Hi everyone! Sorry to say I am leaving you all, my daughter decided over the weekend that she wants to go in December instead! So I'll be jumping ship to the December 2012 thread! We've decided to add a cruise to our WDW stay, so lots of planning ahead! Music to my ears! :rotfl:

You can always pop in and say hello. :goodvibes

:goodvibes Good evening all...our trip will begin on 11/11/12 to the 18th. I can't wait and getting really excited. I posted at the beginning of this thread but not since.

Lot of fun here but have a ? It is about free dining...you would think that after all of our visits I would know how this works. But sadly:confused: I don't. Should I visit another thread to find out how this works???

Is it really worth it to pay full price to get it ? Oh we will be celebrating our 50th and what a better place to go than WDW. Thanks:love:

Hi. :goodvibes I can't think of a better place to celebrate your 50th anniversary. We will be celebrating our 30th. :lovestruc

We have either paid out of pocket or had free dining. (free is the only way we have used it) You need to sit down and figure out your dining needs to see if paying out of pocket would be worth it for you. How many TS meals do you want to eat each day? If you really want to get into planning you could figure out your meals and snacks each day and then go to each resturants menus and price out each meal. Don't forget to add in your tip. This way you can see how much out of pocket is verses buying a plan. I know some really love the dining plan and some not so much. (Hubby and I are in the not so much boat.:upsidedow)

We'll be happy to answer any questions you have. Smileybug gave a good answer. I'll just add the following...

Some feel the dining plan forces them to eat more than they normally would and therefore doesn't really save them money. Others (DH & I included) like that everything (except tips) are paid for before we leave home, and we have the freedom to order whatever we want without worrying about the price. We enjoyed having the deluxe meal plan with 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. A bottle of water counts as a snack. We have small children so I wanted to be sure we had set meal times, and kept them on their same schedule. We had two sit down meals a day with ADRs, and a quick service meal. We also did a lot of character meals. We decided we'd rather eat while the characters came to us than stand in line to meet them in the parks. Did we eat more than we would have otherwise? Absolutely!! But we loved it!

If free dining is offered, the plan you get depends on whether you stay at a value or moderate/deluxe. Values get the quick service plan, Moderate and deluxe get the regular dining plan. You can pay the difference to upgrade from any of them to the deluxe plan or from the quick service to the regular. Allears.net has a great page with all the information and pricing. I agree with Smileybug, you really need to sit down and think about what your plans are, what your touring style is, what restaurants you want to go to, and even look at the some of the menus and prices you might pay OOP.

Hope this helps. :santa:

Well, we decided to change our dates, but are staying in November. :cool1: We are going to go Nov 10th - 18th. We'll arrive on the 11th. With Veteran's day and the Thanksgiving holidays, I can take 7 days off work and get two full weeks off!! You can't beat that!! :woohoo: It will give the kids a whole week to rest before returning to school.

I still have to officially change our ressies, but will probably wait til the weekend.

 My thanks to Smileybug and Happy Mom2...that is just what I will do about figuring out what to do about the dining plans. We will be staying at the POP so would probably have to upgrade the plan.
Sooo confusing ....but will be sitting down tomorrow to figure a few things out. Thank you so much for helping me and I did find another thread that I was reading about the dining plans also.

Getting excited waiting for next Nov. Hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I've never done the desert party. I'm really looking forward to hearing about that. Maybe it will be put on my to do list for next year.:thumbsup2 You'll come back feeling refreshed to. You have had alot going on the last few months. The break will be good for you and your hubby. :goodvibes

Yes it will! And yes we have! BTW-loooove your new ticker :cloud9:

I hope y'all had great Thanksgivings. Ours was good until Friday afternoon. I had bought a pecan, pumpkin, cherry, and coconut meringue pies from my favorite pir shop. I had started feeling sick at the beginning of the week. By Friday afternoon, I put myself into a NyQuil sleep. I only got 1 slice of pie. :( Oh well.

I hope everyone's planning is going good. School is keeping me so busy that I haven't done much planning. I did buy a new Fujifilm S3280 (I think was the number) digital camera with 24X optical zoom for the trip on Black Friday. Plus I'm thinking about moving our trip dates again. The November trip will have us there over our oldest DS's 15th bday. I know if we are there for his 15th bday, our youngest will expect to go for his. If we can't take him, I can see problems. My thinking is to move the trip to December, so it's halfway between their birthdays. Plus, we will get to see more Christmas stuff. The only downside is that it would move the trip back a few weeks.

You are welcome. The DIS helped make our 1st trip the success it was.

I've kind of put a hold on the planning. Since I'm having surgery in January, I decided to just hold off until then. I'll need something to occupy me while I'm recovering. :rolleyes1 Is it bad that I'm actually looking forward to it? :confused3

Yay!!! for the new camera!! :yay: :yay:

Apparently, I will be starting tomorrow morning at 8:10am:thumbsup2

Yep, I was woken up by DH's snoring but then I couldn't go back to sleep because I just kept thinking about the work situation. Turns out I will be starting tomorrow morning.

How's the new job going? I hope you're loving it! Sorry about DH's snoring waking you up. I've taken to putting cotton in my ears and taking 2 Benadryl. Then I don't care about DH's snoring! (usually!):lmao:

I am super excited right now! DH told me tonight that he wants to spend 10 days at WDW for our next trip! YAY!!! The longest we've stayed was 8 days & he said he never wanted to stay that long again, so I am surprised. His only contingency was that we have 2 non park days to break up the trip & enjoy the resort. Fine with me!
So this has motivated me to book tomorrow b4 he changes his mind (which he usually does!).

Yay! How wonderful! I hope you booked it. I'm trying to talk DH into 8 days instead of 7 and the deluxe dining plan, but neither will probably work....

Ohhhh... I feels so good to now be less than 1 year out! So much planning and replanning ahead of all of us! Our next step will be ADRs in May!

Isn't all the planning and rearranging fun?! May 21st for my adrs. :cool1:

You got the perfect info about the dining plan. Oh, I hope to celebrate our 50th there. We honeymooned there and will be there for our 25th in 2014. Looking to 2039 for our 50th! (is there a passing out icon?!)

A week to rest after a week at Disney would be beneficial for anyone!

Can't WAIT to hear all about your trip!:woohoo:

Got to know when to go after those ADR's.

:rotfl: A big event in all our lives!

Thanks!! I am feeling so much better. Now if this nasty cough would just go away and I'ld be back to normal. Well as normal as I get.:lmao:

I hope the surgery isn't anything major. It's not bad at all, I would be looking forward to it just to get it over.

Thanks, it's just that time of year with the crazy Texas weather.
I will. Right now I can't even get the DH to talk about it. I've already changed the resort and dates so many times that he just doesn't want to talk about it.

Hey ya'll. :goodvibes

letthewookiewin....good to see you back. Like everyone else, I hope you are feeling better. :)

Have a great day ya'll. :santa:

Thank you and you have a great day too!!

Just checkin in! Have a great morning!!! :santa:
Well it's not morning anymore, but since I got to take a nap, it ended up being a good one.
My DH jumped out of bed this morning and woke me up with, "hurry up Kim, it's after 9" I normally get up at 7:30 to get the DSs up, and fed, so they can get on the bus at about 8:30. Ok, they missed the bus, I'm feeling medicine heady from the abrubt wake up, so the DSs stay home from school. Then the DH leaves the room and when he gets back, he said that his mom said that it was just 8. WOO HOO 30 mins to get the boys up, dressed and ready for the bus. The DH helps me get them ready. They didn't get their normal sit down breakfast, but I did put them on the bus with 2 slices each of Schwan's microwavable all ready cooked bacon. As soon as they were on the bus, I went back down for a nap. I slept until 10-ish and then started doing school work.
Hopefully later today, I can look at an ADR schedule and talk to DH about the dates for the trip.
