November 2012 Code Watch!!

I'm getting concerned. For the past two years, I have received PIN codes at least twice in February that covers a November stay, our usual trip time, usually the 25/30/35% off room type. (I save these in an email folder.) This year in February? NONE. Uh-oh?!

Happy mom- so funny, my hubby works right off MacArthur and 114! I think your plan sounds good. There is a blue goose in Frisco and one right up the street from me in Plano (I live near Park/Preston area). I don't know if there is one in Grapevine, but I don't go over that way much. There are a ton of restaurants around the mall too. There is a cracker barrell over there too i think. Oh, just thought of one- in downtown grapevine, on the main street is a place called Wilhoites- it is a really cool old place inside and great brunch.

Hmmm I wonder what park would be least crowded on Thanksgiving day?
I would say AK is usually the least busy on a holiday. Or skip the parks and hit mini golf, the pool or resort hop and have a nice meal.

I booked by telephone about a month ago for the week after Thanksgiving. Do ya'll think that ruins my chances of getting a pin? Should I cancel my reservation for now just to see? I did all the "tricks" and my husband got a free dining pin but its only good until end of June. He got that pin before I booked. I got a Disney Destinations email today and got all excited but it was just a suggestions for you on your upcoming trip. Now I am second guessing myself for making reservations so early.
I doubt it would make any difference at all- i don't know that they base it on reservations necessarily and if you've already done all the tricks online, then that is probably all you can do for now.

OMGosh! I cant keep up with all the newbies! A big :welcome: to everyone. I need names, dates and places you are staying to be able to add you to the list if you want too...LMK! I am sorry Iv been away! Little thing called 'life' keeps coming between me and the DIS! We are now trying to redo our upstairs bathroom and the the windows get put in on monday so I might not be around much til everything settles.

Welcome, newcomers! This thread has just gotten way too busy for me to keep up with posting, but I've been reading faithfully.

I apologize for yet another question, but I promised DH I would ask you experts. This is re: the possibility of free dining for a Thanksgiving trip if you check-in by the Thursday before....

If we change our reservation to check in on Thursday 11/15 instead of Saturday 11/17, and free dining does not happen, can we change our ressie back to checking in on Saturday without any penalty/repercussion? I want to change to Thursday, but DH thinks we'll get screwed out of money somehow. We really cannot afford two extra days at Yacht Club if there is no free dining......

Advice please! And THANKS!

I believe, as long as you check in on a day free dining is offered, you are allowed to have FD for up to 10 days of your stay. It certainly wouldn't hurt for you to add more days to your reservation. Just be sure to make any final changes before you 45 day mark.

I get so much use out of Touring Plans, I think it's well worth the expense!

Also, Tour Guide Mike has been in the parks the last few weeks, so I think his site will be getting some much needed updating. I think he said he's working on touring plans with young kids during Holiday weeks... right up my alley for sure!

I sure hope TGM updates his site. I have been very disappointed with it.

I books months ago, then cancelled months ago because I thought it would increase my chances of getting a PIN. It didn't! :sad2: :confused3

Small world! Thanks a bunch! :goodvibes

Just checked TPs and crowd calendar estimates for Thanksgiving are showing Epcot as the Best Park. Also checked 2011 dates and Epcot was also listed as Best Park on Thanksgiving Day. This will probably change a dozen times before November gets here though.

:thumbsup2 thanks I had Epcot as my day

here is what I got so far, hoping the rest of my days I've picked will be the lightest, because last time I went in September crowds were AWFUL I just couldn't believe it because it was so so so light all the other Septembers we went

15th Thursday = MK? (have a? because one site said this day was heavy for
MK and the other said lightest??)
16th Friday = MGM
17th Saturday = Epcot
18th Sunday = Animal Kingdom
19th Monday = MGM
20th Tuesday = Magic Kingdom
21th Wednesday = Animal Kingdom
22th Thursday = Epcot

of course may change once I get Disney's schedule, we missed Fantasmic last time because of the crowds and I was so so so dissapointed, not missing it this time I don't care if I have to wait 2 hours in line or not!

I know I am behind in this discussion,..I missed a day!:rotfl: Y'all were busy yesterday!! For TGM...I used his site 2 times with pretty good results--a lot of the info I already knew, but loved having his suggestions back me up on what I had planned, or help me decide on a few tricky days. Last year:sad2: not so good. His sister died, so he was waaay behind, we all felt bad for him-people that work with him, or that he contacts kept coming back and saying how sorry he was and that his family was all upset--it was a sudden thing they werent expecting I think...ok..then he got the flu or something...and it was WEEKS going by and nothing was happening we just kept getting the repeated message (I paraphrase here): Mike is so sorry, he is working nonstop to get your best park days updated and to you so those of you going in November can make your ADRs next week. Well, I can't tell you how many times we got that message and guess what...our time frame came--and went and nothing. So, I emailed and asked for a refund..I was very disappointed, and he never said anything there or on the FB site that I can remember about what/when he actually planned to have the updates ready-if someone would have said "hey, this is NOT gonna be ready for yall, make your adrs to the best of your ability" i would have been much happier than them stringing us along not knowing what was going to happen!
Also, none of the major things had been updated for quite a long time, like a few years! I hope this year he has all the updates he has been promising- I know on other threads it was a major discussion because everyone was paying for an upgrade and not getting it...

I booked Nov 11-17 at the Boardwalk. We'll catch the last 2 days of F&W.
I would really rather have the bigger room discount then free dining.

hmmm where to eat for Thanksgiving day???

We'll be in Animal Kingdom and Epcot on the same days, LaDonna! I have also been wondering about our Thanksgiving meal! I think we'll go with Biergarten - it sounds like fun to share big communal tables on Thanksgiving day, and I've always wanted to try it. If I wasn't avoiding Credit Card Guarantees, we'd probably do Garden Grill. It's supposed to be really nice on Thanksgiving.

We used TGM for the first time in 2010, and it really helped. We used both TGM and TP together, since I'm an uber-planner! Last year, we went to Disneyland instead, so I had no idea the whole thing got so screwed up! Although I also lost a sibling last year unexpectedly, so I can understand how things were for him, and I'm glad to see he's back in the parks. I would have been really upset to not get a refund, though! Pretty unacceptable.

I follow him on Twitter, and he is working on adjusting his touring plans to remove Late Fast Passes and things, so anyone who subscribes this year should have access to timely new information. I haven't joined yet, but I will. I usually chose TGM's best parks over Touring Plans because we like going to Extra Magic Hours. (But I still use the Touring Plans website a TON. It's great.)

I finally got through to Disney to make my Poly room request, and I'm so excited! I went with a balcony room in Fiji. It should work well for us, since we won't probably be using the TTC and I'll enjoy the nice view! I also had him check for PINS. I was lucky again and had a free dining PIN, but it was for the same dates as the new Visa FD offer. I just got the Planning DVD two days ago, so I think the PIN was probably associated with that.

I'm glad to see offers rolling along - means our trips are getting closer!

if my boss will give me the extra days off :scared:we are going to drive rahter than fly. It will mean quite a bit of time in the car but its do able, over two days each way. Even with the price of gass it will save money since we would have the cost of flights and a rental car for the entire trip. My son will be disappointed because he is so eager to get on an airplane but he'll adjust.

Just want to clarify, because my post got rambly!! I TOTALLY felt awful for him concerning his sister...that wasn't my gripe...it was after he got sick and then wouldn't make a statement other than 'He is working really hard"...after several times it got to the point I was questioning if he was doing anything at all--lots of people were getting kinda frantic! LOL! Especially those who had never been and were totally relying on his site--And I did get refunded..it was very prompt too.
I also like touring plans...I try to avoid EMH unless I just can't--I too am a super planner--i am already lining up park days in my head!:rotfl:

A friend of mine is going in Sept and they just got FREE DINING for their trip--she booked it today!! She said hers was Disney Visa and GP would be available soon-maybe next week or so..
So,..hopefully ours will be coming soon!!! (Well, in the next couple of months anyway!LOL!! )

Hi all,
We are booked for 11/7-11/12- Jersey Week at the Poly. I agree with you Muffycat- I would rather have a room only discount than free dining. Does anyone else think this. My thinking is that we eat on the run- I rarely make ADR. We usually go in Nov and graze our way around the Food and Wine Festival for a couple of our meals. I never really felt the dining plan would be a value for us. After booking the Poly, I really want a discount. Have NEVER received a pin and we have been to both WDW and DL at least a dozen times each. Any hints on getting one?
Thanks so much and Happy March 1st- another month closer to November!

All depends on your family.....I have 5 people, me, dh, and soon to be 14, 13, and 5 yr old, even my 5 yr old eats a lot, and we'd have to have at least one regular size dinner, we don't do much grazing here :) And to me leaving the parks to go back to the room and make something or go off site is a big drag, we like to stay in the parks all day. So with our food costs and family size we can only afford to stay on site if we get free dining. Even a 30% room discount would only save us about $60 a day, which will not feed our family in the park each day, plus we wouldn't get to do all the cool and expensive character meals etc. If they don't offer free dining we'll be looking at staying offsite.

hmmm where to eat for Thanksgiving day???
Since you'll be at Epcot- my favorites would be Le Cellier (probably insanely popular for T-day), Chefs De France, and the character meal at the Land (Garden Grill) will probably have more Thanksgiving type food!

Nov 10-17th
Of course waiting on FD and we may have to move our dates around.
Yeah- we are there the same dates!

We are hoping to catch F&W too- planning to come in Thursday night the 8th and hit it on the am on the 9th and 11th. :thumbsup2

Ugh- i hate driving. I've done the drive many times as a kid and then as an adult when I had to drive down there for the college program (kept my car down there). Well I'll hope that prices for flights will magically go down, for all of us!!!! The drive can be fun though too!

If you aren't a big table meal person, then free dining isn't as great of a deal vs the room discount. If you do like doing a sit down each day, then FD might be better. It just depends- plus the mix of your party, if you have folks that don't eat a ton etc. Be sure you are registered on the disney site- order the free DVD, custom maps, play with book a trip/itinerary tool and have some 'saved trips' in there.

November 17-24 is our dates at ASMo, I dont see us listed on the first post.
Yeah! ;)

FREE DINING- saw this on FB from a TA friend, hopefully it means November is not far behind for you guys!!!!
Just a quick post to let all of you know that free dining is here. It’s just for Disney Visa cardholders today, but the Disney Visa site is saying it will be offered to EVERYONE on May 5. Here are the details for Disney Visa cardholders:
