November 18, 2012 ~ Turkey day on the Wonder

I just found y'all!!! Can't wait to join you in less than 4 weeks. I will be traveling with DH, DS (5), and DD (2). Looking forward to a great week. Thanks for all of the info I have found on these boards!

I have a question dining changes due to thanksgiving... Has anyone received info about the dining rotations? We have palo reserved for Friday night, but my son would never forgive us if we missed pirate night.

Thanks for the info!

:welcome: Better late than never! DoubleTrouble has arranged some meet-ups before and after boarding. These are posted on page 1 of this thread. I hope you join us at these gatherings and get to know you better.

I haven't read which night will be pirate night on this cruise. Hmmm. Someone might need to call Disney and get the schedule as I bet it will be Wednesday or Friday. Also, the movie schedule. On our last cruise, it was mostly Pixar movies (Pixar cruise) but they premiered Frankenweenie one night at 12:01 and played it again in the afternoon on one of our port days so I didn't see it. I would have had to bring a pillow and blanket for a 12:01 screening of anything, and I would have used them! Anyway, I wish I would have seen it on board. We went and saw it last weekend at the theater and it was not a favorite of mine.

We are leaving 3 weeks from tomorrow. :woohoo: Going to do one day of DL before the cruise to get in the mood. Actually, Goofys Gal can't pass within 200 miles of DL without stopping :rotfl2: Anyone else doing a day at DL precruise?

Question about 2 excursions in Puerto Vallarta if anyone knows. Looking at the Pirate Ship adventure and the Paradise Village beach break. Anyone had experience with either of these? Pros? Cons? I'm wondering what all there is to do on the island with the Pirate Ship excursion. Being November, will the water be warm enough to snorkel or do the other water sports that are listed? If not, what else is there to do besides the water sports? I know Paradise Village has their pools heated if the temps are lower. Advice?

Alright then. Everyone have a great day and enjoy the rest of the week!

Being November, will the water be warm enough to snorkel....?

I googled PV water temp and found this.

AVERAGE WATER TEMPERATURE

J F M A M J J A S O N D
77 75 75 75 79 82 84 86 84 84 82 79

82 declining toward 79 sounds pretty good to me!

Hi and welcome to the party! party:

This is an UPDATE to my earlier Post #82 as of today...

Just got off the phone with DCL with some more info (subject to change, of course...only one of our cruises had different rotations than we were told by DCL agents)...

Dining Rotations (RECONFIRMED):
TAPTAPT
APTAPTA
PTAPTAP
(no "doubling up" this time...this is different than the normal MR flow due to T-Day)
So, for example, with PTAPTAP you could get formal night and T-Day in Tritons, and pirate night in Parrot Cay.[/B]

Late Added Note: Our friends from last year were told this as well, but then the ship went with the PTTAPTA "double up" rotation anyway...so ???)

Pirate Night: Pirate Night will be WEDNESDAY for this cruise (normally it's on Thursday) due to Thanksgiving.

Movies:
Brave
Avengers
Odd Life of Timothy Green
People Like Us
Chimpanzee
John Carter
The Muppets
The Help
Cars 2
Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides
Wreck It Ralph
Frankenweenie

Decorations (RECONFIRMED):
The Gingerbread House in the Promenade Lounge and the other Christmas decorations (tree, garlands, etc) will be up for Thanksgiving. The characters will also have some holiday costume modifications as well.

Other: FYI, last Thanksgiving, the ship still left Cabo for the night even though they had done Pirate Night the night before. They usually just cruise/hover off shore then just pull back in the next morning.

Hope that helps!

As Linda asked, if anyone is hitting DLR before/after the cruise and wants to get together for a mini-meet, please post or PM your intentions.

In the past, we've also done some mini-meets or pre-meets at some of the more popular hotels for those coming in early. It looks like we are staying at the DoubleTree in San Pedro the night prior. Anyone else??

Thanks for getting all that info! I appreciate it!

We will be at DL on the 17th and are staying near DL, parking at port. I am so ready to go! :drive:

9 of our 13 are leaving Roseville after soccer games (last of the season) on that Sat., and are staying in a motel near Magic Mtn. that night, driving the rest of the way in the morning, so won't be available for any early meet/greets. ITHO our DD, SIL and 2 kids will be at DL for 2 days and will meet us at the dock.

We all have a 12:30 check-in time.

Steve

We'll be surprising our two kids with a cruise on the Wonder over Thanksgiving. We are so excited, but still not sure when we tell the kids. Driving down from Norcal? The night before? Just not sure, but excited nonetheless. DD & DS 10and under.

I'm glad football season will be over by then. DD is a cheerleader.

I'm really getting antsy here and not getting much done at work today either :scratchin

Our DD and SIL (Walnut Creek) did the same thing with their 2 kids (4 & 2 at the tiime) on their last DCL cruise :)

Trying to figure out when to hit Palo, is brunch or dinner better? do you know when formal night is?, semi formal? I called DCL yesterday and they told me Monday was formal and Pirate was Friday (which is different than what you were told, they told me it was Fri. because of Thanksgiving). Anyone else heard the same/different?

Trying to figure out when to hit Palo, is brunch or dinner better?

We had a great dinner at Palo last cruise, but because of our concern of Pirate night pirate:, etc., we've made brunch reservations this time instead. And watching the video someone posted above, I am glad we did. :yay: If by chance that day is our character breakfast, we should still have plenty of time to take the kids to that and then head out our for brunch.

Steve

Is it possible to change your palo reservations? Or are you pretty much stuck with what you get?

Our DD made a reservation for 6 and wanted to change it to 7 (6 I guess was the max. she could make a reservation for on-line...or she forgot we had 7 adults) so a couple of weeks ago she called. She was told that we would have to wait until we got on board and then go see the Maitre d'.

I figured a call was cheap, so I called back yesterday (to the Castaway Club member 'hot line'), and after being on hold for almost 15 minutes (got to listen to some nice Disney music though :rolleyes1 ) was told the same thing.

So we wait...:rolleyes2

Hi everyone,
We just booked this cruise and are so excited to sail to the Mexican Riviera. Our group includes myself, dsister, dd and ds. We're pretty sad that we missed the FE cutoff date. Looking forward to meeting you.

We did not tell our kids still. Susan is 15 1/2 and Tommy 13. We told them we are going to stay on the Queen Mary. Wonder how long before they figure it out when we pull into the parking lot. Susan is starting to ask questions though about what exactly we are doing in Southern California. We keep coming up with as many dull things as we can think of. Ha ha.:yay:

We're definately doing the Pirate Ship Adventure in Puerto Vallarta! Have heard fantastic things about it (I always check multiple sources I am known in my group of friends as having "Yelp-Fu" because I find such gems), looked at the beach they take you to and it looks amazing. Private beach, banana boat, snorkeling, sand castle contest, kayaks, boogie boards, etc.

Here's a link to their site diretly which has more info than DCL: http://www.pirateshipvallarta.com/pirate-ship-marigalante.html

Oh, and the water should be in the 80s: http://http://www.puertovallartatours.net/weather.htm
