November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

No need to be intimidated. This will be our first Disney Cruise and thus first door signs. Learned about them here! I like the community side of it (DIS) and it's a great idea to help the kids quickly locate our room among the hundreds of identical doors.

I am pulling together graphics from these boards and around the web. Some I am changing or merging, others will be simple Mickey Mouse type things. That way we can have some stay up and the kids can change others to match the days theme.

There are two door signs / graphic threads going on the main DCL board. Most are willing to let you use their designs. If you do not have the software to personalize something yourself, a PM request to the person may get you some help.

Ahh my favorite movie as a child!!!

I just got home from shopping and I bought myself a new swimming suit to wear on the Disney Cruise! It is such a cute swimming suit too, it's a two piece (but they match up together, so it looks like it is a one piece but it's not). The top is brown, with really pretty tropical looking flowers on it( that are pink and blue, along with some green in it). And the board shorts are brown with white strips on the sides. I got it at JCpenneys, as my mom works there. I figured if I did not buy it now, I would not be able to find it latter.

I also went to our Hobby Lobby store and bought some clear contact paper and magnetic strips, so I can use those to make our door signs with! It will give me something to do, that's fun and will help pass some time bye.

Just had to share with you guy's! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Its been so cooled and rainy here. We are looking so forward to being on the beach. I hope everyone has a good Super Bowl Sunday. :cheer2:

Your bathing suit sounds cute. I haven't bought a bathing suit in many many years. Wouldn't feel right getting into one and then scare the death :scared1: out of someone:laughing:
Anyway I'm working on that problem now doesn't mean I'll get to wear a bathing suit, but I'd like to try to get there. In staples the have these clear plastic items that you can stick your door sign into and then attach the magnetic strips to it.

It is a very cute bathing suit and it looks very good on too! You should check out JCpenney's they have some very nice bathing suits that work for everyone.

Thanks for telling me about the clear plastic items, I will have to check them out. It's going to be fun making all of these door signs! I plan on making enough to cover the whole door!

I have a question, since it's just my mom and I going on this cruise I know we will have tablemates for our meals which is fine with us. But I was just wondering if there was away to maybe plan it so we could sit by a fellow DISboard member. That's if anyone be interested in siting with us. I just thought it would be kinda of nice, as we could talk on the boards leading up to the cruise and get to know each other a head of time.

Has anyone done this before on another DCL trip?

Well we went with a group of about 23 and we were all seated together. I think that had to do with our planner, faireygodmother. She would be the best to answer this one. I will email her and see if I can get her to answer this one.

That could be done fairly simply. All you have to do is have one of you call DCL with both of your cabin numbers, and they will hook them up. It's just an issue of making sure you both have dining at the same time.

Stich's Ohana, I think you would just have to link the reservations.

I am hoping to get to know many in the DIS group and their families prior to our cruise. It would be nice if some of our kids could find each other here on the boards or through e-mail. That would help build the excitement for them, looking forward to meeting someone they have been "talking to" and also make the cruise transition a bit easier jumping right in with someone they know something about.

Of course, I have my own motivations. Such as while my DW will likely want to go to the Palos Tea, I would rather be with some other husbands during that time sampling "teas" of a more distilled nature ;) .

Perhaps I should start a new thread for this??? But, to get this rolling...

Our characters: (ages at time of cruise)
Rick (Gecko1)
Angeleen (DW)
Mira (DD) - 9, horses (rides), art, reading, etc
Mike (DS) - 8, rockclimbing, wrestling, etc.

This is our first cruise and is a family celebration for becoming debt-free (other than the house). We worked our way out of a big hole as a family and put off many things we wanted during that time. This is almost like a new start for us!

Hi all:
Delighted that I found this board. All I can do is talk about this cruise, so I must be driving everyone I know nuts! Now I can share my obsession with others.

4 of us travelling (from the mountains of western Canada) where the snow will likely be flying as we fly off (he he)

We are:
Me, DH (not telling you our ages... egad... don't want to think of that!)
DD (10) loves drama, singing, extremely social)
DD (5) loves horses, princesses and mom (She is actually having her 5th birthday during the cruise!)

This will be our 3rd cruise this year (Hawaii and Alaska on NCL)! We caught the cruise bug and I'm enjoying the experience. I especially love that the "hotel" moves during the night and you wake up in a new part of paradise without having to pack your bags.

I responed.

As the OP state. All you have to do is link resies , however if one is using a travel agent you must go through the agent.

We had a ladies tea on one of my other cruises. It might be something some folks might want to consider here as well. This would definately get some of you DH's off the hook:thumbsup2

I talked to faireygodmother and she said you need to call DCL or your travel agent. They can arrange to have you sit with whomever you want. If you find someone on this thread that wants to sit with you I would assume you both need to make a call to get yourselves at the same table. Hope that helps!:flower3:
