Bucket List Ideas?

Top country: too many, but I'll say Greece as being the number 1 priority

Top USA destination: the Alaskan national parks, particularly Katmai and Denali

Not related to travel: Does living in another country count? If not, maybe the Richard Petty experience

Better than I expected: The Grand Canyon. It's obviously a major attraction for a reason, and everyone knows pictures don't do it justice. But standing in the canyon and looking up at rock walls thousands of feet tall is a core memory for me.

Also on my bucket list: Taiwan, China, Vietnam, African safari, Chile, Argentina, Antartica cruise, Australia, New Zealand

Thanks for all the replies!

Top US - Pacific Northwest (Oregon / Washington / etc)
This is currently also what tops my USA bucket list!

1. What's the top country now on your bucket list?
Greece ( planned for next year) and then Iceland
Those are also my top two countries, except I have Iceland first. To you and all others who said Greece: are you doing just mainland, just islands, or both? If you're including Greek islands, then which ones? I think Crete looks interesting! It looks like you can take ferries between the islands and stay on the islands, or you can stay on a cruise ship and do excursions on the islands. Has anyone chosen a tour company or cruise line for the Greek islands?

Greece is on my long term bucket list. Its a bit easier for me as I am from Ireland so I dont have the big expense of transatlantic flights. I have travelled extensively in Europe, both land and cruises.

I did an escorted bus tour around Europe about 20 years ago and that type of travel is a one and done for me. It was very hectic, 7 countries in 12 days, mostly just one night in each city or area, packing and unpacking almost every day, up early every morning for a 4 or 5 hour bus journey to the next place. We packed in a lot and did many things I wouldnt have done without being in an escorted group. It was nice to just pay the money and have the whole 12 days of travel, accommodation, food and things to do planned by someone else, but I did miss the freedom of just exploring on my own.

I prefer land DIY when I travel to a single city or small area. I am very comfortable being in a country where English is not the first language, booking hotels, taking public transport and sightseeing, going to restaurants and places of interest on my own.

I prefer cruising to visit multiple places in a short time or a larger area. Up until now I have done 4 Disney cruises , Norwegian Fjords, 2 North Spain cruises and 1 North France cruise. I like the convenience of being on a moving hotel and having one base but being able to visit multiple places. In 2026 I am doing my first MSC cruise in Europe. I know it will be a very different experience to Disney. I switched to MSC because Disney only have a ship in Europe during June, July, August and September and I want to cruise in Europe in a different time of the year. MSC have multiple ships in Europe the whole year round which opens up so many places like Greece and doesn't limit me to specific months or seasons.

I'm updating my bucket list and looking for some new ideas.

1. What's the top country now on your bucket list?
2. What's the top USA destination now on your bucket list?
3. What's a priority on your bucket list that is not related to travel?
4. What is something you already accomplished on your bucket list, that turned out to be even better than you expected
I really need to get started with my bucket list - I’m not getting any younger - I’m turning 54 next month :earseek:

To answer your questions….

1. Italy - I want to go to Rome.
2. Disneyland
3. Prepare to move to Florida when DH retires
4. We always wanted a DVC contract and we just closed on a resale contract this past summer. We haven’t used it yet, so I can’t say if it’s better than expected, but I’m sure it will be. The next bucket list thing for this is to get a direct DVC contract so we can get the member perks and to have more points.
