November 26, 2005/ 7 day Eastern Magic

DW and I are going to be late seating as well. We had this on our last cruise, and chose it this time. Just seemed to make things work a little better for both of us.

I have also requested the PLA rotation, so I hope that we will get that as well!

I am going to be SO in need of this vacation. I just found out that I will be on a project that will have me traveling to Charlotte from now through the end of the year. So, I will come home from work to leave and go on a vacation. Sounds kinda strange, doesn't it?

Have a great week all!

Looks like we chose the popular late seating for this cruise. We did early seating on the last cruise b/c we were with my extended family with small children. However, it just seemed too early for us. We often eat late (just ordered a pizza and it's nearly 7 PM . . .LOL). My kids are a bit older (8 & 11 yo) so they'll be just fine. With all the food on board they will be snacking day and night anyway :mickeybar

I can see where late seating will be beneficial if you're spending time on the islands, too.

Happy traveling, Tigger :) You will definiately deserve a vacation when the time arrives

Hmmm I hope that I don't regret my decision for early dining. At first, we were going to go with the late seating since we are on Mountain time, but I changed it....I knew about the whole early /late discussion but knew I could always change it on board first thing if I needed to. I am just holding on to it for now. I also requested the PLA rotation....so hopefully same rotation TiggerKing, just different times. (If it were just me and DH we would be on the later dining too!)

Time is passing by too quickly...I have to start going over my tips and packing list....are water shoes really important to take for every member of the family including me?? Where did you use them at?

Hello Everyone! We are scheduled for the early (main) seating. We found from our last cruises that it worked best for us. We enjoy eating our dinner and then going off to the shows. If the boys are tired, we sometimes go back to the room and order a snack from room service for the boys. Usually Mickey Bars :mickeybar or cookies and milk. They never get spoiled like that at home! Then off to bed. Or we have the option to drop them off at their club and we can go out.

Michelle2 - I have always brought watershoes for the whole family including myself. They aren't the most fashionable, but they work out perfect for the shore excursions.

We chose the early seating due some younger children in our group. I am also worried that we will be rushing to dinner. We could barely make it to the shows at 6:30 on our first cruise. But, it is always nice to try something new, so we shall see how it works out.

As we are going on vacation next week, the only thing I am packing right now is camping gear. But when we get back, I am paying off the cruise!!
Then, I will start the countdown until I can make reservations online!

Hello again, I made my first post last spring but the craziness of summer has kept me from spending too much time on the computer. I catch up on the messeges every now and then but no time to post. This cruise will be our first. My dh, myself, dd 12, dd 5, ds 3.

I haven't even had much time to begin to think about the cruise. I'm also kind of afraid if I get too excited about it, once it come it will go by too fast.

Does anyone know of somewhere that has a master list of recommended items to take? I'd have no idea what to be getting. I did buy my younger kids some cheap snorkel gear at Wal Mart. I doubt they'll really want to snorkel but would like to play around with it. They been using it in the pool for fun.

We have looked through the excursion information and really don't want to do any of them. We are looking forward to just having fun without too much of a schedule. Is it possible to just go onto the islands without being part of an excursion. Can we just walk around and site-see on our own? Is it pretty safe? I thought it would be nice to go for a while with the kids and then bring them back to the kids area while dh and I went again alone. Is that possible and is it allowed?

Our travel agent talked us into the late dinner seating. She said it's better so you don't have to rush to be back. We went ahead with that but I decided later to change it because my kids aren't really night people. They tend to be up early and can even get sick if they are kept up too late. So I called and am on a wait list for the early dinner. I do hope it gets changed, but she said we wouldn't know until we got our paper work.

The best news is that my son is finally potty trained. I was beginning to worry that he wouldn't make it. But he has finally stopped with those last few accidents. Now I just need to get him to put his own pants back on before he leave the bathroom, or better yet, not to take them off at all.

Just checking in - haven't been around for a while. We just got back from Disneyland so I had my Disney fix ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo . We chose the early seating and I keep doing back and forth. I was worried DD wouldn't make it through the late one but I'm not sure if the early will make us feel rushed. We have a hotel at the port for the night before but no transporation there yet. Still can't decide if we should do formal night or not. Also, have not decided if we should request a dining rotation and if so, which one. Any ideas? Kids will be just turned 9 and almost 7 if that mattters. We also can't decide on excursions. Might just walk around the islands a bit and find a close beach for the kids to swim. So many decisions still!!! :confused3  . See you all in November!

Hey Boo! Glad you checked in!

I am on my "weekend pass" at home after the first week on the road. I really do love the Charlotte area, but could do without the travel.

I am really getting pumped about the cruise now. I used AmEx Reward Points (one of the few benefits of traveling so much) to purchase a Canon Sureshot 5MP camera for DW. Didn't even have to pay shipping! So, we have been playing with that a little bit since I got back home, and I am really looking forward to using it on the cruise.

Well, I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It is HOT here in Atlanta, and when I go outside, I melt! :rotfl:

Hi,

New to the board, and this thread. I will do my best to catch up, but BOY is this a long one to try to read.

Just an intro for now. Traveling with my husband, daughter (6 on 11/25) and mother (b-day on 12/3). This is our first cruise and I am excited, nervous, and I don’t know what all yet. Our room is 6036.

Look forward to chatting with everyone.

Welcome HaleStrm. Glad to have you aboard with us. DW and I did our first cruise last year (a 4 day) around the same time. You guys will have a blast! Look forward to talking to you more!

Hi everyone,

this is a crowded ship already. My name is Caroline and my dh and three kids are planning are scond trip on the magic. This will also be a family reunion with my brother and sister's kids ,plus my parents. so a total of 15 of us.
Not so large.
I now live in MI, but the reat are coming from LA and Napa valley. And yes, they do disney all the time. Hope to talk with some of you soon, cjmx :earsgirl:

Welcome aboard CJMX. Looks like we are getting more participants on this cruise. I believe there are plans for this group to meet up at 3:00 on 11/26 at the Goofy Pool (someone correct me if I am wrong) to let everyone meet the screen names they see on here!

Sounds great. I am hoping to meet up with some people. I will put in on the calendar.

On another note, I am hoping someone could proof something for me. I have taken all of the tips from " All The Best Tips-Summarized-Part II " and other threads, and have tried to combine them into an Excel workbook. I would love to have someone help me make sure it is clean and that I have gotten rid of all of the dups. Also, if I have missed things get them added. I have tried to catagorize the tips so they are grouped by boarding, food, activities, etc..

Anywho, let me know if you would be willing to help me proof so that I can offer it up to people like me who have diligently been trying to cut and paste and read every post.

Thank!

Caroline - where are you from in Michigan? We're in Novi.

Tiggerking - I'll be celebrating my 40th :scared1: on 11/26 so if we make it to the meet I'll be the old lady with a birthday pin. I guess if you have to turn 40 the best place to do it is on a Disney cruise!

I would be more than happy to help. It will give me something to do in the hotel room while I am on the road for business. I will PM you with my e-mail address.

Hey Boo, I was out of work when I turned 40, so I am sure yours will be much more fun!

We are so ready for our cruise with all of you! We started school on August 1. Well, sort of .. . my 8 yo ds was visiting with his Grandma on the other side of the country (he brought dad along for his driving skills . .LOL). Meanwhile, my soon to be 11 yo ds and I were looking at the Disney Cruise website and getting excited about our trip. It's great motivation to get your school work done when you know you've only got so much to do before going to the DCL :cool1:

Well hope everyone else is enjoying their summer's end. Keep praying the hurricanes leave our islands alone. They just upped the number of expect named storms this year . . .almost double the average . .phew!

Have a great day!

I sure would love to get a copy of that list when you get it done, halestrm and Tiggerking. I printed out a list, but there is alot of duplicates and not categorized etc. Sounds like yours will be alot more managable.

Welcome halestrm and cjmx! It is also nice to see posts from others when it has been awhile...I think now that the time is getting closer, the more everyone is thinking about the cruise and getting excited. I myself, am getting a little overwhelmed....but I will live. :rotfl:

I am so glad came upon this board through another website link. We will be joining you all on our first Disney cruise aboard the Magic 11/26/05. We have cruised many times on Carnival, but I am a total Disney fanatic and the price was just too good to pass up. Besides myself, there will be my DH, DS (13) and DD (3). The kids are so excited. We got the DCL planning DVD and watch it all the time. My son, Tony is really looking forward to The Stack and hanging out with other kids his age. My baby, Audrey, can't wait to dress up as a different princess everyday. I am hoping she will enjoy the Oceaneers Club, as we had a hard time getting her to go to Camp Carnival on our last cruise. Anyone know if there might be a meet and greet? Looking forward to sailing with the Mouse in less than 4 months!

Welcome momoftwodisneykids! The meet is scheduled for 3:00 by the Goofy Pool.
