Just booked with Advantage using a 5% off code (1875232)

Large car Impala or similar

11/1 - 11/12..................$220.15 :thumbsup2

Thanks! I was looking for an Advantage coupon.

I just booked Advantage for 11/2-11/4 and it is giving me an approximate total of $233. That's about what I get on Priceline, so I'm thinking I may just keep it. I am concerned however about the fact that this is an approximate total? Should I be worried about going to pick the car up and suddenly it's way more expensive?

Advantage went down again :thumbsup2 Not by a lot for me, but got my rate from $103 to $96.

Does anyone use autoslash?

The first reservation that I made was a 9 day van for $427. Autoslash has it down to $312 now!

any thoughts?

Autoslash used to be a great way to grab a deal for a car rental (Saved my parents over $350 on a rental in Hawaii!). However, at some point last year or earlier this year, a lot of the companies filed some kind of suit or something (I obviously know nothing about it...) but long story short, they only can book the original reservations for a limited number of companies (lesser known ones, for the most part). You can, however, put your confirmation number in from another site and they will track it. If you google it, I'm sure you can find out much more accurate information. ;)

EDIT: From a Newspaper online ---
This site, which continually checks for lower rates and coupons until your trip date, can be used in one of two ways: You can track the price of a rental booked elsewhere, or you can book directly through Autoslash, which currently works with Payless, Sixt, Fox and E-Z Rent-A-Car, and the site will apply any discounts it finds.

The drawback with the second option is limited inventory. Major companies don't like the idea that Autoslash capitalizes on the fact that consumers can usually change or cancel car reservations at any time without penalty. Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, which includes Hertz and Advantage, recently pulled its inventory from the site, as my colleague Ron Lieber recently reported. Enterprise, which owns National and Alamo, won't let AutoSlash list its cars either."

That said, I have watched my mid-size SUV go from $403 to $261! :)

Thank you for this tip! I just went from $400 (with Alamo) to $250 with Enterprise to $125 with Dollar!

Wow, thanks for the tips on Dollar. I just booked a full-size from Nov 11-17 for $75.85. I didn't put in any other codes, but clicked on the city specials. :cool1:

Did anyone actually book now with hopes the rate will drop, or are you waiting till you get closer.

I booked in aug at around $350, then I booked again the other day at $240...so it went down...dont know were it goes next? maybe you guys ( experts) know???

Started with Alamo and National, both at over $500. Then Alamo went down to $307, now at $290. Somewhere in there I think I got budget at around $270. Now I'm with Dollar at $195. These prices are higher than others on here since I arrive 10/31, which throws off the amazing deal some have found at advantage, and for staying 3 days extra over a week (which some companies charge up to $40/day extra). These prices are for a mid-size, 10/31-11/10.

Oh, and today, the city rate for Dollar for me is $78 more than my lowest quote. So checking rates often is important. Sometimes a good offer is only available for less than 24 hours.
