November 2012 Car Rental Deals

Woohoo, no Magical Express for me. I booked through Costco this morning and for my 8 day rental starting on November 2, I got an Intermediate for $147.12. You do have to have a Costco membership card no to book this and they say they can ask to see the card at pickup.

I could have gone a step down to a Compact for $6 less, but at this rate, I think I will splurge. :goodvibes

Boy, this rate is more like the old days, around $18 a day. I have no problem paying that at all.

Now I have to decide if I wish to cancel my Magical Express or let them send the bags to the room. :confused3

:yay::yay: Glad to see you finally got a great rate! My rental with Alamo has been holding for the last few days at $183 (with all taxes and fees) for a Standard, which will give me a Full size. Got 29 days to go. Economy, Compact and Midsize are now cheaper but unless the Midsize would drop dramatically, I'm going to stick with the bigger car. Considering my first reservation was over $500 back in May, I'm very happy!

Advantage has gone down again.

11/10-11/18 for a large car for $138.83. No codes.

Quick question, never used advantage before, however I just put in my dates (11/27-12/8) and the price quoted was $181. This much cheaper than anything I've found so far. (Dollar has been the cheapest for $235). I've read the small print and it says this is including all charges? Is this correct? Am I missing something here? Just want to make sure:confused3

AFAIK, that's all inclusive. If someone here knows better I hope they speak up! I've never used Advantage before either.

We've used MCO Advantage last 3 trips (2011 & 2012). No problem. Total $ quoted on my PC printout is what we got charged. No problem with the cars either; no pressure at counter for addons. We're using them again in Nov.

Need assistance with getting a good deal for:
Economy car is fine,
Nov 2 pick up noon at mco
return
Nov 5, drop at 4pm mco

Any help is appreciated!

I have, Visa, costco, amex if anyone knows of any deals.

Thank you!

:goodvibes

LOSS of USE INS - What insurance company do you guys use to cover this? Our Farm Bureau insurance does not cover this. This spring got it from AAA for $72 for 11 days (loss of use only/other coverage all from Farm B.). AAA uses Allianz Insurance Company; used the AAA code.

Don't need all of the other stuff packaged with travel insurance which raises the price significantly.

I'm still holding on to a Dollar rental for $195 for a midsize. Would rather not use dollar and would also rather a standard or full size car. Not sure its worth the extra $100 for Alamo or worth the extra terms/conditions at dollar?? We love those Alamo kiosks though...;)

Just wondering if there is a reason why you wouldn't want to use Dollar?

I just called my Visa Card today with that question, and I have Loss of Use if I use their card. My Master Card does not cover Loss of Use.

Just a personal preference. :goodvibes: Their policies just seem much more strict - having a gas receipt within 10 miles of drop off, actually having to use a counter and extra time declining add-ons and tolls passes. Alamo means going straight to a kiosk, no line, and never having to talk to anyone. IMHO, it works better for us than any other car rental company. Of course, if National comes close, we'd consider that too since we have emerald aisle.

Thanks, do they enforce the gas receipt???

At MCO we always go to a counter for Advantage. Don't know if there is another option of which we are not aware.

Donna M - thanks so much for that info. Will call my Visa company - may save me $72!! :cool1:

A page or so back, someone mentioned the policies to me and that was the first time I heard them. I looked at their terms myself and it says,

"Gasoline Policy: The renter must refill the gas tank of the vehicle within a 10-mile radius of the rental return facility and present a fuel receipt to avoid a refueling charge unless the renter chooses the prepaid fuel option."

I have also emailed dollar to see if I can get some clarification...OK...now I've gone rental car crazy. :lmao:

In other news, I did get my Alamo reservation down to a even $300 from $313. ;)

Both my Chase Sapphire Visa and Disney Chase Visa cover loss of use and will also cover my deductible for my regular insurance for collision, as long as I use that card for the rental.

This is great to know! :thumbsup2

TwoatDisney - thanks so much for the positive reviews on Advantage! Using them for the first time in November; their rates have been going down daily over the last week :woohoo:
