November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Clair,
Goofy's sleepover is a pajama party where all the kids are invited to show up that evening in the clubs on the pajamas. Of course about everyone has Disney themed PJ's. They use to have snacks and a couple of disney movies. They use to lay sleeping matts on the floor and the kids snuggled up on them in their PJ's and a few had blankets to watch the movie. Most fall asleep before its done and will stay there sleeping until mom or dad comes to get them that evening.

That lets the sleepy ones rest while the parents can have a later night out on the ship. Since the kids are dressed for bed its easy to pickt hem up and put them to bed.

They have changed all the age separations for most events in the clubs a couple years ago so it may be for all kids in the clubs who want ot particiapte.
I will try and find a recent Navigator today and see if I can find details about it. If I do I will post the details I can find.

Anybody else been watching hurricane Rena? I think thats the name. It is approaching Cuba today. Most forecasters say it will then head for the gulf of
Mexico.
But there are a couple who say it may turn and go towards Florida:confused3

Keep that pixie dust coming that it heads away from Florida.

Good morning, everyone! One day closer!!

I was watching the news this morning, and there is a Cat 2 hurricane in the Caribbean right now! But, it looks like it is not near St. Maarten or St. Thomas, but more in the Western Caribbean. Hopefully it'll stay there!!!!

Here is a question of the day:
Who is not leaving until Nov 4, and who is leaving before Nov 4, and which day are you leaving. (I know some of you answered this yesterday)

We are flying to MCO early morning on Nov 4 (well, early morning for the West Coast... I guess late morning for the East Coast ) We arrive at MCO around 5:30 PM FL time. But, we decided last night that we are going to get a hotel next to the airport here in Seattle the night before on Nov 3 for several reasons. First, Nov 3 is Tyler's birthday, and I've been asking him what he wants for his birthday. He has been thinking about it, and he can't think of any thing he really wants, except he said last night he thinks it'd be really fun to stay at a hotel at the airport the night before we fly out so he can watch airplanes, and not only does he love to watch airplanes, but he loves staying in hotels! :) So, I asked him if he would want that to be his birthday present, and he just lit up and said yes!! So, that is the main reason we are doing this. The other reasons is if we didn't get a hotel, we'd have to wake up at like 4 AM, and leave our house by like 5 AM. If we got a hotel, we could sleep until 6 AM, which sounds SO much better!! :) Also, this particular hotel we are staying at has a super good "stay and park" package where you stay a night, but can leave your car there while you are traveling. It was such a good deal that we couldn't pass it up!

So, "technically" we are leaving on Nov 3, but we are not leaving Seattle until the morning of Nov 4. :)

Happy Tuesday everyone:yay:

NC2WDW, sorry to hear about your Mom, but so glad that she will still be joining us!

We have first seating, i know our kids are older, and we never eat that early at home, but it just seemed like we had more of an evening after dinner.

Kathy (GMA) Tell me about Goofy's sleepover, what age group is it for? Now assuming i can get my kids to the kids clubs, this might be fun for them!

I was pretty busy yesterday, i got some gifts for the FE, i booked my car rental, and well that was about it, but it was a start! I am not sure where to book our hotel. It would be cheaper to stay in Orlando, but my concern is how much traffic will be going into Cocoa Beach for the airshow on the Saturday!

Have a Magicial day everyone!

I can tell you about Goofy's sleepover.... both of my boys have done it. :) It is really fun! The kids wear their PJ's (and some don't... it's not required to wear PJ's), and they set out all these floor pillows, and then Goofy comes and hangs out with all the kids. I'm not exactly sure WHAT they do the entire time, but I am guessing they play games and have fun with Goofy, but I do know they all sit on the floor pillows and watch a movie with Goofy. And, I forget the time when they ask parents to come pick up the kids... it might be when the kid's club closes, which is late (like midnight), but the kids can fall asleep.... I think once the movie is over, they calm all the kids down, and have them all lay down on the pillows and they can go to sleep.

I remember when my boys did this, they didn't fall asleep... I think it was just too distracting for them to actually fall asleep, so the CM's just let them get up and play until we got there... so it's not like they force the kids to sleep, but a lot of kids DO fall asleep (probably the ones whose body's and sleep habits just won't let them stay up late).

Anyway, my boys enjoyed it! They exclusively got to hang out with Goofy for the evening! So, it is definitely worth it if your kids are into that sort of thing.

Thanks. I was going through withdrawal and needed to check in.

Everything I am seeing for hurricane Rina says it will hit Cancun. Here is hoping.

I also saw this, too, that a couple of the weather models are showing the hurricane will move toward Southern Florida! :scared1: But, the majority of the weather models are showing it heading toward the gulf of Mexico, so let's hope the majority of the weather models are correct!!!! FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!! We have to have perfect weather!!! :thumbsup2

Answer to Kathy's QOTD:

We are leaving Thursday, November 3rd. Plan to hit WDW on Friday (assuming no hurricanes . . . :scared1:) then drive to the port Saturday in a rental car. Karen's aunt and uncle live in Orlando, so we will be staying with them.

Ok, I have already answered the question of the day recently , however its so much fun to think about it, I will answer it again:goodvibes

We are leaving Oct 28th in the evening for a park n fly hotel near PDX. We also got a great deal to spend one night and leave the truck there while we are gone. We must be up around 3 a.m. to catch the 4 a.m. shuttle to the airport to catch a 6 a.m. flight.

We will arrive around 5:30 to 6 P.M. Can't remember the exact time.
Then we take the Magical express to the All Star Music Resort for the week. First time at that resort.

Then saturday the 5th we catch the Disney Cruise line bus to the port. Usually they get you around 12:30 to 1:00 P.M. to get you to the port. They will call and give us the exact time after we arrive.
The ride to the port, board the ship and we are off for a Magical week aboard the Disney Magic.

I wont discuss going home. No point in thinking about the bad part of a vacation at this point.;)

Kathy, this made me think of another question to add to the question of the day (you already answered it in your post). But, when is everyone planning on arriving to port?

My answer is, I think our online checkin time is 11:30. Since we are staying at Hyatt MCO Friday night, and taking Disney transportation, we don't have an "exact" time we plan to arrive to port, but since our checkin time is 11:30, I'm guessing we'll leave the Hyatt MCO on the Disney bus around 10:30 and arrive to port 11:15 - 11:30. So, that is our plan, I think. If all goes as planned, we hopefully should be on board by 12:00 - 12:30.

So, Kathy, you guys will get to port after us... but I'm wondering how many will actually meet at the Port building! Wonder if we'll all recognize each other from our pictures before the official cruise meet?? :) :) There will probably be a lot of those funny looks in the port building where someone stares at you and you can tell they are thinking, "I wonder if that is 'so and so' ", and then you give the same funny stare back thinking the exact same thing, but neither says anything because they aren't totally sure... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But, maybe some of us will officially meet in person at port before the 3 PM cruise meet at the Promenade Lounge. Well, for us, if you see a family of 4 with 2 boys, but one boy has bright red hair, that very likely will be us! :thumbsup2 Having a red headed son always makes it easy for people to find our family! I love that! :)

Kathy

We leave November 1 and drive down. Our check-in time is 11:30 but the port opens at 11 so we are going to try and get there at 11. We are staying at the comfort Inn in Cocoa Beach and will take their shuttle.

Hi Everyone, I've been watching the weather channel and they are saying Rina will cross Cuba -- almost hit Cancun but turn east and head across Cuba on Sun. I hope it moves thru as they predict quickly because storms usually clear out the weather for a while after. But if it slows it could impacts some of us who are planning to head into WDW before the cruise. Am throwing as much Pixie dust down on it from NC as I can. Peter's home sick from school today with a fever and I am hoping he's just getting a cold virus or something. If he's still feverish by tomorrow I am taking him to the Dr. just to make sure it isn't strep or something worse. He's such a trooper and seems fine but is tired. So between one eye on the weather channel and the other on the thermometer I am starting to worry because we leave a week from tomorrow. Now, thank goodness this all isn't happening the day before we leave but why do these things always have to be so stressful?

Hope everyone else's plans are smooth and easy. We haven't even gotten suit cases out yet. I wanted to last weekend but I was sick and my mom had her 65th bday that we celebrated. This Fri after Peter's asleep we're having a packing fest. Scott doesn't know it yet but that will be our date night. :)

Can't wait to see everyone.

Kathy -got your email. Weather permitting we are going to MK on 11/4. I will talk to Scott about our schedule. I know he made a dining reservation but am not sure for what time. Would love to meet up with you and everyone.

Pray the hurricane goes over Cancun and never turns east. Texas desperately needs rain anyway.

Have a great day everyone.

Karen

Praying that Rina goes away.

Also, is there anywhere on the ship to get some good sushi?

Usually one day the Buffet on deck 9 will have a seafood day. That day they usually have several types of sushi. Last time we saw it, it was not on the normal buffet line. once you go down the buffet line, across the back between the 2 buffet lines there is a station that in the mornings cooks fresh omelets and such, well it will change at lunch to daily specials. Thats where i saw many different types of sushi on seafood day.

I dont eat it so I cant say how good it was but it did disappear fast so someone liked it.:thumbsup2 They will keep refilling it all through lunch time.

Kathy

We are driving down on the 4th and should arrive in Cocoa Beach around 6pm. We will stay at a hotel and use their park n cruise. Their shuttle will take us to port at 11:30, which is our port arrival time. Ironically I'm not going nuts about getting there super early. I'm normally a rusher and do it aller, but I'm going to take this trip slow and enjoy the ride!

So for some reason i feel like i'm a day off. It feels like it should be wednesday and it is only tuesday. :sad1: I think I may be wanting to leave on vacation a bit too much. Side note the mosquito's are swarming, and I mean SWARMING :scared1:.
Heres hoping that rain comes to texas!! DH just finished yanking all the baby tree's out of the ground today so a little rain would be perfect to let me plant some coastal grass.

It's time to shop today, the lack of food in the house is driving me to the grocery store, i'm trying not to get to much cause i don't want it sitting around while we are gone.

My suitcases come out this weekend: the goal to get everything packed and organized except essentials we use everyday. Chances of that actually getting done.........thats why i have 4 more days. :rolleyes1

Question of the day answer: We fly out thursday night getting into florida at 11:55pm, so still thursday........
Port arrival time is 1, but parental units and sister are 1:30, so i treat it like a fastpass, don't go early but anytime after is fine. Don't know if we'll be pushing it to make the 3 meet. I don't know how long it takes to get through the whole process.

Karen: So sorry to hear about your son. Hope he feels better.
