If I were superstitious, I'd think we should not be sailing this week.
I have a lower-back condition (missing 1/2 disc at my L5/S1 - and partially prolapsed into the nerves) and it goes out about 2-3 times a year... Which usually means 3-5 days of bed-rest and drug-therapy (Vicodin & Soma) followed by Physical Therapy and a few weeks of moving slowly.
So yeah... it went out fully yesterday morning.
It was threatening spasms Tuesday - so I was ultra-careful and even went to bed early instead of finishing packing... only to wake up unable to walk. Had to call DH home from work to take care of DD and to get her to school.
I've been flat on my back and out of it (the vicodin makes me sleepy for the first day) for the past 26 hours. Everything still needs to be packed - and I'm typing from the laptop in bed - trying to keep from further aggravating it.
DH is bringing over the family friend tonight who is house-sitting for us while we're gone - so that he can watch DD while we try to finish packing.
My printer has broken down, so I haven't printed door magnets either. Trying to figure out if I will be able to make it to Kinkos tonight to print them or not.
So lessee - my DD has croup, I'm flat on my back, packing is barely begun, no door magnets, and we leave for the airport in 20 hours.
Shoot me?
I'm just thankful they came out with those wearable heatpacks for the back - those plus lots of drugs will get me there - but what a way to start a vacation!!
