November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

Where is everyone?

Just checking in and wanted to see if any of you are driving and/or staying in Port Canaveral the night b4 the cruise?

Where are you staying?
Did you book the rooms yet or is it to early?

I did post the question in the main forum, but wanted to know where some of my shipmates mights be staying.

I think we might stay at the Hyatt MCO again. Very cool walking off plane and literally feeling like vacation started right then. Kids were psyched w/limo to port next am. Lots to do, places to eat at MCO too.

Not PC. My brother lives in Orlando, and we normally end up staying with him when we're there. Last cruise, we did spend the night before at Pop Century, but there were ulterior motives for that.

For those of you who haven't noticed, the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival ends the 9th of November this year. That means that you'll be able to find us there on the 7th. We might end up staying on property the night of the 7th so we don't have to worry about driving if we have a little more wine than we should...which we probably will. :rolleyes1

I really wish we could do that!! But with 2 girls in school, we don't want to take them out any more days then necessary. (Maybe it is necessary:rolleyes1 )

Orginally posted by SillySully
tops was the Royal Swim at Dolphin Discovery.

My DD12 would LOVE  to do that someday, it is not in the budget this time. Hopefully we will do that on the next cruise!!!

We are thinking of staying at the Radisson and shuttle over, anyone else?

SC? What part of the state are you headed to. Be prepared for miserable weather. Only getting up to around 60 during the days right now. :cool2:

I didn't see your note until today! We went to Summerville, SC. We were in terrible rain on the way down and then coming home we had snow, but no problems! We got home just in time because it got bad later that evening---New Years Day.

We gave our daughter and son-in-law three days before cruise at the Beach Club as part of their Christmas gift. They are very excited, but no more than we are. I could use some of that nice weather we had in November right now!:surfweb: .

Hope everyone had a good new year.

We go to doctor in Pittsburgh at UPMC on Tuesday. Garry is still in pain, but this doctor is for the aneurysms We are taking one day at a time! I will keep you posted.

Thanks for all you kind thoughts.

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been here, but with the holidays and 12 hour work days sitting in front of a computer all those hours.......Well I guess you can see that I'm usually pretty tired of looking at a monitor. Anyway......
Hope everyone had a great holiday with your families. Ours was great here as we were able to see Faireygodmother and DH along with DS, DIL and DGD. They were up from VA and we all headed to NY to see family. We had a short visit, but Faireygodmother and I had some great laughs as usual. We will be seeing each other again at the end of the month as Faireygodmother was selected to host a DCL party and me and my DH are going to it. So it should be fun.
Pixie DustII the pictures were great of your stay at WDL. To bad about your DH's fall. That must have been painful. But in one sense it alerted you both to another problem. Sometimes some good comes from some bad. Hope all goes well with his 1/8/08 appointment. Here is some pixiedust: and :grouphug: :grouphug: for goodluck. Please keep us all informed of how he is doing!! Tell him to get heal fast as we have a cruise in 308 days.
At this point I have on my DCL count down clock 308 days and 7 hours before our ship takes off. I can't wait. Did anyone else get the countdown clock emailed to them from DCL? It is great. You can do fireworks in pirate: fashion also in :smickey: fashion and good old New Year's fashion.
Well, guess I'd better get going doing the usual :laundy: as it is the weekend.
Hope everyone has a Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year and we should have a happy one it is our year to "Cruise"!!

The last time we stayed at the Orlando Airport on Friday and on Saturday we bused in. That is because there was a group of 23 of us. So we all met at the hotel and left in the morning together. It worked out for us. I did our flight in Feb or March along with reserving our room at the airport. Faireygodmother, our obsessive, complusive planner reserved the bus and kept us all in line like little ducks all in a row from the start of our planning til we got off the ship upon return to PC. This is her calling in life keeping us all straight when it comes to cruising. Let me tell you she is the greatest at what she does! :thumbsup2

You are talking about the Hyatt at the airport? Yes it is great to walk off a plane and literally into a Mall that walks you right to your hotel. I loved it. It did feel like the vaca started right then! :cool1: Everyone at the hotel was so nice also. Never had a problem one.

Countdown clock? Is it made just for you or do you think you could forward that e-mail?

My mom and I will be staying at the Hyatt MCO as well! This will be our first time to stay there. We booked our DCL trip through a Travel agent who booked it through the Disney Cruise Line website. Then they have it set up for us to ride the DCL bus to the port to get on the ship. We are also looking into maybe doing a day at the Magic Kingdom after the cruise or maybe before, so we will see what happens.

I will see what I can do about getting the link here. You have to download it. I do notice that if you close it you have to reopen it again and put in the date and then it starts running again. We just saved it as an icon on the desktop so we can open it. As I said you just have to put the date in each time unless you just continually leave it on your screeen.

It is a nice hotel and it opens right into the mall. It is great if you are a shopper and get there early.

Hello Everyone and a late Happy New Year! I have read the last few posts and am so excited to see more 12-16 year olds:cool1: We have always stayed at the Radison, but last time it seemed a little dirty. I think we may try the Hyatt at MCO as well. How soon does the first Disney bus leave? We may have to rent a limo -- we love to get to port early:banana:

We got to the port at 10 am by taking limo; plus it was more cost effective for 5 of us than DCL buses.

What excursions are you all thinking about? I prefer to book on our own. We're considering a half day snorkel/sail in STT and a half day beach break in SXM.

We are thinking about the Rhino Riders in St. Martin and going to St. John on our own. We have heard such great things about St. John.

We are DVC members so we booked at OKW from 10/30 to 11/8 prior to the cruise. We are getting together with about 20 Disney friends (3 of whom will be sailing with us). We do this every other year & plan events like an Illuminations Cruise, Haunted Hay Ride, Food & Wine Party of the Senses, MNSSHP & hopefully lunch or dinner with an Imagineer.

Welcome to the DIS! We'll be joining you on Deck 7. As for your questions, I recommend first keeping an eye on the main cruise forum. Every question you can conceivably think of will probably be asked and answered multiple times on that forum between now and our cruise. And you'll pick up alot of great secret hints and tips that will make your cruise planning better. To me, the most important part of enjoying a cruise is the planning of it. A well planned cruise is the most enjoyable of all.

I'm not sure about strollers, but do not think they are available on board. I do know that you can ship stuff to the port. If you call DCL customer service, they will give you all the information such as address, when you need to ship by, and how you need to label the box in order for it to get to your stateroom. They do have restrictions on what can and cannot be shipped, so you may want to ask about that as well.

We left at 9 or 10 and we were at port early, but at least we didn't have to stand in any long lines or rush around. There wasn't anyone in line and we were all able to find seats to sit in while we waited to get word to board the ship.

Welcome Bigdog7775!!! The more the merry....
Mozart is correct in saying to keeping an eye on the main cruise forum. There are always tips being passed around by fellow cruisers. Our DH and DIL had their little one who was only 5 months old on the cruise. They did bring there own stroller and they flew in from VA. There was so much activity going on that I don't think I heard a peep from our little DGD the whole trip. So much for them to look at and keep their little minds busy. She was great on the trip.
From the looks of things there are going to be a lot of big groups going on this trip. I'm sure as time goes on more people will be joining this thread. As I said before everyone is here to help each other to have a better trip.
I can't give to much info on the kids end, but I can say that the only time I ever saw any kids was at dinner. They are kept pretty busy while on board.
Have a great evening everyone!
Here is the link for the DCL Count Down Clock. Remember you do have to download something so that it works. I am hoping that the link works for you.
Copy, paste and open in your brower. Good luck
