NOVEMBER 2012 Trip Planners Thread~ Everybody is Welcome~Part 3 already!

We are a family of 7 from Nova Scotia, Canada travelling to Disney Oct 28 - Nov 11 and we will be staying offsite. We are attending the MNSSHP on Oct 30 and the MVMCP on Nov 9 which is also the day we will be celebrating my DSD 23rd birthday.

Our week was blacked out of free dining-I had a feeling since it was Jersey week. So I switched our res. to check in Nov 1 so we could get free dining. Luckily the Cars suite at AoA was available. However, we are only saving around $300 because the value resorts only get quick service dining. We prefer the regular dining plan, so with the upgrade it's not saving a whole lot. The only way FD is going to save us big money is if we switch to a moderate, and I just can't see that happening. We were very comfortable in the ASMu suite when we went, and can't imagine sharing a tiny room with our boys for 6 nights. We definitely saved $ by having the mini kitchen in our suite and eating breakfast there most days. Plus, my mom was considering joining us so we definitely need the suite. Ugh! We were on the fence about cancelling the trip due to money being tight but wanted to wait until the fall offers came out. Looks like we are leaning toward cancelling, but our final payment isn't due until Sept. 20. I'm very sad, but we will try again for spring. I hate to pull the kids out of school for more than a few days, but it is what it is. I will hope for a good PIN for spring. We went in early May in 2011 and loved it. We walked onto almost every ride. So long story short...we are technically still booked for Nov 1 for now, but probably not going I'm SO glad we didn't tell the kids yet!

So sorry you may have to cancel! That would be so devastating! I know Spring seems so far away, but look at all the time you'll have to save up for your fabulous trip! Best of luck to you!

ETA: I understand the quick service being offered with value, but I think it should be regular dining plan for people staying in the suites since the price is comparable to a room in a deluxe resort.

Oh that is so hard to have to deal with. I agree with DisneyChic that at least you'll have a longer time to save and also there will be more stuff open in the new Fantasyland. Like BOG will def be open as opposed to just hoping it will be open in time! Good lucke with everything!!

I have to echo the sentiments here as well. I am so happy I found this site and to have met all of you here. I have learned so many new things and have truly felt a warm sense of friendship here. I like the fact that we CAN ask a stupid question and not feel bad about it. I too will miss the conversation post November but also hoping we too can have another thread to talk about all of our amazing trips that we had.

I hope too that the announcment will be made today, here's hoping for some great news and some of that magical pixie dust!!

It would be great if it were BOG. But I'm still wondering about more discounts. I just don't think the numbers are were Disney wants them as far as attendance goes. But who knows.

We were going to be arriving on the 15th, but we got such a cheap flight we ended up booking for the 14th. Now we are doing 1 night at POR Royal Room and then moving to the Beach Club and then AKV. 10 nights and 11 days. That's 3 nights longer than last time. Maybe we will actually get everything done.

You know I always kind of cringe when I think of staying at a Disney resort with cheerleaders. My daughter cheered on a traveling competition squad for 5 years. And we always stayed in a hotel pretty much booked out with other squads. Lets just say it wasn't always pretty. And the moms could be just as bad or worse than the kids. I do have to say that our squad was contained. Our girls new if rules weren't followed that it very well could have been their last competition.

I got excited and jumped the gun! I hope they increase the hours after Thanksgiving, or at least add some more MSEP or Fantasmic shows. That would make our schedule flow much better!

Last year they werent at POR because it was being refurbed.... not sure which mod itll be BUT it will def be a value! Lets pray it wont be POR!!!!
