Does anyone know what time the stores in the Port/Cocoa Beach area start selling beer/wine on Saturday morning? We get in late Friday and are going to try to get to the ship early. I want to get my cooler full!
Thanks

Don't know about liquor sales. :confused3

Use my credit card ALL THE TIME and am likely destined to be idenity-thefted. :earseek:

Fletch88. I have a son who is 11. Most of his friends are girls (he's not very rough and tough). Maybe they can hang out.

Julia--I'd love to have your ability for faux painting. Our house is an old money-pit that could really use that sort of talent.

Hi Maria--I've done the Eastern (not on Disney) and like the Western better. I find it more beachy and less shoppy, which is our preference. After spending money on the cruise, who has money to shop? :rotfl:

Julia,Way to go!I wish I knew how to paint, but neither dh and I have that ability let alone talent!

bhawks9-I know on Sunday's they don't start till noon or 1,but Saturday's I belief you can buy them at any time at least that is the case for sure in Gator Territory.

heart-We are really looking forward to the Western Carribbean. We already have decided to booking online as to which itinerary we will decide while we are onboard.I have heard the beaches on the western are beautiful!

Julia,
We need to meet for a drink (or a specialty coffee in Cove Cafe) so I can pick your brain about faux techniques. I am by no means a professional, just a DIY junkie. :goodvibes I did a faux plaster technique in my kitchen & family room as well as my basement. I used drywall compound and did a two layer color wash over it. Turned out great and its so easy to repair when my kids ding it (which is why I chose the technique to begin with). I also used these great granite crystals mixed with a cobalt blue, that turned out stunning@ I have stenciled, stamped, sponged, ragged on, ragged off, and used a really cool tissue paper technique in one of my bathrooms. My next attempt will be a faux leather in my library. I would love to chat with you about the techniques you do! Glad the business is going well! :cheer2:

Ummmm

Hey all --

Granny -- thanks for the compliment on my dolls! I made one to give to my aunt in the nursing home and she just adores it.

And thanks for all the info on excursions.

I'm not any closer to knowing WHAT to do in Cozumel. My dh really really wants to see Tulum. However NONE of my 3 girls are interested in that. Dragging three teens along on a long and hot tour for $$$$$$ is just not my idea of a good time.

So I'm at a standstill here. I hate to split up the family and I hate to spend the bucks on an excursion that they will probably not like at all. I realize it sounds like there is no solution here!

I'd love to see those photos of Tulum, though. Maybe it might help my girls become more interested in going there.

The Fury Catamaran sounds pretty awesome, too....

So many excursions, so little time :confused3

Hi everyone! I am a newbie to this board and to the Disney cruise line, and basically to cruising in general since dh and I have been on just one cruise -- our honeymoon 12 years ago on the Carnival Fantasy. We really enjoyed that one, although it was too short.

We are booked on Disney Magic for Thanksgiving with our two adorable sons, who will be ages 4 and 5 (he's turning 6 on the ship!) and my wonderful dad and fabulous step-mom. Needless to say, we are SOOOO excited! I have already informed my dh that I will now need to go on at least one cruise per year -- minimum. Plus we have 11 years to make up for too... ;)

We haven't booked any excursions or on board activites yet, so I think I need to get working on that. I really don't know what I'm doing yet. I have about a million questions, but I'm still looking through this forum to try to get some answers for now.

Oh and we live in Minnesota, where today it was 95 but by Thanksgiving, we'll be doing this: :cold: so a week in the Carribbean will be heavenly!

I feel like I am a little late coming to this party, so I will try to read back a bit to get to know everyone.. . 126 pages?? WOW! If there's anything I absolutely must know, could someone please give me a rundown? Thanks!!

Looking forward to getting to know you all,
Tana L

Hi Tana!

I haven't made it back to read the 126 pages, so I can't summarize...

The best advice I'd give is to read the Disney Cruise Line forum for a lot of good hints and to read the Passporter Guide to Disney Cruises. Oh, and I'd advise you not to be a way-too-obsessive-planner, like I am.

My now 5 year old DS has been asking "When are we going back on the Disney Cruise?" for almost two years. I expect your sons will enjoy it just as much!

Hi Tana and Welcome :flower:

This is our first cruise also! We are from Pennsylvania and I have one DS who will turn 8 just b4 we go and one DD who will be turning 10 soon after our return (note to all: we have tons of 10 year old DDs and very few DSs my sons age :earseek: ) Enjoy your reading there is tons to absorb!!

I'd say read and ask! Everyone is very friendly and helpful!!!

Sherri

Hi TanaL,

Welcome,

I see you are new to the DIS boards also, so welcome to them also. There is plenty of info on these boards and also some privates sites which have menus, cruise navigators (Daily ship schedule) etc.

We have put together a excel spread sheet listing the DIS cruisers that have participated in this forum. If you would like a copy contact me at my email address, ken.kerns@verizon.net. WE would love to add your name to it. We have set up a DIS exclusive excursion for Grand Cayman. It is a snorkling and beach day, with the sting rays. Also many of us are on the 12:30pm Fury excursion on Cozumel.

Most of us are scheduled for late sitting in the dinning rooms and have had our ressies linked so we will be sitting near each other.

The kids clubs are excellent and are located on deck 5, they give you a pager and this is how they get in touch with you while your relaxing at the adult pool, if your child needs you.

Anyway, if there is anything we can answer for you, please ask. Many of us have been on a few Disney cruise before.

Your team leader
Ken

Welcome to the group Tana!!

Our DS will be turning 6 on October 15th. We were part of the Turkey Gang from last Thanksgiving. You can ask the rest of the gang, our DS was extremely busy last year. He absolutely loved the Cruise. His favorite parts of the cruise were the OC, the Mickey Slide, the characters and the shows. #1 was the activities in the Club. When the ship came back to port, he grabbed the railing and said he was not leaving!! You and your family will have a wonderful time!!

I will be on the Thanksgiving cruise this year with my incredibly shy 11 y.o. daughter. I'm worried that she may not have as great a time as I want her to due to her shyness, but I'm hoping that she will anyway. I'm really looking forward to the cruise, and I know my daughter would be too, BUT she doesn't yet know that we're going, and I think I won't tell her until the morning we leave...:rotfl2:

I haven't yet read thru all 125 pages of this post, but does anyone know if there are any other single parents going?

Well I guess that's it for now. You guys seem like a really friendly bunch, and I look forward to cruising with you all! :cool1:

Hi fletch!

Our DD will have just celebrated her 11th birthday when we cruise, and she's a shy one too! (We can hardly get her interested in the Oceaneer's Lab. She never wants to go 'alone.' It's fine. She hangs with us.) But now that she know there's someone in the same boat (no pun intended :rotfl2: ) she might warm up. :earsgirl:

WOW! I just came in and started reading the posts and so much has been said:

First, my Faux Painting: Anytime, anywhere for those who are interested, I'll tell you all about Faux painting, even give you some hints and short cuts, hehehe :goodvibes .

Secondly, Don't mind my DH, he's just jealous...he's not getting any attention....what's so GREAT about a Cobra??!!! :confused3

Thirdly, WELCOME aboard TANA!!! :boat: You are going to love this Cruise and our crowd. We are the coolest group :cool1:

Fourthly, Zeke11: Three years ago we went to our first trip on Western Disney Cruise and my DH and one of our neighbor (& kids) went to Tulum Ruins and for the adults it was interesting but not for kids, especially it was sooo hot!! :sunny: so in the meantime, my two DD's and I went to the Dolphin Discovery which is part of the Xcaret Eco Arch. Park and from that experience, I schedule the 11:00am but by the time we had to take the fury boat to get to the area where you walk a couple of blocks, get on an air condition bus and take you to the park, I was too late for the appointment that I had to reschedule and had lunch. After the Dolphin excursion (which we had a lot of fun) we rushed to get to our bus to get to the fury boat....whew! It was a bit too much of rush. The fury boat....well it's a long haul...pretty bumpy ride, if you ask me. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc We all booked the Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel & Beach Party...a little more of everything and relaxing, it's a lot of fun...which we went last year Thanksgiving 04.

Fifth: Our DD, Jenna will be turning 13 on 25th of November, the day before we leave...How many Birthdays are we celebrating here? :bday: We oughta have all birthdays in one day and sing the song :rockband:

WHERE's Lampy???? HELLO?! Lampy, where did you go? :confused3

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I am so glad to have found this group. I ordered the Passporter's Guide from Amazon, and I also downloaded "The Magical Disney Cruise Giude".

What do you all do for formal night? Does everyone dress up? I'm not sure if my Dad has a tux but I know my dh doesn't, so we'll be renting at least one if we decide to go that formal. I kind of want to be fairly formal, only because I found these adorable sailor suits on ebay that I just *have* to get for the boys, lol.

How cute is this?!? **oops, I can't post URLS yet due to board restrictions on newbies, but it's on ebay -- item 6799832906. It's just a super cute captain's suit.

Speaking of dressing up, do we bring pirate costumes for the kids for Wednesday night?

Has anyone done a cabana massage on castaway cay? Can you reserve them online? I'm not seeing it as an option but I'm not sure if I'm not finding it, they're not online, or they're all booked up.

Thanks!!

Hi Tana;

Well, let's see now....the formal night, everybody has their say. I, on the hand, loved it...last year, Thanksgiving Disney cruise, since I didn't want to spend too much $$$ on tuxes, both my DH and DS had a black suit. I just added the black bow tie, cumberbund, tux shirt and cuff clips. I bought 2 sets at a very reasonable price. I wore a formal blue gown and had my hair done and looked like Cinderella, (did that on purpose) and DD(14) dress in light green and looked like tinkerbell and my DD(12) dressed like Bell with long yellow dress. I say, do what ever you feel like doing. I love to dress on formal night!!! princess:
(Hopefully you'll see a picture)

For the cabana's: GO FOR IT! It's AWESOME and WORTH it. To reserve it, you go to the Spa salon (once to get on the boat) and ask them for the cabana massage. I might do the same.

Our family loves to get dressed up for formal night. :earsgirl: Mainly because it makes for some great photos. We purchased the DCL 'Christmas Cards' with our 'formal portrait' as the picture. We're still getting compliments! (It's also a great way to promote DCL. We've been trying to get friends and relatives to book, and it's sparked their interest.)

Welcome TanaL!DH and I dress up for formal night.DH usually wears a tux,and I a formal dress.

I just finished booking a room at Disney's Pop Century for November 18 night.DH insisted we drive down earlier this time around. Can you tell he is excited?!?!?Who isn't???

Lampskies, our dear Disfriend where are you hiding?

Maria

Hey everyone! Thank you all for the warm welcome and the news that I will not be the only single parent on the boat! LOL! I also appreciate all the encouragement that my daughter will be okay and have a great time!

Neverlandclub, it's nice to see another Marylander here...you're just down the road a bit! I graduated from Centennial back in the day! :)

Heart, your son sounds like one of the few boys that my daughter would enjoy hanging with!

Mickeyhugger, it'll be nice for the girls to have each other to go to the Club with.

Someone correctly guessed that this will be our first Disney Cruise, and let me know that there are some adult activities planned...THANX!! I'll be sure to check them out.

Again, thank you ALL for the reassurance; it's much appreciated!

Welcome Fletch88 and TanaL! My DW and I have twin DD's who will be 10 1/2 on our cruise date. We also have a 14 1/2 year old DD.

For all who are inquiring about the t-shirts, I still don't have the design back. I will call my contact tomorrow, and see what I can find out. We will be able to order standard adult and children sizes, so once I have the design, I will post it, and you can let me know what you want. My plan was that I would just go ahead and pay for the shirts, and then ship them to whoever wanted me to ship them. You could then send me a check for the cost of the shirts plus the actual shipping cost. If you want, I can also just bring the shirts to the ship and get them to you there. That would save you the shipping cost, but you wouldn't have that attractive shirt to wear while boarding the ship!

Maria/Disfan37 I was in Gainesville yesterday for the Gator game. What a beautiful day and evening! It almost feels like fall, doesn't it? Unfortunately, I won't be back next Saturday, but Go Gators!

Willie-I'm glad to hear that you made it back safely, and that all of your family is safe. I know that they have a lot of struggles ahead of them, but things like this remind us of what is really important. Thanks for reminding us all of what really matters.
