November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

If it's your first cruise, I would suggest going to the shows that are based on Disney characters. Disney Dreams, The Golden Mickeys, Twice Charmed, etc... I'm not a big fan of the other entertainers myself.

If you want a great planning website, there are some where you can take a look at the navigators, menus, and they have pictures from all over the ship. I highly suggest grabbing the latest navigator for the 7 day eastern and using those to plan your trip. That way you have an idea for what you want to do before you get on board.

They won't seem to let me link to the website I wanted to on the board though.

Morgan 4~~~To get the Ticker go to TickerFactory.com and follow the instructions. I will check on the Navigator and that is a good thing to bring up Mozart. That lists all the goings on during the entire cruise. I will see if I can get some info on a link to it.

Hi Morgan4 try this link. It brings you to the Eastern from Feb 2007. I don't see a more current one there. I hope it works. You can at least get an idea of what is going on all the time. One of these is left in your room everynight when your beds are turned down. It gives you the evening to go through it and pick out what you want to do. If I should find a more current one I will send you the link.

Thank you Motzart and WendyJersey.

As you can see, I got the ticker working. :goodvibes

I followed your link and found lots of good info.

For the onboard activities do you need to pre register, or do you just show up?

Thanks again for all your help.

I think it depends on what you do as to whether you need to pre register. Some things you can just attend and others you need to register or possibly pay an extra fee, i.e. we went to a Wendy Tea Party and that cost extra. That is for younger kids. Martini tasting you pay extra for. The movies are free and so are the shows. I know they have a beautiful spa, I took a quick tour and I think this time I want to partake in it, but I know it costs extra. I hope this helps.
By the way in order for your entire ticker to show you might want to decrease the size of your signature block or the See you in November Mickey. I had that problem when I first did my ticker.

Hi - Sillysully clan here - me, DH, DD11, DD10, DS7, will be taking our 2nd DCL cruise next year. Loved our last one and rebooked for next November. Looking forward to the Eastern islands this time! Happy holidays!!!

WendyJersey, I fixed it, yea!! :cheer2: I didn't notice that when I posted. :rolleyes1

Welcome SillySully!! I have two girls going that are about the ages of yours. My DD will be 12 and her friend will be 11. I also have a DD (8) and friends son (13).

What were your favorite things that you did on your Western DCL?

Welcome Sillysully and Morgan 4.....

My DS will be 13 and DD12 at sailing.

We're on Deck 8......

Grumpysmrs~~ Welcome fellow Buckeye!! Looks like my girls wont have a problem finding new friends onboard.

We are on deck 5.

Welcome newcomers. Morgan4 your ticker is lookin good! :thumbsup2 I had the same problem the first time and thought I did something wrong. Then I noticed others on another thread I was on were having that problem, but they figured out that something had changed with the signatures and it made the ticker lower. So we made some adjustments. Glad it worked out for you.

Hi everyone! We just got back from WDW where dh had a bad fall and fractured a rib. Found that out after we got home and after CT scan also found out he has two abdominal aneurysms. We see a specialist in Pittsburgh for a second opinion January 8. It was really frightening when he fell, but more frightening to hear the results---hopefully all will go well.

Here are some pictures to make your holidays bright and keep us cheerful too!

Thanks for your kind words. I always believe there is a reason for everything, so pehaps even for all the pain there was a reason for the fall...if could turn out to have been a life saving event. That is how we are looking at it now.

We are going to try to go to our dd the day after Christmas. That will be a long drive to South Carolina. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Happy holidays to all. I will keep you posted.:santa:

Our thoughts and prayers are with you & your husband. Have A Merry Christmas & Happy New Year despite the health issues.
Looking forward to meeting you both in November.

SC? What part of the state are you headed to. Be prepared for miserable weather. Only getting up to around 60 during the days right now. :cool2:

Thought I would stop by and wish everyone a happy holiday.

May the New Year be filled with good health, wealth and happiness for one and all.

Hope everyone had a Magical Christmas and have a Happy, healthy and safe New Year ! :cool1:  pixiedust:

Where is everyone?

Just checking in and wanted to see if any of you are driving and/or staying in Port Canaveral the night b4 the cruise?

Where are you staying?
Did you book the rooms yet or is it to early?

I did post the question in the main forum, but wanted to know where some of my shipmates mights be staying.

My kids loved making new friends and are staying in touch with them, which is really nice. Glad to hear there will be kids their ages again from the DIS - very cool.

For excursions, tops was the Royal Swim at Dolphin Discovery. I was looking forward to Stingray city, but it was cancelled due to weather. We stayed on board during Key West and just played at the beach and in the water at CC.

Haven't really thought about excursions on the Eastern. Looking forward to planning that part of our trip soon.

Happy New Year!
