November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

I talked to faireygodmother and she said you need to call DCL or your travel agent. They can arrange to have you sit with whomever you want. If you find someone on this thread that wants to sit with you I would assume you both need to make a call to get yourselves at the same table. Hope that helps!:flower3:

Thanks, WendyJersey for asking for me! This helps a lot. Now I just need to find someone that would want to eat with my mom and I......

Hi all:
I have been checking out the excursions and many, many of them have a minimum age. My youngest turns 5 on the ship (but the day after St. Thomas/St. John). She would love one of the snorkel excursions on St. Johns. My question... is 4 yrs, 364 days close enough to being 5 to count? I called DCL to ask if the age restriction was that absolute and the rep wasn't all that clear/helpful/knowledgeable and said that it would be up to the tour company but didn't have access to the names of the companies for me to check.

BTW: we have just had a cold snap here (-40 C/F) so I hung my bathing suit on the back of the bedroom door in the hope of keeping my sanity until this cruise!

Hello all!!!
I haven't been able to get on the boards lately and now I have a lot to catch up on.

WELCOME FANTASTIC FOUR :cheer2: :cheer2: Glad to have you. As far as your excursion question: How would they know your sons birthday? I would think that 4, 364 would be fine. I would say he is 5.

BTW - where are you from that it was -40!! BUUURRRRR!!

GECKO1 - We finally reserved the zip line!! Our time is around 10am.

We are:
Me, DH (not telling you our ages... egad... don't want to think of that!)
DD (10) loves drama, singing, extremely social)
DD (5) loves horses, princesses and mom (She is actually having her 5th birthday during the cruise!)

We have 2 DD, will be 8 and 12 at time of cruise.

GOOFYFD - loved the link, I will be sure to use these!

STITCH'S O'HANA - I haven't looked at swimsuits yet, but I did by a black cocktail dress for formal night!! I love it!! I started a bag with all things for the cruise. I might have to upgrade my bag to a suitcase..:rolleyes1

GECKO1 AND WENDYJERSEY - I'm sure that DH and friend's DH would prefer "distilled" I would be happy doing either ... or BOTH!!

WENDYJERSEY - GO GIANTS!!!!
They were great!! Loved it when ELI broke out of the almost sack in the 4th with 2 min left. Broke out and then TouchDown!! Awesome.

I think I got caught up.

How do you reference anothers post in your reply? When I copy, it doesn't say "Originally posted by ..." Do you add that or is there another way to copy?

Will be back L8R, got to get back to work. lunch is over.

Hi All,
Still recovering from the Superbowl. Long time Giants fan. My DH (Redskins fan:confused3 ) and I have gone to many games. Unfortunately could not go this year but WOW what a game!

GoofyFD- I really like the cards. Thank you for showing everyone.

FantasticFour- We have a DS(5) and a DD(3.9) by the time of the cruise. She loves the Princesses and Barbies and games. I'm sure they will meet at the pool.

I have started writing my many many lists and will start shopping soon. I usually pick up a little at a time.

Gecko1- Are DW who prefer distilled invited too? That's more my style on vacation

Stitches- Is your black dress long (gown) or shorter? I have a black dress with beading that is below the knee. Is that ok for Formal night?

Will check back tomorrow. Everyone have a good night.

Hi Everyone!

My mom and I are looking at now at leaving on Nov.6 and staying at Pop Century for 2 nights and doing one day at the Magic Kingdom park! When we get in on the 6th we would just go to Downtown Disney and walk around, do some shopping and have dinner. Then on the 7th we would spend our day at The Magic Kingdom! Then of course on the 8th is the big day, head for Disney Cruise Line!!!!!!!!! Our travel agent is helping us do all of this. As before we booked our airfare and everything through DCL, but we have found if we take the airfare off and just book the airfare our selfs we are able to do the 2 night stay at Pop Century and do the one day park pass, plus we have about $50.00 left over after doing all that! We still need the transfers from our resort to the Port and then from the Port back to the airport. We were told we would need to take a Taxi from Pop Century over the the Swan Resort to get on the DCL Bus. As the DCL Bus would not pick us up at Pop Century. We are very excited at being able to add this on to our trip, it will make it even more special!

Morgan4~ I hear ya on upgrading the bag to a suitcase, we are all going to need huge suitcases! LOL And maybe two each! LOL For all I want to bring home with me! Be sure not to wait to long for swimming suits, they go fast!

mimi'sgirl~ Your dress sounds nice, I think it would be just fine for Formal night. I really need to find myself a nice dress, for formal night.

So does everyone already have passports? I have never gotten one either has my mom, so this will be our first time to get one. We are going to go at get ours in March.

Also would anyone like to pair up our dinner times, so a group of us could maybe eat at dinner times together? It's just my mom and I, just thought it would be nice to sit with another DISboard member.

Do you have early or late dining?

My dress is just under the knee. I will be wearing it for Formal night, (unless I find something that I like better)
I am glad that Formal night is the 2nd night, my dress is form fitting around the middle, If formal night was at the end of the cruise, I don't think I could get into it!!!:rotfl:

Gecko1- Are DW who prefer distilled invited too? That's more my style on vacation

I agree!! But maybe the "boys" don't want us there?!?

STITCH'S O'HANA - We are on late seating, are you? We have the four of us and our friends w/kids, 8 of us total. Don't know how many are at a table? But you would be welcome.

Passports - we havn't yet, just found out that the price went up to $100 in OH. Oh well, we were going to do it in April or when we get the taxes :scared1: done.

I wish we could go down early, but DH would REALLY LOVE to go to Homestead, Fl after the cruise. Any NASCAR Fans? Last race of season is that Sunday!! Want to send kids home with friends  and just go the 2 of us. Haven't ask the friends yet.:rolleyes1

There is a food and wine festival on Nov 7??? Can someone share more about this. We arrive on the 6th. I was planning to stay overnight at the Hyatt airport (we arrive at 1am) and then take a towncar to the port area and spend the day before at Cocoa Beach (haven't settled on a hotel) so DD10 could surf. But... if there is a food and wine festival, he he, I might just make other plans.

I'm planning on wearing a long dress for the formal night (DH loves dressing up and plans to wear a tux)-- will I stand out?

I checked again with Disney and casually asked again about ages for ship excursions and the age limit for DD4 who turns 5 on the ship. They said that given that all age details are on record, it probably would be "caught" as it would simply say that she was 4. So... unless I go with a private operator, DD4 won't snorkel. But then again, she gets to do a Disney cruise, so I think she will get over it :)

DD4 thinks that they need a Disney Hawaii (Hawaii is her favourite place on the planet).

It's the EPCOT food and wine festival. Only the greatest time to be at EPCOT the whole year. But it can get real expensive real fast sampling all that food.

Do you have early or late dining?

That's right, we will have to keep it mind. But I think we are just going to do the Magic Kingdom, as of right now.

We have early, for Main dinning time at 6:00 p.m.

My mom and I have early dinner time, for main dinning at 6:00p.m. So I guess that won't work, but thanks for the welcome of letting us sit with you guy's.

Good thing about the Passports, as I am pretty sure they are good for 10 years! So if that's true, that helps out a little.

I'm planning on wearing a long dress for the formal night (DH loves dressing up and plans to wear a tux)-- will I stand out?

I think you will look great! Don't worry about everyone else, do what you want, it is your cruise.

My 4 are dressing up for priate night, but our friends (the adults anyway) probably wont. I don't care, we want to, so we will.

Nancy, Morgan4, Mimi'sGirl: Of course your invited! I don't even know if Ang (DW) will want to go to the Palo's Tea as I am planning to reserve the Palo brunch and dinner (RAS package!). What I do know is that I have no interest in sampling teas and bite sized sandwiches. I was just floating the idea of an alternative for those of us that will be ummmmm.... "left out" (yeah that sounds good) of the tea. We will have to form a support group and drown our disappointment with a few strong drinks! :thumbsup2 I guess I will hold my bourbon glass with my pinky out that afternoon.

I will have to see how many of you join me for the cigar night. I am one of those that enjoys a good cigar about once a month. My DW won't have anything to do with me when I "reek" of cigars though. Good thing there is only one cigar night :lmao:

We are not yet linked to anyone for dinners, etc. But we will likely want to meet up with some of the families with kids around the ages of ours. Right now we are in the late seating rotation. I am debating the pros and cons of trying to get that switched.

Ang and I renewed our passports late last year. It was scary how young we looked in our expired ones. The kids now have their first passports. Pretty neat. I didn't have a passport until I was 21! --- It's a different world our kids are growing up in ---

If I've gotten used to finger sandwiches and fruity teas, any guy can get used to it. I'm a NASCAR fan after all. Just suck it up and put up with it for an hour. :)

In bad news, the ACC announced this fall's football schedule today. My beloved Clemson Tigers will be playing Florida State on Nov 8th. This is a problem. A real problem. During the game, you will be able to find me in Diversions. I'll be the guy who's wife isn't talking to him because he allowed Clemson football to ruin the first night of the cruise.

Amen!!!! I don't like dressing up when it's HOT out (like the Bahamas). It's crazy, men have to wear under shirt, long sleeve shirt, long pants, tie, jacket, etc.... Now you girls all you wear is a nice dress and your done.

Not that there is any thing wrong with that.....

Do what makes you and your family feel is right it's your night....and don't forget to have fun!!!

Thanks for the invite. I think my DH would "drown his disappointment" with you. :drinking1 But I don't think he with put his pinky out!

But I will pass on cigar night, I'm with Ang. Although Bill thought that sounded like a great idea. The two of you can then sleep on deck 9!!:rotfl:

We are on late dining also. Thought about switching, but we think we will stick with it. I would like to see the sun set, and acording to the TRS that I have read, you miss that at early seating. Plus I like the fact that we will have later breakfast. (Not an early riser). We will just have the kids eat a snack around 4-5, then they should be fine for later. If not they can stay in the labs and us adults can have a quiet meal together.

Mozart,
I'm a NASCAR fan after all.

Us too. Are you ready for the Bud-Shootout! Who is your driver? :car:

Stitches- We will be at Pop from Nov 2 - the morning of the cruise. We are driving from NJ so I figured we would make the most of it. I would offer you a ride to the port but with 2 little ones, strollers and all that go with them - I don't think we would have the room. Oh I forgot about separate suitcases for the World and then the cruise. Yikes- I better get shopping.

Gecko1- My DH would love to join you for cigar night. He usually picks up a few good ones on the islands ;) then enjoys them on the cruise. Doesn't smoke them at home though. I agree with your DW. He can air himself out on the deck afterwards.

FantasticFour- Your husband will be fine with a tux. Though I have never been on a Disney cruise I've read and have seen pictures of people that are more dressed up on the 7 night cruise.

Morgan4- We will be dressing up for Pirate's Night also. I'm thinking of costumes for the kids and blk. pants and a white shirt for me. DH will be happy with blk. dress shorts, white shirt and a pirate vest. How about you?

GoofyFD- My DH feels the same way about the suits. He wears shorts for as long as he can. Had them on the other day but luckily it was in the 60's.

Bye for now.

Us too. Are you ready for the Bud-Shootout! Who is your driver? :car:

I've been fortunate in my drivers. I grew up a Cale Yarborough fan because he was our local boy. Lived about 20 minutes down the road from us. I went to high school with his daughters and we used to get pit passes to Darlington through them, back in the day when noone thought twice about that kind of stuff. Enjoyed a few Daytona 500 wins and championships along the way.

After he retired, I became a Rusty Wallace fan. Another championship and a ton of short track wins. I was a little spoiled by the time he gave it up.

Then, I started pulling for Michael Waltrip. Haven't had alot to celebrate recently. :confused3

And yours?
