November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Morning everyone,

Kathy, I have the simpliest cell phone. I do not even know how to text people and I dont care to. My DH and son both have nice phones with apps on them that are so advanced I would hate to have to learn all that. They also have a GPS so they can tell where each other are at.

My DH has a fancy phone provided by work too.
I told him when he got me my phone to get the most simple one he could find.
It is hard to find a simple one any more.

I am off to the store to get groceries this morning. Plus more magnetic sheets for my door signs.
Back later,

Kathy

You guys sound just like my husband with the cell phone! We just upgraded in April and he insisted that I upgrade my Blackberry to the new iPhone, but then he picked out the most basic phone that the store had. He did get one with a texting keyboard, he said he was going to learn how to text:rotfl: but he never activated the texting plan!

One of the good things about my phone is that I can still post on here, when my kids are hogging the computer:thumbsup2

I'm loving the simple phone thing here.... the ONLY reason I text is because most of my friends text ALL the time, and I never ever texted. My phone has texting capabilities, but I never used it. I found out my friends were sending me text messages, but I didn't even know they were there becuase i didn't even know how to check the text messages, let alone send one. :lmao: So, finally a couple of my friends asked why I am totally ignoring their texts, and I was so puzzled! :confused3 I didn't even know they had sent me texts!! :rotfl: So, a couple of my friends pretty much did an intervetion with me :rotfl: and showed me how to text and told me once I start doing it, I'll realize what I've been missing!! :rotfl: So, I figured it out, and I do have to say, I DO like it.... it's much better than calling on the phone (for just small things like questions, etc). So, now I text all the time, but have only been texting for less than a year....

But, other than that, I'm just very simple when it comes to a phone. I do like being able to access email and the internet on my phone because I do email a lot!! It's my main mode of communicaton when I'm not speaking to people in person, so it's nice having email access on my phone, and internet access, too, for when I'm not home, I can quickly look up info I need.

But, other than that.... my phone supposedly has all these apps (I have the Windows Phone.... Iphone's competitor), but I've never used an App in my life... I don't even really understand what they do. My DH has tried to tell me, but I think it's such a low interest in my book that I jsut don't try to understand. :lmao:

But, my friends (and family) call me a "late bloomer" with technology, so that said, I seem to be a couple years behind everyone else in getting into the newest technologies, so I would not doubt that in a year or two, I might be using the Apps... who knows.... but right now, just not something on my radar. My DH uses them, though, so when we're together, I just let him do the App thing, and that is good enough for me. :)

There are a few Apps for anyone going to WDW before\after the cruise that lets you see ride times, and you can also use GPS to track DW & DK phone's in the park. Very good when you expect to meet them. Though these apps can at times drain the battery.

It is awesome to save time when wondering what the lines are like in other areas. Better than walking across the park to find to find out there is a 90 min line. :headache:

Anyone who has never been to Disney in Nov. There are rarely long lines though...:woohoo:

I love going to WDw in the winter months. Never crowded accept right at Christmas. At that time Hollywood studios gets extremely busy.

Kathy,
my family doesn't consider me a late bloomer when it comes to new technology. They call me a dinosaur, extinct!!:rotfl2:
Problem is they are right.

Karen, you mentioned the countdown has started. Ours has too! We have a dry erase board that we made a castle overlay for that we keep a countdown for upcoming trips on. (Yes, we're bad, Mom and I don't like to leave on a trip without knowing the next one at least has dates and destination set!) However, week after next comes the big day - at 30 days, Mom gets to start wearing here countdown panties!

My aunt Eve made a set for her - she did iron ons of Disney characters, each one with a different number (1 through 30) on it, kind of like the day-of-the-week panties they sell for little kids.

Michelle,
Your list has been sent. Please let me know if it didnt show up.;)

Hi everyone,
I finally got things all done for the day. Now I can relax the rest of the evening.

Hope all of you had a great weekend.

We had our first rain today after weeks of no rain. I am sorry to see summer go, but at least we have the cruise to look forward to.:woohoo:

In trying to figure out where we will get off the ship and where the rental car locations. I came across the port schedule for our day a St. Thomas. Thought some of you might like to know how busy the port will be. Six ships the same day as us.

(WICO) - West Indian Company Dock
(CB) - Crown Bay Dock

Wednesday 11/09/11
Carnival Glory WICO, St. Thomas
Disney Magic CB, St. Thomas
Eurodam CB, St. Thomas
Freedom of the Seas WICO, St. Thomas
Norwegian Epic WICO, St. Thomas

link to the port http://www.havefunwithus.net/resources/CrownBayDockSt-ThomasVirginIslands.html

Tim,

We have been there a few times with 6 ships in port. People get so spread out with excursions and shopping that it never seemed extra busy to me. But traffic can still get really backed up after around 2 P.M. on all the islands.
I havnt a clue where a car rental place is at. Sorry.

I was planning on Havensight or tendering to downtown, but didn't know that Crown Bay existed. We were last there in '05, read that in '06 they converted a old sub base into crown bay. I may switch to the Airport rental car location since it is closer and I have read that Havensight has been running out of cars even for those with a reservation. There will be 4 ships at Havensight. The Airport might be a better alternative. We generally use AVIS, but is seems that only Hertz will pick you up. I will have to find out tomorrow.

I down loaded that app, it looks really cool! I just have not had a chance to use it, yet:sad2:

Tim,
we have never docked at Crown Bay either. But I believe it is about 1 1/2 miles from Havensite mall which is walking distance from the Havensite docks.

Guess it will be a new experience this time for us.

I prefer this to tendering. When we tender many with small kids or people who need wheel chairs either have a hard time getting off the ship or cant get off at all.

Good night all,

Kathy

My recording of Disney Dreams just started playing on my iPod! It's not that much longer until we get to see it in person!!!

Looks liek we will have rain to day and tomorrow, then sunny with 70 degrees after that.
Wish I could send some of our rain to Texas.
I'm sure Kathy in Seattle could spare some too this winter. People in the Northwest get wrinkle tans in the winter from all the rain.:lmao:

Kathy (Gma): We will be doing the St. John's tour as well. We decided on the early time, 8ish. Maybe you will be on that one too. If so, I know I can spot you and get your advice about returning to the island after lunch and going to the mall. I'm taking your previous advice and returning to the ship for lunch (if we even need to eat).

Thanks for all your info!!!! :wizard:

Looks like Mickey's Amazing Group of Island Cruisers is winning the group name poll.......:cheer2: :grouphug:

Yep,
we will be on the same excursion. :thumbsup2
There is one morning and one afternoon excursion and we also have the morning one.

We will be close to the mall (about 1 1/2 miles) so easy to return to it after lunch.

Happy Fun Day Monday! Hope everyones weekend went well. Can't to hear the official announcement on the group name. It is nice and sunny here about 23 out today, i think rain might be in our forecast as well tomorrow. Might go for a walk at lunch and enjoy the weather!
