November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Hi Jessica, I have 2 boys with varying degrees of autism (oldest is 13 & has Aspergers, youngest is 11 & has moderate ASD). We first took the boys when they were 4 & 2 1/2, and newly diagnosed. We have been back 10 times:) because Disney is outstanding at helping make EVERY guest have a magical visit. Please feel free to send me a private message if you have any specific questions. I am going to post a link to a great blog on dining with spectrum children at WDW.

I am happy to provide tips or info if I know what you are wondering about. I love helping with Disney trips:).

Thank you! My son actually does well at restaurants. We go regularly because he loves it so much (he enjoys eating). I'm more worried about rides as he enjoys them but tends to cry a lot when they are over and needs to get off. I also dont know how well he is going to do waiting for everything.

Thank Lois! I wasn't sure about Boma - heard great things as far as a AK experience but didn't know about the food. Since we got 'Ohana, maybe we'll let Kona go and do AK that day.

The info about ME is really helpful. I am going to keep trying to get a different Akershus ressie, but I know it would start off our Week O' Disney on a great note. Maybe if I called they could push us back just a bit?? Decisions, decisions......

18 days - wheeeeee!

What time is your flight coming into MCO?

about online check in, does that mean your room is ready if you get there early? What are the chances of getting a request once you get there? Is ti better for 1st timer to check in at hotel and skip online??

I don't think online check-in effects whether you get your requests or not. I've been doing online check-in since they started it and I have never gotten a room request granted. I think the only factor for room requests is availability.

Woohoo! Got a nice quarterly bonus just in time for the trip! :cool1:

We were discussing this on another thread I'm on and I was wondering about all of you. Namely, what do you do for Thanksgiving? Do you cook? go to relative's? Will you be in Disney??? Give us the details!

In our family, my Mom and I switched roles years ago, so she makes the pies and I make the dinner. Three of our four children live out of state and two of those and their families are coming to Ohio for TG. Our DS who lives in Ohio is coming this year as well. We get the kids every other year for Christmas and the opposite year for TG. DH will be smoking a small turkey on his manly, state of the art, grill, while I do the traditional turkey with dressing in the oven. Sometimes my sister from Texas comes, but not this year.

Then 6 days later...we'll be at DISNEY!!!

We will be waking up in a hotel at the airport to travel to Disney on Thanksgiving day this year. :cheer2::cheer2:

Usually I just cook whatever we are in the mood for on Thanksgiving because we have had our turkey with family by then or we just go out.

I checked in online this morning and just booked a stretch limo (8 pass.) from Happy Limo for our transfer from MCO to AoA and then back to MCO.

Today I am going to make a spreadsheet with all of our ADRs and confirmation numbers so I have them all in one spot.

I already have the girls suitcases packed... H & I will pack the night before... and we STILL have to hammer down exactly HOW we are going to tell them about the trip :confused3

In the homestretch now... only a few more ((very busy)) days to go...:cool1:

Hi guys! Just checking in...trying to get to the store tonight to grab somethings in case we get hit by Sandy! All our trips are close!!

Its is getting so close for all of us! 1 month for us!!!!!!:yay: I can't believe it. I'm going to try packing some more today. Yesterday ds6 turned 1. A year goes too fast.

What is everyone's thoughts about on line check in?

I've never done it before but will be trying it for POR because we have no requests but not for AoA because we'll check in at 8 but don't need the room until about 7 at night and I really want top floor facing the lake.

We did it last time and the line was shorter than the regular check in. We did not get our requests but I was fine with that. We will being doing it again this year. Its just fun to do! Ha Ha! Our flight is 6:15 am so I doubt our room will be ready when we get there. We want to try to go right to a park anyway.

so i have transportation questions. If i want to make rp from aoa what time should i be at the bus stop?

We are usually at the bus stop an hour before park opening.

Woohoo! Got a nice quarterly bonus just in time for the trip! :cool1:

:yay:

25 days!! Hopefully finishing all our sewing today, already halfway through my to-do list for today just have to finish my new camera strap and my daughters dress. Feeling pretty good about that. Now I have to go to the store and stock up for this crazy "frankenstorm" YAY!!!... Just kidding not fun at all, everyone in my town seems to go crazy and go to the store at the same time, may hit the 24 hour Walmart late tonight. Have to vent, finally was able to get the Kelly Moore camera bag I have been saving up for and decided to take other people's advice and get a grey one instead of black. Well I did not like the grey when it came in yesterday at all, so now there is a chance the bag won't be back for our trip. Hopefully everything works out in my favor and it gets shipped there quickly and they can send out the new one right away. I should have went with my first choice but wanted to be different, oh well you live and you learn I guess. Life could be a lot worse i suppose and I try to remember that daily. I did my good deed of the day and passed off some sesame place tickets we can't use because of birthday parties and church events. Have a great weekend everyone!

Is booking a limo better than magical express?
