Hello all - I PMd all the people that we haven't heard from yet (hookedonmagic, jaypd, bobsuzla, feratsu) as well as frank2251 from the DIS t-shirt thread that chip&dale&fun invited to join us. Hopefully, that will get them to come back & check out all that has been happening since they last posted!!

We are headed to cooler country tonight to Flagstaff. We'll have a cruise pow-wow with Mom & Dad to get some more details ironed out. They paid off their cruise this week & I'm thinking that we'll join that ranks of the paid for next week!!!

Am I crazy to not really be into Palo ressies? Everyone seems to rave about it, but it just doesn't seem like that big a deal to me. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a nice meal without the kids, but I'm OK with doing that in a burger joint too We live in the southwest, where new jeans are dress-up clothes. I'm guessing that there is no way in he** that I'll get DH in anything appropriate for formal night. It'll probably be Topsiders for us that night He works in an office that lets him wear jeans/shorts to work, so he only has 1 pair of Dockers for dressup. I wasn't at all interested in formal night either, but all the talk on the board had me thinking about it a bit. We'll see where we all end up! Boy, rereading that makes me sound like a hick. Although I do listen to country music & own cowboy boots, I do not live in a barn & walk around with a blade of grass between my teeth.

we are going to rent hubby's tux-we did this on our previous cruises and it went so smoothly.

anyone looking for formal dresses (be it for yourself or a daughter)-check out any bridal stores in your area (july and august are usualy clearance months for spring and summer dresses), also (and i know this one sounds kind of odd but...) check out goodwill stores. i have found that if you search through them you can often find top dollar beaded dresses that have only been worn once or twice before (i'm assuming bought for a cruise or reunion then the owner had no need for them), i've also found these to be a great resource for bridesmaid/flower girl dresses that work realy well for little girls who want to be "very fancy" at dinner. i plan on taking one beaded dress (if it fits by then) but for the most part a pair of black dress slacks and a few nicer tops. this way i can keep my packing to a minimum well-i guess as long as i don't have to pay a luggage over weight fee on the trip home i'll feel as though i've been successful

What a hoot - we should have a group photo taken during formal night and compare it to a group photo drinking margaritta's. I bet we will all look completely different.

Some good suggestions on these posts. I just looked at the Tux rental site - they have some cool accessories.....I think that is the way to go - rather than hauling a tux around the ship.....I'll defer to DH - afterall - he has to wear it.

I may check out some consignment shops as suggested. I'd love an elegant gown (not to pay $$$ for it), but thus far - nope....Maybe a more elegant pattern to sew.....

On formal night my dad just wears a suit. We pretty much dress like we are going to a wedding. Unless it is one of his daughters getting married, my father had never donned a tux! Topsiders is good though! We ate up there one night on our last cruise. We have a very nice and relaxed meal there. Totally different from the breakfast and lunch buffet Topsiders, you won't even recognize it!! I think on formal night they even have the same menu as the regular rotation restaurants.

LOL! My DH even wore black jeans to his own wedding Black jeans, black boots, black cowboy hat & tux top & tie.

Maybe that will be the new look on formal night!

Hey Everyone boy have I missed a lot. Ok I see I was aksed where I am from deck etc etc.

I am from Bohemia NY I will be on Deck 8 in a Cat 3. I will also have second seating. And now that the family found out that the wife and I are going to do a Vow Renewal boy did the cruise list get longer.

Besides DW DS(5) DD(1) and Myself going on the cruise. We now have my wife's mom and dad, her sister and husband and my mom. Boy everywhere I look family will be there .

Someone please catch me up on any meets planned etc etc

Currently, we have a meet planned for 3:00 on embarkation day outside the theater. Then a more informal one arranged around a LOT of margaritas at ay given moment.

I say bring the glasses and make sure you have extras!!! Have you tried making Konk Koolers?? We got the recipe off of the internet and have been making them in anticipation of the trip. After one or two you feel like you are on the ship. Of course we haven't been on a crusie before but it is fun to pretend.

Barkely - thanks for the Tip. I stopped by David's Bridal and they had a clearance rack - found an "almost perfect" dress ON SALE for only $49.00 wow and sales tax exempt as well. (They do that in Florida for Back to school shopping, not that I will wear the dress in "back to school" )

Anyone else there still needing a little sparkle, this is a great Tip!

Glad you are back. We are in the Countdown mode....I cannot wait. This weekend is time for serious consideration of excursions ready to book as soon as I can.....In addition to family, we, your Disboards friends, will crash your vow renewal wearing our neon green Disboard T-Shirts and our green wristbands, with green margarita's in our hands. Just kidding

Serious thinking here. I tried to search for the last post on this subject but could not find it - so I will start over.

Anyone interested in linking dining reservations? If so, expect that we should try to coordinate. Now I have heard that there are problems doing this....if someone changes, the entire group gets changed so we will need to investigate. I have never done this but i think one person calls and says, hey - i woud like to sit with choc-marg, fairydismom etc. And the central reservation system will set it up. I've sorted our list by seating times, so this will make more sense when I repost on Monday. Some of you have a table for your entire group and it will not be possible....anyway, it is time for serious thinking and planning this weekend....

We are early seating on deck2 midship.My wife may get dress up for formal night but I my just wear pants and shirt. Don't really feel like dress up to much.
