Thanks Dave. I'm glad Neil's not the only one. You should be able to spot him. He'll be the one tugging at his collar and tie and constantly checking his watch to see how long is left 'til he can get out of it. His idea of formal on vacation is socks.

Tammy you crack me up. That smily guy with the drink is hysterical and looks a little like someone I'm married to. Hope to meet you onboard.

Tracey

Hi Tracy I look foward to meeting with you as well. I'll be the one chasing down 6 year twins. :yay: You'll find my husband, oh well you know where. On formal night he'll probably be with other NFH. (Non Formal Husbands) :rotfl: Look foward to visiting with everyone.

Wendy, I'm going to call my post office and ask about that Priority Mail package and see if they can give me any help from this end.

Sorry Jackie....I meant to post....we got our right away! Thanks.

We are having computer troubles in class - so i thought I'd take a moment and see what you are all doing. WOW!!! You guys are getting so organized and excited - it makes me more excited (is that possible?).

I had another dream last night - this time no tidal waves! :goodvibes So I believe now my own anxieties are dwindling. I did find a new top for formal night - so I'm excited about that as well. I can't wait till the new capri's come (I had them shipped 2 day) so I know how much room I'll have to eat - or have to lose before we board! :rotfl2: :rotfl: All in all - we are going to have a great time.

Cylnne - give young B a huge hug for me will ya! I am so excited to play with the kiddies too - I wish we could go do some crafting with Miss M! Remember the stuff Jackie brought at dinner that night - as if we'd be coloring at the dinner table. Ahhh that's my sister!

Ok folks back to learn some stuff - I'm taking Quark a publishing program for our company newsletter. Cool beans.

I need some help.

I was speaking with some friends, and am now getting cold feet about our transportation from the airport to the port and back. I have reserved a car for $40 for each part of the trip. Now, some of my friends were talking about how they would rather get picked up by a car service and not deal with the rental car shuttle, etc.

How are you guys getting to the port? Are there any car service companies that will be close to the $40 price for myself, wife, and 2 boys (11 & 8)?

I'm starting to wonder if this is the best way, or if I will be cursing myself out as we wait for a shuttle and see everyone else getting picked up by cars.

Help! Help!

Jack

First off dont panic. Many people get aboard the Ship and dont have OCPD like all of us!
If you haven't already I would go to the sticky's at the beginning of the cruise thread and read all of them. They are filled wiyh tons of info. And then I would just come here and ask away. I am positive that and question you might have will be answered By these wonderful double dippers!
Devin
Tell Michelle the dress is amazing!!!Have you calmed down from you busy weekend of taking care of everyones cars?
Wojo
My Dh feels the same way about dressing up but also gave in
to me. He will unwillingly be wearing a suit. I can betcha that the jacket will be off before he sits in his chair!
Happy planning :sunny:

I should change my name to "pane-in-de-but"

No, no, no...I've had all these questions and more (right, Jackie?). We're first time cruisers and were totally clueless, then found the light that is known as the DISboards. Keep reading...but don't stress. I think Jackie gave a GREAT recap for you. She's our resident go-to gal!

My DH will be wearing a suit for formal night and so will DS8. DD5 keeps changing her mind, but wants to match me and my shoes (Peg, you're rubbing off on her!). She is bringing a Snow White dress for some other night, because the Aurora one is pretty trashed. We figure when you're 5, any night can be dress up night! Oh, and for pirate's night, we just have pirate t-shirts...well, again, except for DD5 who full be in full wench regalia.

Jack...can't really help with the transport question. We're taking the Radisson shuttle. But, my vote is to go with your gut. We'll make them hold the ship til you get there!

Jackie...You really are the greatest!

How many DH's out there will be dressed in Tuxedos on formal night? Do most wear suits? My DH has no idea that there is a formal night yet and hates dressing up. I was going to rent him a tux from the ship if that's what most wear but if he can get away with a suit and tie I'll do that.
Also, do you dress the kids formal as well? Does a cinderella dress count as formal or is it too costumey?

My Dh will be wearing a suit and tie for formal and semi-formal nights. If getting dressed up really bothers your Dh, you all can eat at the casual buffet that night. It might be fun to get dressed up, have your picture taken, etc - -a good Date Night.

Edited to add: Cinderella dress would be fine for a young daughter. We will probably see a lot of them. I have sons. The 8 year old will wear a dress shirt and sports jacket (he likes to.) The 6 yr old will probably just wear the dress shirt. Other nights to dinner I let them wear nice dress shorts or khakis and a golf shirt or hawaiian shirt or even a nice looking T shirt.

I think there is still a request of No shorts on Adults at dinner in the main dining rooms. Khakis and a golf shirt or open collared dress shirt will be fine for Dh on 'regular' nights. You could wear capris, skirt, pants and sweater set or the like.

I know, it gets complicated, but for the most part, being respectful and making an effort to look nice at dinner is sufficient.

Just wanted to announce that I have completed my wardrobe shopping :cool1: . I now have outfits for 6 dinners, not 7 like EVERYONE else since my DH refuses to get more dressed up then kakis and a polo shirt so that will be a room service or Topsiders night. He's such a weinie and agrees with Tracey's DH about the whole formal is wearing socks thing. OY!

I went and got everything for the DIStag today!!! We have 2 cabins so that's a lot of goodies!!!!

Still haven't decided what to put in the gift basket yet so I haven't called Shirley.

Welcome to the newbees and check out the countdown!!!! :woohoo:

Jack, we did this once before ourselves. I dropped everyone and the luggage off and then went and turned in the car. By time I got back they were all checked in and hanging out in the terminal. If it was just a few of us I would do it again.

We have also done limo/car services and they are not even close to 40.00. More like 140.

DW says thanks.
She has said that I am not wearing the same type of dress thata I wore last time abut a million times. Her last one had about a 12 foot train and it weighed about 20 lbs my Mother enlaw made it and it was still over $2000. And it took her almost a full month to finish. Ok well any way of to the shower and to work.
Oh I know time is short my brother enlaw went out and bought his socks and under wear for his boys yesterday he liks to wait for the last minunte. :lmao:

Ok, I didn't mean ALL clothing optional but I did read that there was a dress code of sorts for dinners. I bet my sister can confirm that. Do the men actually have to wear ties? Do they have to have dress slacks? I guess we could call kakhi's "brown slacks"?

Just curious - even though my DH will be home taking care of the pets! And hopefully the house...

Miss C - I can't wait to see Miss M - and all HER shoes too!!!;)

If I drop them off, do I give my wife my passport? If I do that, how do I get back into the terminal? Will my drivers license be good enough?

I think I'm going to keep the car, but now the question is do I drop them off or just return the car and take the shuttle with the entire family.

DON'T HAVE EVERYONE GO TO THE CAR RENTAL!! Drop them and the luggage off, return the car yourself. You just need your drivers license to get in the terminal.

No, you keep your passport with you and you checkin when you get back to the terminal. They actually had us go to the person who checked the others in and not wait in line.

We are in Palo on semi-formal night, so of course DH will wear a tie and jacket that night. On formal night, he will be wearing that same exact tie and jacket... and wonder of all wonders, I will be wearing the same dress both nights as well! :teeth: Got to love those simple black dresses! :cheer2:

All of my sons will be wearing button up shirts and khakis on formal night as that is as formal as we own for them, and they grow too darn fast to buy something else! :confused3

I told DH that a tux was required, can't wait to see the look I get when he finds out otherwise :rolleyes1 By then he will be looking all cute and there will be no need to change. :Pinkbounc We hardly ever get to go real formal so it should be fun, a great photo op. The rest of the nights He probably won't even do a tie. It is getting so close I am really ready to GO !
