staying in a deluxe room at the Hojo. Flying Jet Blue from PDX to LGB. Only for-sure plan so far is a BB reservation for 11/1 with my sister. I'm just waiting for WOC news to figure that out.

Can't wait!

Add me to the list, just confirmed today. We are staying at the La Quinta in the Family/Kids Suite for 6 nights. Will be leaving Oregon on Halloween (MIGHT go to DL Halloween night if we get to Anaheim early enough) and then we will be at DL/DCA until the 5th, leaving Calif on the 6th.

Cant wait! already made PS for Big Thunder BBQ and Carnation Cafe, Orleans square is next! yay!!!

We never fly, its so much cheaper to drive, we leave at 4a.m. and are usually pulling into our hotel at around 4p.m. which gives us enough time to usually unpack, unwind, grab some yummy dinner, hit the hot tub and then get a good nights sleep before DL the next morning!

I'm so excited for our upcoming trip, can't stand it. I'm even starting a box of the things I pick up for the trip to get ready (LOL) I'm so confused on where to stay, so confused, I even made a spreadsheet, I've only been to DLR 3x, 2 stays at BWPPI and once at Jolly Roger. DH really wants to stay onsite, but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out of we should pay the extra $ or have more money to spend in the parks, PP is only $200 more so that's no big deal for 4 nights, DLH $450 and GCH is $670 (if we book thru costco we get $96 worth of character meals and $20 gift card, so we can take that off the top of the differences to make it a little lower). What would you guys do? I need advice please. I've heard mixed reviews about PP and DLH, but great things about GCH, but I really don't wanna spend that much. I loved the location of BWPPI, esp. w/DD3. What would you do? What do you think of PP or DLH? Help!! :) Much mahalo!!!

We have stayed at both PPH and DLH and much preferred PPH. This trip, we're going to try the BWPPI, and we booked through Costco. :goodvibes

Unless you absolutley need to be emearsed in the Disney sprit 24/7, I'ld save the money and stay at BWPPI. I've stayed there on past visits and found it suitable if all you need is a place to lay your head and rest your feet. They do offer a free pancake breakfast at Captin Kidds (there resturant). Be warned, however, it is just pancakes. No drinks or other sides, like eggs or bacon, is included. Captin Kidds also has a buffet, but by looking at the food, I have always opted to order off the menu. I also think that BWPPI is actually closer to the parks than the DLR hotels are, with the exception the GCH to DCA. We've travelled with our DD9 (she's be going to Disneyland every year scince she was three) and my DS2 1/2 (his first time).
