Okay, so we're going the second full week of November 2012, checking in the 10th, checking out on the 17th. We have an abnormal group by Disney hotel standards... there's me and my DH, my sister and her boyfriend and my niece, and my mom. So five adults (two couples and one senior citizen) and my niece who will be four at that time. Because of our group size, and because we can't afford a Disney villa, I have determined that it only makes sense for us to stay in a Disney hotel if there's a significant promotion of some kind, such as 35% off or free dining. But since we won't know that until probably August 2012, here's my plan...

We make room-only reservations at Pop (where we want to stay). Since that is (to my understanding) fully refundable up until five days before or so, this should be okay. We wait patiently (or not) for promos/discounts. If we haven't heard of any by September, we call our Bonnet Creek guy and see if he still has availability. If he does, we book with him, cancel our Disney reservations for 100% refund. If he doesn't, we stay at Pop and just try to be as frugal as we can with food planning. If there are promos, we upgrade to the package to get it (assuming there's still availability).

Does that sound like it would work? I know we run the risk of there not being rooms left at Bonnet Creek. It wouldn't be the end of the world. It's just that we'll have so much more space there. I just really want free dining for the freedom of it.

With the room only ressie, you cant switch it to a package if FD is offered. You would have to get that room only ressie refunded and make a new package reservation. I am currently planning a GG for 17ppl! We will have me, DH, my 3 DD's, Mom, Dad, Brother, Grandmom, Poppop, my friend, her DH, her 2 DD's and her mom,and brothers GF and her son. SO I know how stressful it is waiting for a PIN. My suggestion is book a package with room and tix(or atleast one day tix) if FD is offered, simply add it with you tix, if its not, its fully refundable up to 45 days before hand. If FD comes out, we should know sometime around August or September. HTH! I kist dont want you to be stuck with a room only and NOT be able to get FD.

Really?? I thought I read somewhere on DIS that you could upgrade a room-only reservation as long as there was package availability left. And I thought that package availability was a requirement even for people that already had packages. In other words, that you could have a package and theoretically NOT get free dining because they already signed up all the people - if you were slow to call about it.

So get this, I got a call from State Farm today, there will be an adjuster contacting me within the next couple weeks!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?! COuple weeks? I explained to her that I run a daycare out of my house and had to close today, do you think they care...nope! She said there are many claims in my area-I am aware of this. No I dont think I am more important than the next person, but I just think its reduculous! Sorry for my vent I am just sad

Well yes, if there are packages left, you can get FD BUT if you have a room only, you cant upgrade to a package, they would have to make you a new reservation...it might still work though but I thought I read that ey are two different reservations. I learned that when FD came out this time around

I have read that there are insurance adjusters that are independent... any chance you could get one of them to come out sooner? Or offer that as an option to State Farm? They usually want their own people, but under the busy circumstances, can't hurt to try.

Have you thought about checking into the arts of animation resort? I know they are starting to book at least some catagories for next year.

I would try to go ahead and book where you feel comfortable doing so now. And then work with tweaking as the trip gets closer. Right now both of my upcoming trips are at POFQ. We always stay at the WL. This will be our first trip staying elsewhere. But we just can't justify the cost right now. This years trip I managed to get in with free dining. But if a room discount becomes available between now and next years trip. We will be moving to the WL if I can get us in. So....long story short. Book what is comfortable and hope for the best.

You can book room only 1st if you like. That's what I do. I book room only way in advance. Then when a disc code comes out closer to traveling date, I book a package. Then I cancel the room only for a full refund. Just make sure you book the package b4 you cancel your room only ressie.

Hello all! I got an update: i talked to the daycare inspector, she temporary aproved my upstairs bathroom so I could atleast open YAY!!! Atleast some problems are getting resolved but now I have a major toothache....ack!!! I am having some baaad luck this week!

Ok so things are still looking rough but I am making it through and keep thinking that I cant wait for December so I can go on my mini vaca!

Things to do:
Upstairs bathroom temporarily approved so I can make money-
Dentist to fix tooth
Talked to insurance agent
waiting to hear from adjuster
get an estimate done for house repairs
still have enough money for disney

So all in all a productive day....still hoping that hurricane in Puerto Rico comes nowhere near us! At this point, we dont even want it to rain

On another note, I have only one more small payment then disney will be paid off-well it was paid off til DH upgraded us to POR and Park Hoppers(cheaper than adding a third park day)

Hi everyone! Hope you don't mind my popping in here. I was wondering if there was anything here for November 2012 yet and, to my surprise, there's already 19 pages. And I just read all 19 pages.

We are going November 17-24. Yes, Thanksgiving week. Crazy, but we did it this past year also, and LOVED it. So, we must go back again. We will be staying at POR again.

Hmm, after reading 19 pages, I'm seeing a little cross-eyed, plus it's late and getting up for work comes too quickly... glad to find people as excited as I am about our November 2012 trips!

I am trying to figure out when all of the decorations will be up. My dbf and I would love to see all of the decorations. She has not been there in about 20 years. I was at disney in May of this year, would not go in may again. It was 97 almost everyday and we were there for 2 weeks at pop. Made me sick being that hot. I was thinking of the week after thanksgiving or the first full week in Dec. I need some suggestions. We will be staying at pop unless I get a good pin or discount on a mod, then it will be port orleans.

You have to keep your trip. If you are like me its the having something to focus on that will help to keep you sane through all this other stuff.

You'll have to give us more tid bits about being in Disney for Thanksgiving. We always go just after. Crowds have been steadily increasing that weel the last few years. But it is still a great time to go.

Well, as I just said in the above post the week just after Thanksgiving is our favorite time to go. The decorations are up. And the Magic Kingdom is sooooooooo beautiful. And no matter where you stay, you will have an awesome time.

I am glad I am not the only one looking for the best deal for Nov 2012. We are going Nov 9th-17th 2012 . We are staying at Aoa Loin King suites . Does anyone think AOA will be included in any promo. We could stay at POR( for less ) trundle bed makes me nerves..

I think that resort is going to be lots of fun. I don't see why it wouldn't be included in any promo's.
