November 18, 2012 ~ Turkey day on the Wonder

Linda, we are 5524. Sorry... thought I had sent that over before. I'm getting very excited.

You may have and I lost it. Good reason to get excited! KennedyParalegal has reported that docs are arriving!

I'll update the FE list with your cabin number a little later. I am only missing one cabin number.

We now have the cruise docs for both rooms. My kids are very relieved. After our docs came yesterday and theirs did not, we may have implied (they are teens) that they wouldn't be able to sail if their docs didn't come. pirate:

We are a party of 13. We booked last March, but I just found this forum today...go figure. I started a thread in another cruise forum when we booked, and wondered where everyone was :confused3 ...now I know :teleport:

Who we are;
Grand Ma Great, 88 years old...she is hosting us all on this cruise, Lake Wildwood, Ca. That's the kind of MIL to have :yay:
Her two daughters, and me (retired)...married to one of them (43 years), Lake Wildwood, Ca.
Our son, a teacher, and his 4 kids; 3 girls (3, 5, & 12) and a 10 year old son, Roseville, Ca.
Our daughter, a teacher, and husband, their daughter (5) and son (3), Walnut Creek, Ca.

Our SIL and DD were engaged on a Disney cruise, married at the Disneyland Hotel, honeymooned at Disney World, have season passes at DL, are DVC owners, and this will be their 3rd Disney cruise. (As I type they are at DL for the weekend.)

Just after we booked this cruise our DD was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has since had a mastectomy, chemo, and is now on radiation (just started back to work part time last week). She will finish radiation the week we leave for the cruise! When we board the Wonder we will all be wearing shirts with a pink cancer ribbon and Mickey Ears on the front, the same one in my Avatar. We will also have a large banner that says, "Susie's Crew"...you won't be able to miss us ;)

Sorry. I think that last cabin number was ours. We now have them, we are in 6140 and 6142.

More doc arrivals!! All 3 rooms came today.

I think seeing luggage tags and such made it feel all the more real for my kids! Now I really DO need to start packing!!

Also, welcome aboard Calberry & family!! You guys most definately need this vacation. We have a very close friend going through the radiation/chemo (this is her last week of treatments) right now too.

We just changed our port adventures. My husband did a zipline course for a team building exercise and is now in love with ziplining, so he and the boys are scheduled for that in Puerta Vallarta and my daughter and I will be doing the Mexican cooking experience (daughter has health issues that make the ziplining a bad choice for her). We will all be doing the Harbor Cruise and Scenic stop in Cabo. Anyone joining us on any of these?

Have any of the previous MR cruisers done these who would like to share their experiences?

I am so excited!!!!!! :banana::cool1::jumping1::jumping3:

Thanks,
Patti

Welcome!! :cheer2::banana: What a wonderful gift! A big hug to your DD. :grouphug: Look forward to meeting up on the cruise.

Thanks for the updated FE list Linda! I've started on my FE gifts and it's funny how you can envision how your gift will look, but that's not exactly how they actually turn out. :rotfl2: After a few failed attempts (and a well worn path to Michaels) I think I've finally worked out the little hiccups. Yay! :yay: I just have to pick up the finishing touch on my next trip to WDW at the end of the month. Can't wait!

abqDisneymom - welcome to the FE list! :cheer2: It would be super helpful if you could list the gender/relationship of the adults in your 3 cabins. Thanks!

So sorry for the delay in my reply, things are crazy and trip prep is in high gear! Our cabin is 6026, it is myself, my husband Max and my 18 year old daughter Jessica. Cabin 6028 Is my sister Lyn and brother in law Stephen, cabin
6647 is my mom Darlene and Aunt Carolyn.

Welcome aboard! :welcome: What a way to celebrate your dd's finishing another round and hopefully the final round of treatment. I'll look for the banner. And be sure to look for other members of the dis on this cruise in the terminal. Meet by the largest TV display where Disney movies/shows are playing, you won't be able to miss it. There is also a Dis Meet @ 3:00pm in the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3, Port Side.

Hi Patti. I haven't done any of these at these ports. We just went to Ensenada on the Wonder and did A Taste of Mexico where we made our lunch. This was a lot of fun. We made salsa, guacamole, a enchilada and a tostada and were certainly full after the meal. Sounds similar so I'm sure you will have a good time. The Harbor cruise and tour sounds like a good plan too. We have made zero plans for either port so far. When we get to Cabo, I'll be asking round to see if the whale are running early this year. If so, my plans will be to go whale watching early in the morn on day 2.

Welcome! :welcome: Thanks for checking in! Again, be sure to come by the meet and greet in the terminal by the big TV happening all morning before we board and then again @ the 3:00 pm meet and greet, in the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3, Port Side.

4 weeks from today, we will be waking up to our first sea day! We still haven't received our documents yet so maybe they are holding them in case they want to upgrade me right? ;) Looks like this is going to be a pretty full ship although our roll call is fairly small.

Also, heads up to anyone bringing a soft sided cooler with or without ice. DCL is not allowing them out of Port Canaveral http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3011296 I don't know what the current policy is at San Pedro. We had no problems bringing ours on 9/30 but I'm going to be packing my adult beverages in a roll on suitcase this trip just to avoid the hassle of transferring them to a carry on just in case. I can probably fit more in that way also. I want to make sure I have enough so I can join DoubleTrouble and others who might be joining the pre-dinner drink on the Secret Verhanda Deck 7! :drinking1

FE list is finalized. Please have at least one person from your cabin at the 3 pm meet and greet, deck 3 Promenade Lounge for any updates to the FE list.

Everyone have a great week!

Linda

Check out my post 113 of this thread (direct link is http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=45962424&postcount=113) for some info on PV ziplining. We did Los Veranos directly as opposed to through DCL. There are two different locations (DCL goes to the other one)...I'm sure you would have fun at either. Most excursions in Cabo can be easily booked on the pier for much less than DCL, particularly boat rides. We got a private water taxi for 1.5 hours for just my family last December to do whale watching (plus a tour of El Arco, plus Medano Beach drop off/pick up) for a total of $60 for all 4 of us, just as an example. There are plenty of options in Cabo, or you can just go to the beach and chill out as well. :beach: We're thinking about parasailing for the kids this time(??), or maybe dolphin swim again (which you have to book through the ship). Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone :thumbsup2

Our DD, SIL and 2 kids were at DL and CA this weekend for their annual Halloween Party trip (first trip back to DL/CA for DD post-chemo...SIL and kids went twice w/out her) and the 3 year old grandson was SO excited because he was just BARELY tall enough to do Soarin' and Radiator Springs Racers...and LOVED them both :dance3:

They will also be going for a couple of days before this cruise...ah, the advantage of annual passes. Plus our son is a soccer coach for 2 of his DD's, and that Sat. is the last day of season...so can't really 'sneak' away early :sad2: (Any other Roseville soccer players out there? He coaches the Champions and ***********, and grandson is on the Gators) (Interesting that is team name shows asterisks instead of what I typed. :scratchin Take these two words and make one word and that is what I typed; Quick Silver )

We just took advantage of the 4 day park hopper pass sale at Costco yesterday for the 2 of us (great deal...a slight discount over face value, but you then also get a $50 gift card for Costco. Has to be used by end of Feb.). The DW and DD will be doing the Tinkerbell Half Marathon in Jan. so we will be going then :cool1:

Steve

Yippee! Now we get to do the Doc Dance. :cool1:

We have 5 households and therefore 5 mailing addresses in our group of 13. Not sure yet if the others got their docs, but at least me and the DW have ours!!!:rotfl2:

BTW, are group is in 4 cabins (look for the Mickey ear pink ribbon magnets on our doors). We are in 6122, one is adjoining ours, one inside cabin across the corridor, and the other is directly across the elevator lobby from us. (So we have both Port and Starboard balconies covered for taking pics!)

Steve

Still no docs here  I'm starting to wonder if the mailman thinks he's going on this cruise instead of us! One set of docs getting delayed, I could understand, but both sets? Actually, I'm thinking that since he delivers so late in the day to us and we're towards the end of his route, that he doesn't always deliver the "mail". The junk mail was there yesterday but no regular mail. It always amazes me how often I get only "junk mail" on Mondays. :sad2:

Maybe today though ;)

One of the 5 households in our group got theirs on Sat, we got ours yesterday, and I assume the others haven't yet got theirs or they would have told me ;)

Steve

Now we all have them :dance3:

Steve

I hope to get ours soon! They were sent to TA's office and magically arrived there yesterday.:rolleyes1 I just want to FEEL my luggage tags! :goodvibes
