November 2012 Car Rental Deals

I also booked a minivan with Dollar. Mine is for 9 days @ $312 including all taxes/fees. I got a better price NOT using a code.

I got a better price too not using the City saver thing. I did use this code to save me 10%. 76892 try it and see if you get a lower rate.

Good day, everyone!

Just joined to get in on this conversation!

I'm headed out from 11/3 to 11/10 and I've been scanning several different rental agencies- but not yet booked (waiting for a good deal/finances are right).

Last week, I quoted a great price on an economy car with Enterprise (through USAA) for $180. Today, I went back to check and found that Enterprise has gone back up through the roof! Quite disappointed to say the least. Back to lurking and hoping things go back down, I suppose.

But- then I found this thread and read about Advantage. They've got a really good quote of $130, and I'm thinking about just jumping on that now.

Any advice for this traveller?

If you find something cheap(ish)....book it!!

You can always cancel later, as 90% of rental companies don't even ask for a credit card to hold- You can cancel anytime! I booked quite a few before sticking with the one I have. I keep checking daily and may cancel and rebook again depending on what I find.

I am also using autoslash. That has brought my rate down by $115 since I started!

Thanks for the autoslash tip! What a great site. I have a question though. I currently have them watching my dollar ressie, but also found another good rate through them and grabbed that too. The problem is, I need 2 carseats and as far as I can tell, they aren't added in my quoted price, or are they? I reserved a van through Payless with autoslash and just figured I would check their seat prices and them add that to the total- but their site doesn't seem to offer them anywhere? I guess all I'm asking is- with the need for seats- is my quotes total for real, or should I expect it to be higher at the counter, and if so, how can I estimate that total? Thank you!!

I'm having no luck, my lowest quote is in the 300s with most closer to $400 for a week, 11/23-11/30. Help!

You don't indicate what sort of vehicle you are looking for? A minivan with Budget using travelocity code x474200 and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off is $272 inc taxes. Note coupon is applied when return vehicle.

Sorry, am looking for compact, intermediate etc, something for a family of 3 with luggage.

I think I haven't got the hang of this renting a car thing yet!

I just used those coupons and it gave me $270 before taxes for a mini van. Seriously what am I missing lol

Dollar rates have doubled since a few days ago. The Mini van I got for 249.00 with taxes for a week is now at 500+. :crazy2: You have to check everyday.

Thanks, I'll keep checking and book whenever it seems lower.

Do you want something right at MCO? Are you opposed to one off site, with shuttle? I just found one for those dates at $125 including tax and fees.

Thanks! Just booked with Budget for an economy at $178.66 (the e-coupon didn't appear on the initial booking)

I looked up Advantage on e-Pinions.com- 160 1-star reviews with horrible ratings- did not inspire confidence even though they were cheap.

I'll be keeping an eye out for cheaper rates, but thanks again!

Yes, we prefer something on site, thanks for looking and helping us though :)

Everything seems like it has gone up in the past week - Dollar(almost double from last week), Budget, Advantage (for my dates at least). Alamo has been steady for 4+ weeks, as well as National (to be expected, from my experience). Feeling like a price break/drop is gonna come in the next week.

Hoping for some pixie dust for all of us! pixiedust:

I've been checking rental car prices for the past month or so for the week before thanksgiving. Up until a few days ago, I couldn't find a compact or intermediate sized car for less than $300. Now prices are up around $500!!! :furious: That's crazy, there is no way I'm paying $500 for a car! :rotfl: Hoping prices come down soon, my trip is still 8 weeks away so I'm not going to panic yet, but I am a bit concerned! :crazy2:

This is typical of years past, the deals will eventually show up.

I disagree. While I've never gone to Florida in November, I never wait until this close to book and I've never seen prices so high. I know that there will be some kind of last minute deals with most companies, but this year the prices are just insane. I normally book my car as early as 6 months out and end up through diligence getting a great rate. This year I have 2 okay deals booked, but they still are not what I'd like. If things don't change I'm doing ME this year and saving the money.

I booked this but then I noticed that it said with the 'Wendie' rate you could not use any other coupons. What do you think?
