November 13, 2011 Mexico on the Wonder

sorry, another rookie FE question for anyone:
do i distribute a gift daily to all in the FE group, or is it one per cruise, or is it a couple per cruise? and is there a specific time of day i should be delivering the gifts? still learning the rules! thanks!

Question on the FE groups.. If there are 2 rooms with a family, will there be a FE on each door or just one. Also is it one family or 2 families traveling together.

I just noticed some DISers have 2 rooms on the list.

There are 2 rooms listed for me since my mom is not on the DIS. She'll have a FE and will be passing out gifts as well. The other with 2 rooms will each have a FE with 2 pockets (her DD is in a room with her mom), so they are all 1 family but in 2 rooms.

I already sent the email. Maybe check your spam folder? 21 adults, 21 kids, 13 total rooms participating.

oh strange!! i just checked my spam folder and didn't see anything either. i checked my PM on here too. it looks like u have my correct email address (from your PM). do u mind sending again -- or sending via PM? sorry for the trouble.

You'll just deliver once (one per room or one per person or whatever you want). You can choose the day and time that you deliver. In the past I've noticed that a lot get delivered on the first sea day, so if you notice that maybe don't do it that day, but otherwise anytime is fine.

i read in some other threads about people bringing tshirts or pillow cases to get signed by the characters (leaving them at guest services). i read that one person brought the matte from her frame to get signed too, so she could add her cruise photo later. has anyone seen any other great ideas like this for the signatures? i'm thinking i'll go the frame route (maybe just a 5x7 so guess services will accept it), but wanted to hear of any other suggestions. thanks!

Hi Nami - Yes that is something that they do.. I know there is an ebay or etsy seller who does some disney designs on pillowcases that people purchase and have the characters sign. As for picture frame mats, I think it is cool. If you plan on using one of the pictures from the cruise. Most of those are 8x10 or 6x8 (unforunately not 5x7).

Another idea is when they have the Goofy pajama party in the kids clubs, send your daughter, because they color pillow cases there and they get to take home. My daughter has 2 from her previous cruises.

Thanks.. I was counting DIS names and not the Rooms, so I need to adjust my count. Thanks!

I'll have to remember about the Goofy Pajama Party, it sounds fun! Are there any other fun things to be sure to send the kids to in the clubs? I think DD will be with us a lot, but I want her to get to do some of the fun activities as well.

As far as the picture mats go, we did that on a previous cruise and took the mat and some colored sharpies to Guest Services and requested that the characters sign it. The mat was delivered to our room later on in the cruise. It was a fun idea, but it wasn't what I had expected. I had seen some mats with a bunch of signatures and ours just had Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Chip, and Dale so there was a lot of empty space and didn't look that great. If I fill it in with some stickers and such it will look better. Maybe request that you want a lot of signatures?

ooh, thanks for the tip! maybe i'll reconsider doing the pillow cases again!

ooh, thanks so much for sharing this! and i'll definitely have my DD go to goofy's pajama party - so fun!

Fun kids things to do... (Since Shauna asked)

My DD first cruise was when she was 7 and This is when they had separate clubs for ages 3-7 and 8-12, so there were a few things that I remember her doing and she had a blast doing.

I told you about the Goofy PJ party. There is a dance along with Snow White, I believe it is called Do see Do with snow white. There is mouseketeer training with Mickey mouse. Cookie baking, they made Chocolate chip cookies, Also they made flubber, they have a mad scientist come in and help the kids make flubber. What is so interesting is they don't just do something, they tell a story when they do it. Be sure to check your navigators daily because there is always something going on in the clubs.

Then on Thursday before dinner they have Friendship Rocks. The kids get to learn a short song and dance then they all the kids go up on the Walt Disney Theatre Stage and perform. Plus they get a special item. It is cute and my DD has done it both cruises.

Alice and Friends or Disney Friends Tea party. This one is only on Sea days and may or may not be on the Wonder this trip. You MUST pick up Free tickets from Guest Services the first day, because they do go fast. This is a Kid tea party that has special guests. It has been a hit with the small guests. Even if it is not listed on the Navigator you pick up in the port that lists special activities, ask at guest services about this. It is generally 3pm on Sea days.

Pretty Quiet around here.. Must mean everyone is packing! I am the only one who hasn't started packing.

if packing means throwing everything cruise-related into a room, i guess i've started! it's all FE related stuff though -- haven't even thought about our packing! oh, that brings up a question though. is there a limit on # of bags per person? i'm sure i was told, but i just can't remember now... thanks!

I don't believe their is a limit, but you really don't want more than can fit under your bed, because the room is not that big. I believe they give you 2 luggage tags per person in your documentation.

BTW.. for the first time cruisers. when you get done unpacking, just lift up the corner of your main bed and the suitcases will fit underneath. Our first cruise, we did not know this and tried to keep them in the closet, such a pain. Now we just unpack and put them under the bed.

It's quiet over here but there is a little conversation going on over in the FB group. I've been busy trying to get things done that need to happen before the cruise. I'm having some ladies over to my home next Tuesday for a Christmas Card making party (using stamps) and I've got to get the cards figured out soon. I'm also trying to plan DD's birthday. I thought we'd get away without a kid party again but one of her little friends had one a few weeks ago and now she keeps talking about when her friends come to the party (so I decided I'd better plan one). Yesterday we drove to the nearest Disney Store (about 45 min away) and let DD try on some costumes and she had a blast! We took just about every costume that was in her size and let her try them on. It's the first time she's really cared about trying things on and it was so cute seeing her get excited in the fancy dresses. We were just going to borrow a costume for Halloween, but then we decided to buy her one so that she can also wear it for formal night on the cruise. We ended up bringing home 3! DH decided that maybe she'd like some dress ups now, and hopefully they will still fit next year so we don't have to come up with another costumer. She loved the Minnie and Cinderella costumes, and I just loved the Snow White dress on her. Is anyone else bringing a princess dress on the cruise for Formal night?

Shauna - DD9 has outgrown the princess phase, but on our first cruise at 7 she wore a princess dress (Belle) on formal night. Lots of girls do that on formal night. Some girls wore dresses every day. Now she will have a pirate dress for the pirate party.

Just looked at the calendar and realized we only have a short amount of time to get things together before we leave. This week I need to do some cleaning, my sister is coming and then we have a big halloween party next week. So once Halloween is over, I will get things together for together for the cruise.

Just saw this creative FE on the boards: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2821566
It's made out of duct tape! Just shows that you don't have to sew to make one.

Does anyone know of a good shuttle company who would service the Long Beach airport? I know several of you on this thread are local SoCal residents. We are looking for a shuttle from the airport to Disneyland, and then one from the port back to the airport. I'm wondering if any shuttle companies have car seats on hand. Our plan right now is to haul both kids car seats from home and just take a cab, but it would sure be easier not lugging 2 car seats through the airport with our 2 kids, 2 strollers, 4 suitcases, 4 carry-ons, and a diaper bag.

Shauna - Have you looked at Supershuttle? They seem to be everywhere. Unforuntately the only help I can give you is googling or trying looking at towncars or Limo Service from Long beach.

My only experience with Hiring carseats from Car services or Shuttle service was in Florida. And the first time we had a under 25lb kid and they gave us a booster. (Not Safe)

Then our next Experience was in a van from the company this board recommends and they gave us an old car seat that would not fit a 40lb kid, unfortuantely the seatbelts did not tighten either, so we had no seatbelts.

Don't mean to scare you :scared1: But I do think California tends to have stricter laws on this so you might do better. I can agree if you can get out of having a car seat that you need to haul around that would be best.
